Consultation Story!

I have just joined the forum (although I have been lurking a while). Reading everyone elses experiences/stories has been a real help to me and I'd like to share my story I am from the United Kingdom, and I am flying to Brussels for my breast augmentation in July!

I have wanted a breast augmentation since I was a teenager because I have always been flat chested. It wasn't until a few weeks ago when a friend of a friend had a breast enlargement, that I actually took measures to plan/book my own. She went to Belgium to have her op because it's so much cheaper, and Belgium is considered one of the best countries in Europe for healthcare. She was great, helping me to book everything. In the UK breast augmentations are around £4,000-£6,000 (I'm not sure what that is in dollars). However in mainland Europe breast enlargements are much cheaper so I am flying to Brussels in Belgium to have my op. in the same clinic. Before flying to Brussels, I had to go for a consultation in a UK clinic (the cosmetic surgery has 3 clinics, 2 in the Uk and 1 in Brussels). I had my consultation yesterday and it went well. Now I can't wait to have my new boobs!

I got to the clinic and we filled out a few forms, they did a general health check etc. Then the consultant asked me all about what I wanted/expected from the surgery. From reading other peoples stories/experiences and the useful help pages about incisions/sizes etc. I'd built up an idea of what I wanted. I told the consultant I wanted anatomical implants around about a size C/D, behind the muscle etc. I was gutted when she basically said no to everything I'd said! She said that anatomical implants would need to be a smaller size because I have a small frame the wide part at the bottom would need to be small enough to not poke out at the edges. She suggested high profile implants which I was upset about because to me I thought they would just look 100% fake! However when we tried the implants on, the high profile looked great! I didn't like the anatomicals, like the consultant had told me they would not give me the cleavage I wanted, and they just didn't suit my original breast shape.

The next set-back came when she suggested a peri-areolar incision! I was like oh my god no! After she'd explained that because I wasn't going big if I had a inframammary fold incision the breast would not hang over the scar and so the scar would be visible. After looking at pics of the peri-areolar incision I realised she was right the scarring is much less visible and so I agreed to have that incision. I had planned to have the op in June, however, the particular surgeon who does that particular incision was fully booked until 12th July! The consultatant told me could have the inframamarry incision in June, or I could have another surgeon perform the peri-areolar incision but he might not be as comfortable with that particular incision/do it as well as the preferred surgeon I decided to wait. I'd rather wait an extra month than settle for a second best operation.

I am already extremely nervous about the actual surgery. I have never had an op. before, and I suppose I have never even experienced pain before, so I have no idea what I am letting myself in for! All I know is I am sure no matter how bad the pain it will all be worth it!

Let the count down to the op. begin!

I think itis great that the ps discussed all of those issues with you. I understand your nervousness, but I bet that since you have a little time to wait for your surgery, you will be all set for it. I waited 2 1/2 months for mine and I am kinda glad I did because I feel like I was completely ready for it...........with all my questions answered by the ladies on this forum

Hi Quirls, thanks for sharing. Are you going with Elyzea then? That was an interesting remark re submammory & peri-areolar incisions. I will eventually be going for a small increase too, about 230cc, so wonder if I may end up with peri-areolar incisions.

I think you made the right decision to wait till July too! What's a couple more weeks when you've waited so long!

thats great

i didnt have enough implant to get the crease incision either and the crease incision is harder to heal - the scar pretty much is there.

the peri-aeroler is what i did and it is the best. my PS does them great and you can't even see them. i'm glad i didnt go through w/the crease.

good luck to your BA!
