Like Augie, today was my big day. I had to tape the coffee container shut last night so I wouldn't go into robot mode and make some.
I had to be there at 10 am. They took me back after the paperwork and I got changed into the gown and stockings and mesh underwear (they are absolutely pointless). My PS came in and marked me. I remember being rolled into to surgery suite. And that was it...The anesthesiologist didn't even make small talk with me. I knew he was there, but no countdown or telling me I was going to get sleepy. But I wasn't nervous at all. I couldn't wait for it to be over! I did have a few problems. They coulnd't get me to wake up. I would open my eyes, but then they would close right back. The nurse gave me too much demerol (sp?) so that's the reason for me not waking up. It took them 3 hours for the meds to wear off and they wouldn't let me take the other til I got home. That's the worst of the pain when I couldn't take anything. It also made my blood pressure drop and they all got nervous. They hovered over me for an hour and could never get it over 92/58. It finally got to 100/70 and let me go. I don't remember getting in the wheelchair, but my sister said that I climbed in my truck by myself. I have only been taking half of a 7.5 vicodin every 6 hours and I'm doing great. I can't sleep though. My eyes are so heavy but my mind will not shut down. So, I just sit up in the bed with my eyes closed. I am wrapped in an ace bandage, but get to take it off tomorrow. I go back to the PS next Tues but I haven't been told anything about ice packs or lifting my arms above my head. I've heard you are suppose to use ice packs at some point, but I'm guessing the PS will tell me when to. I haven't had to have any help getting up or going to the bathroom. I just use my legs instead of my arms. I can't wait to be able to take off the ace bandage and see them for the first time tomorrow. I know they will be misshapen but I can't see anything right now. The only other problem I'm having is making myself take deep breaths because my chest muscle is tender. But overall, it was a great experience! |

Sounds like a pretty good experience, apart from the not waking up and blood pressure problems. It's good that they took good care of you during that time.
Like you, I'm getting my BA done while my husband is deployed. He won't be home for another 7 to 8 months, so I'll have a lot of time to heal. How soon will your husband get to see you and the new ?

I just wanted to say CONGRATZ on your new boobies and I hope you have a speedy recovery....I can't believe they gave you too much demerol...that's a bit scary in my opinion but glad you're okay

It was scary for me after (finding out), but my sister was freaking out then. I had no clue what was going on, just that I couldn't wake up and the nurse was annoying me by asking me to, lol.

Hi, I just read your BA story. Oh, those net stocking things were just horrible weren't they?! I've learned that I have gained most of my post op knowledge from this board and not the doctor..LOL. He didn't say anything to me either about ice packs (I had them on hand, but didn't use them afterall). How long did he say you have to wear the sports bra??
