I wish I could say the trip was a pleasant one but it was actually a trip from hell. I arrived at my PS’s office at 8AM, Tuesday, was taken into another room for last minute questions and for the markups. Felt comfortable that all my questions were answered. Walked into the surgical suite and the fun began. I had chose twilight (versed) opposed to full anesthesia due to a carpal tunnel surgery I had that took 10 minutes and left me sick for two days.
The IV went in and it was the strangest thing, it was like I was watching a movie, my eyes were open and I could hear everyone talking although I did not feel any pain, just a slight tug now and then. At the end I remember sitting up on the table and having the nurse put me in a bra and band. They wheeled me out and my DH took me home and got me settled. We slept in the family room, he on the couch and I in the recliner. I did not get one minute of sleep, I was not in any pain, I just couldn't’t sleep. They told me to take the vicodan every three hours whether I needed it or not. Wednesday morning found me at 3AM praying to the porcelain god and that’s where I stayed for the last few days. The suppositories of phenegran they gave me did not help at all. I stopped the pain pills as I felt they were the cause of the vomiting. My post op was Wednesday afternoon, so we went with bucket in hand. PS said all was well changed my bandages and gave me another script of nausea medicine. Insurance company would only pay for ten of them, guess they thought that's all I needed? Today is the first day I feel like I might actually live through this. I have never been this constantly sick in my life. I’ve had bad flu’s but never lived in the bathroom for days. As far as the new twins, who knows. Right now I blame all this agony on them! Perhaps in the next few days we will make amends and go from there. If one more person says “well, was it worth it?” I will take out a contract hit on them. I don’t know what I would have done without my DH. He never left my side and was my angel. Hope everyone in the 7-7 to 7-11 group did well, are happy and on the road to recovery. C~ |

I am so sorry for you, but the same thing happened to me with the pain meds. All I can say is that it really will get better and you will wake up one day and feel human again. Just give it a few more days. Keep us posted.

hard to believe but it gets better...
Hi there, I'm so sorry to hear that you had a really rough time. I had my B.A. on 7/7 and it was for me one of the most painful recoveries I've ever had to go through (and I've had 4 kids)! I didn't get sick but did feel lots of pain and uncomfortableness. I'm on day 4 now and wanted you to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Slowly but surely, it does get alot better. You did a wonderful job and the best is yet to come. Enjoy your new additions and remember we're here if you need to talk.

Oh wow, did you have Twilight Anesthesia? (curious)
Sorry it's been so rough. It will be worth it in the finish, hang in there.

I had twilight anesthesia and was not completely out. I remember looking as seeing one boob done and the other flat! They told me afterwards that they kept having to give me more and more and that they have never given that much to a person. Maybe that's why I'm so sick????

I had the versad also (Monday for me) and I don't remember a thing from the time they said "I'm going to give you something to relax you" until I was standing in my kitchen at home hours later. I have not felt exspecially sick but so incredibly uncomfortable from being bloated and constipated. All the meds (antibiotic, celebrex, pain meds) make my stomach feel unsettled, but not like I'm going to vomit. Discomfort, pressure around the chest, around the crease (I guess where the muscle was cut since my incision was aereolar).
Aw, honey I wish all the July 7-11 gals could all gather at my house, sleep, visit, compare, watch movies....it's tough this first week! |

I'm sorry it's been such a rough recovery for you! As cliche as it sounds, it will be worth all of the initial bumps in the road! Congratulations!

I hope you start to feel better soon. I know vomiting is gross, but it was your body's way of getting all those toxins out. I bet you will start to feel better and better as all that stuff leaves your body.
![]() I would also try to stay away from the prescribed painkillers if at all possible, and just take tylenol or ibuprofen (whichever was recommended.) |
