Much better than I thought!!!!

My surgery was Good Friday, March 21 at noon. With all Rx's filled, jello made, clean sheets, peas frozen, blood work done, finally I was ready. I went to the surgery center adjoining the hosp. where I have worked as an RN for 16 years (discounts override privacy) for my BA and Tummy Tuck. I only knew two nurses there, but trusted them. My favorite anesthesiologist had agree to do my case and came to greet me. PS Chris Marek arrived with his marker. IV took two tries. Versed in iv made me so drowsy I don't remember much else until waking up.

Really, the pain was not near what I expected. About a 4-5/10 I guess. My breast bone was very sore, but I couldn't really get to it due to the new boobs and binding. My entire abdomen was ( and still is ) numb, like it isn't even mine. The abd. binder was Soooo tight and digging in my new boobs and thighs. They gave me some goldfish crackers and sprite, but I could barely swallow, the anti drooling med made my mouth so dry. Then my husband came to the recovery room. He is very sweet.

After a lortab and some instructions, home we went. Ride was fine. The whole day went fine, but I had trouble finding a comfortable sleeping spot. A couple lortabs and some phenergan for the mild nausea put me to sleep in the lazy boy by about 11pm.

Day two was fine, except that rough-edged binder. My best friend came over and helped me roll it down and pad the edges. I rode to the store with my husband to get me some lemondrops for the still very dry mouth. Motrin 800 helped more than lortab. My breast and arms were stragely not sore, just heavy, like 25 pushups and the day your milk comes in. Peas really felt good. Day 3 and 4 were about the same. The two abd drains were kinda icky, and my husb could't really deal with the red liquid in them, so I did that my self.

Tuesday we went for my follow up. All was fine, one drain came out. Dr. admitted he thought the 457cc I chose would be too big, but now agreed they will look perfect. Still quite pointy and Miss Righty is high. Finally able to sleep better propped up partly on my side, my back had gotten quite sore and tired.

Today, Thursday, was my second follow up. Bye-bye second drain, instructed on breast massage, still no breast pain. They still don't really feel like part of me, but hope they will when they are softer and lower. We came home and I took the best shower ever. Now just a sports bra and store bought waist shaper. No Lortab since bedtime last night, we are going out for supper and to hear a band tonight. I can't believe how well I feel!! My husband is a bit scared to even hug me, for fear of hurting me, but I really do feel fine. I hope I feel this good the whole recovery, since I'm going to Vegas to a wedding next week!! Thanks for reading and wishing everyone a story like mine!

Wow - you are having a pretty good recovery considering all that you had done. That's wonderful!

Take good care of yourself and don't over-do anything. It sounds like you've got lots to be happy about now! ENJOY!!

I love hearing these stories. I only know (personally) two women who have had the surgery and they are big complainers... no surprise that they had "tough" recoveries. These are the types of posts that calm my nerves! Thanks and good luck!
