Smile I did it too!! (or should I say "two")?!!

Hi Ladies:

I've been a lurker on this site for a little while - but now wanted to post a bit of my story.

I had my BA yesterday and I just can't believe it, I've been thinking about doing this for a long time.

Anyway - all went well. I went to the surgicenter at 8:45 am for a 10:00am procedure. I was not that nervous (probably because I've been under general anesthesia before) mostly anxious. The nurses were great and like to joke and next thing I knew I was in la la land and then waking up! The surgery took less than 1 hour.

I ended up with 300cc & 325cc saline HP Unders and hope to be a Baby C. PS told DH that they are a "nice C." I'll take that

I am now wearing a compression bra with a built in strap to keep them down. I must say that I am more sore than I thought I'd be and am sticking to my pain med schedule very closely. I also take flexeril and an antibiotic - and also Arnica for bruising. The irony is that I'm soo tired but it is quite hard to sleep (I'm only allowed on my back). I've also discovered that I can't open my medicine bottles ... those safety lids are hard on BA patients!!

Well, that's it for now - I must lay down again

Thanks everyone for your stories.

Oops! Pressed the "thanks" button by mistake! But I'm totally with you on the bottles for the medicine. You have got little boys so you'd have to be careful about where you leave them, but I had my dh open those and also loosen bottles of water for me to make things easier.

Congrats on getting yourself done though!! If you keep doing what you're doing with your pain medication schedule, you should be fine. I think it's worse when you are feeling better and let yourself get behind on your meds and then next thing you know you are in hell-a pain!

I'm glad you're feeling well - and keep us informed! Congrats on your new additions!

Thanks for asking about me... Due to the delay in my response, you might imagine that I've been a little "down and out." Overall, my recovery is going fine, it's just that I'm now understanding that the healing process is rather lengthy...to say the least. I'm in that very uncomfortable stage (9 days post op) where I feel as though two hard as hell rocks are strapped to my chest and I can't get away from them!! Sleeping is difficult also and adds to my overall emotional state. I'm definately one of those girls with the "post-op blues."
I read this board often and it's comforting to know it's all normal. I just wish it were May already
