I made it!
Well, I finally made it to the other side on Tuesday. I've tried to write this entry twice already, so hopefully 3rd time is the charm.
Here's my story... I had to be at the surgical center at 6:30 and was scheduled for surgery at 7:30am. After filling out more consent forms, the nurse took me back to take a preg test and start getting ready. She had me slip into that oh so sexy gown, compression socks and blue hair net. When she came back in, she put on the inflatable booties and got my IV started. Before the Anesthesiologist came in, they ran a bag of antibiotics in me. Once she came in, she went over my medical history and went over the details of what she was going to do for me before and during surgery. Once we talked, my ps came in and she marked me up for both procedures. As soon as she left the room, the anesthsiologist came back in and started giving the anit-nausea meds and the anti-anxiety med. Within 10 seconds of her pushing the anti-anxiety med, I was out of it. I remember getting a little emotional when they started wheeling me into the OR and having to move over to the operating table and getting my head into a special pillow and my feet into these yellow gel things. Next thing I knew, I was waking up in the recovery area wondering when they were going to start. My throat was very dry from the intubation and I had a really hard time waking up. They kept me there for 2 hours just to watch me and make sure everything was going ok and then they wheeled me out to the car. Since I had the tummy tuck done at the same time, the dr left in my cathedar for 24 hours so I wouldn't be up moving too much. The first day home wasn't too bad. I didn't have any nausea from the anesthesia and I pretty much slept the rest of the day. On Wednesday, I had to be back to the dr's office by 9 for the RN to check me out and remove the cathedar. I was definately a lot more sore than the previous day and was starting to deal with a little nausea. The doctor had me on Percocet and Keflex for the pain and antibiotics and the combination of the two was really hard to deal with. Thursday was hell. The pain was horrible, and I was in a drug induced head spin all day and night. I got to the point where I couldn't stand to eat anything or keep my eyes open. I had a couple breakdowns that day and felt like I was going to die. Last night, I started having really bad leg pains, so my dh called the dr to make sure it wasn't anything serious and she wanted me to come into the office this morning for her to check me out. We arrived at 8:30 and I was a mess. I was in pain, sick to my stomach and shaking like a drug addict from the narcotics I had been on. She said I was really dehydrated and took my next door to her surgery center to put me in a bed and hook my up to 2 liters of IV fluid. Her nurse gave me 3 different kinds of anti-nausea meds and another round of iv antibiotics so I wouldn't have to bother with taking the pills any more. I got sick and threw up while I was there and even though it hurt like hell on my muscle repair to do it, I felt a lot better afterwards. 3 hours later, I felt a whole hell of a lot better and was able to go back home. The dizziness is gone and I'm able to get in and out of bed on my own now. I'm off the narcotics and I'm only taking Tylenol and Motrin now for the pain. So far everything in healing nicely so I'll see in a couple weeks how the girls are going to shape up. |

Wow- sorry to hear your recovery has been so rough! I'm sure the tummy tuck on top of the BA is a lot of pain..I give you a lot of credit for doing both! Hopefully things will go easier from here...good luck!

Things will get better!!
Wow, thanks for sharing your story....I will be probably going through something similar to you as I will also be getting a tummy tuck and BA and a BL. I hope now that you are no longer feeling nauseated, that your recovery will be a lot smoother from here in!

Wow!
Thanks for your post sweets! Geez! I can't imagine going through both at the same time, but at least you're getting over with all at once. Thanks for sharing your story and I wish you a speedy recovery!

Thanks, things have certainly been better since I got all the narcotics flushed out of my system. My PS said I'm a light weight and couldn't handle the drugs. Ever since getting the fluids yesterday, I have felt pretty good and haven't needed anything more than the Tylenol and Motrin that I'm alternating every 4 hours. Good luck with your procedures and PM me if you have any questions. |

Why would they make you do a preg test before surgery? Isn't that too late?
Also, was I the only one that didn't get "marked" up until I was out like a light on the operating table? Congrats on your new set!!!!! |

So sorry it sounds horrible
I'm so sorry you went through such a bad experience, but I'm glad to hear your feeling better. Hang in there - in a few days you'll feel so much better.

Hi Chelle! We both made it, and it sounds like it didn't go smoothly for either of us. But we're here, and now we just need to take a paitence pill and wait out the "swell hell" we're going to experience with the TT. I'm glad to hear you feel better now, keep us updated.
