Hey everyone--big thanks to all of you for the support and good wishes--all paid off!
![]() Here's the scoop on my day yesterday. I had run around like something shot out of a cannon the day b4, so I didn't wake until the alarm went off--5 hrs sleep not the greatest way to begin this journey, but I figured I could sleep the next day, right? So the alarm is off at 5:30 and I'm up and dressed in about 5 minutes. Now what? so I logged onto JBI and read things to calm my nerves, then talked to the kiddos as they woke unmercifully early (it's summer--why do my kids wake by 6?). seriously, they really made me feel better without even knowing it. My dh got everything ready, we kissed the girls and took off for the surgery center here in Dallas--really great setup. Got there at six-fifteen (sorry--dark in here and can't see numbers well), checked in, went back and put on the sexy blood-clot-prevention hose and socks, robe and gown, etc. Then it was off to pre-op, where she (nice nurse) took my bp--143 over 90! Geez! Normally i'm 110/60! Nervous? Ha! and gave me anti-nausea stuff and pepcid AC. Waited several minutes and tried not to get more worried, then the surgeon came in and marked me, saying he didn't know if he could do the 420s or not. I said, whatever. Just want great looking boobs at whatever size. Then the anesthesiologist came in--the friend of a friend, so that made me feel LOADS better. She was amazing, and so incredibly good at what she does. Then I kissed dh bye and walked in, getting up on the table that was nice and warmed for me. She did the pre-numbing stick b4 the iv. Loved her for that. then i was out like a light. Came to after the surgery, looked down and went, hmmmmm. Not bad. Then people bustled in and out, the nurse alerting the dr. that one side was a little swollen...next thing I know I'm being wheeled back in for a hematoma wash-out and redo. Whatever. Didn't even faze me--I was still too high to care. Next thing I know, it's over, they're saying all went well, and I'm somehow back in the recovery room, then the room in the suite where I'm to stay overnight here (that was planned. Thank God. Might have had to anyway with the hematoma and all). BTW, I was intubated with both surgeries, and I had no idea. Would never have known it if I hadn't asked and been told yes. Also, I'm the type that always needs more meds in surgery than they think--I came to during a twilight sleep thing for my wisdom teeth, and I always need additional medication for dental work. I was very nervous about waking up during the surgery or feeling something, but NOTHING. So wonderful. Really is the best part about it. Maybe that's the mom in me though--"Finally! Some rest! And no one to take care of for an hour or so!" I got overs, 390s round textured silicone in both. They don't look that big, now. I said so to my dh, who chuckled and said, "No, they're bigger alright! Probably a full C", which is what I wanted. I have been flat since I had kids, and this definitely makes up for it. I only took half of the versed dose (painkiller) I was due--they made me too woozy. Meds generally affect me that way--I take one Benadryl and I'm out. One advil, etc. so that was good--didn't take as much as I thought. It's 6 the next morning, and I'm feeling completely alert and a bit tight, though I keep feeling to ensure that I'm not bleeding again. My swelling is still going on, but the bruising wasn't bad at all, or at least it isn't so far. They're riding high, even for overs. Can't wait to see the end result. The IV is out, which helps TREMENDOUSLY. It was good to have it overnight. Kept me hydrated, which was good because there's no way I could have drunk that much on my own--completely out of it. And they wouldn't let me eat anything all day since they knew I might have to go back in for another hematoma. so I'm HUNGRY! All I can say is that I am really grateful they offered the overnight stay--the PS makes that his suggested level of care from the beginning. It really helped me, because my dh could never have figured all of this out. And it's my 13th anniversary!!! Wow. what a present. DH is snoozing in the next bed. I told my girlfriends about the BA, and most of them called yesterday. For once, I was like, "Later. Tell em I love em, but later". All in all, I feel really good. The one thing i learned from this was to get the absolute highest level of aftercare/most qualified surgeon you can afford. It made all the difference in the world in my recovery. The overnight stay was absolutely the most important thing I did, except for the surgeon selection, because it set my mind at ease. I knew that my dh was clueless about all of this, but that the nurses would stay on top of it. So happy for Natalie and calipso, too. All of you reading this story like I did every single new story out there, feel free to contact me. I've got a yahoo webpage, and once you've been on here a while and get access, please pm me and I'd be happy to share pics. So far there are none, but when there are, I'll let you know. My avatar says the b4 pretty loud and clear. i.e. not much there, and pectus excavatum, to boot. thanks for listening!!! And good luck to all of you who are wrestling with the decisions--overs/unders, size, etc. you will find the fit and placement that are right for you and be so happy. I am! so finally,

Oh wow, glad they got that hematoma sorted right then and there (if you're going to have one, that's the way to do it! LOL) and I'm glad you're OK.
Thanks for sharing your story. Congrats!

congrats. I'm glad everything went okay. So, you were in the operating room twice for the same surgery? Is that common? I'm glad everything is all fixed up now!!!!!!!!!!!
