My Journey to Boobieville...
And a long journey it is. Here goes, about 2 days before surgery, I started getting a sore throat. I got nervous and drank OJ like crazy. I also started by menstrual period. What perfect timing. Then the night before surgery, had a black out. Thank goodness DS woke up at night and informed us otherwise I might have slept through surgery. Also another reason I am just posting today because internet was down, until now!!!
Got to the surgery center around 9am. About 30 minutes early. Got check in and called in right away. Changed into my beautiful gown, ted stockings, booties and got under the air blanket. Then I laid there and waited for my PS…and waited…and waited…3 hours later!!! he finally came. My surgery was scheduled for 10:30. He ran over from the surgery before me. I was nervous but was okay with it because he was working on someone else, nothing he could do. It was finally my turn. He drew on me and the anesthesiologist came to give me my cocktails. I remember blabbing something about my son having a little league game tonight and blah I was out. I woke up with intense pressure on my chest and stomach. I don’t know what time I got out of surgery but I initially told DH to leave after they wheel me in so he can pick up DS for his little league game. So no one was there when I woke up but I was okay, I wanted DH to be with DS instead. They wheeled me into the recovery room where I stayed overnight. Mind you, I just had BA & FTT with MR. I’m a little out of it. Don’t feel too much pain, just lots of pressure. I was groggy and in and out most of the night. I finally woke up around 7ish and said I have to call my mom, she is probably worried sick and she was. She was relief to hear I was okay and told me that DH was on the way in to see me. DH arrived a little bit later. I’m trying to remember all the details but its very groggy to me.I just remember that I didn’t experience too much pain. Again, just lots of pressure on my chest and stomach. I have the compression garment on my stomach so it feels like a very very tight garter that I want to peel off. Here I am, 3 days after surgery and I feel pretty good. Had my post-op this morning. Doctor removed both of my pain pumps. I still have the drains in probably until next week. Overall, I feel pretty good. Boobs are very high and I’m slowly massaging it. Just very bored cuz I was sitting around with no internet, until now. I was up and walking around cuz my 3 year old wanted to play. I was on the phone with the internet help desk guy and trying to get my stuff reset & hooked up. I thought to myself, I just had surgery, I should be laying down and relaxing but no chance. I wanted to say thanks again to the ladies of JBI. You have helped me through a period of anxiety, self doubt, and you have just been there to listen. It is so helpful to talk to someone that have been through or is going through what you are going through. I am recovering beautifully everyday and I am looking forward to the final results. Sorry for the long story…. Take care ladies….

Hi Jen! Congratulations!! I can't believe you had to lay there for 3 hours waiting for your surgery to begin! I would've been a bundle of nerves. Kudos to you! I know it'll be tempting to get up and play with your kids but try to resist doing anything too physical. My hubby "shielded" me from my 3 and 4 1/2 year olds for a solid week and I think that helped a lot. I cuddled them gently (they hugged my leg or arm) in order to get my lovey fix, but it's important to rest as much as you can.
Oh, and please tell us about your new boobies! Size, type, placement, etc! We are detail addicts! Congratulations, again!

Hi Wocky, think I might have spoken too soon. Since I got to get out yesterday for my post-op, I felt really good and moved around alot. Well, I paid for it last night! I couldn't sleep at all last night. I was in so much pain. I was up most of the night just tossing and turning but not really tossing and turning cuz I couldn't move, if you know what I mean. I listened to all ya ladies and kept up on my pain pills. Why play hero and suffer?
I got 420cc in each side, salines, unders. Boobs are hard and I can't wait for it to drop. It is very uncomfortable. I'm actually wearing my nursing bras from previous and it felt pretty good then the regular bras that I bought for the surgery. Anywho, I'll try to take it easy today and rest up. Thanks for checking in... |

It was great reading your story, I'm getting pretty much the same thing done. How are you feeling now? Thanks for sharing, it's helping me get over my fear of getting so many different procedures done!

Thanks Kim. I'm feeling pretty good. Recovery for the TT is a bit easier for me than the BA. I'm on an emotional roller coaster with the BA but time is of the essence so I'm trying to be patient. Just remember to get plenty of rest and take it easy the first couple of weeks. Get up and walk around but don't do anything strenuous. Best of luck to you. Just IM me if you have any questions.
