Did it...Love it!!

7/17 At my pre-op, my sister joined me since my dh was unable to fly up until the next day. So the ps came in and started to mark me up and my sisters eyes kept getting bigger and bigger..we laughed as soon as he left the office because she thought that's how big they'll end up being. The nurse came in later letting me know that I can't eat and drink after a certain time, make sure I come in with a zip up sweater, sweatpants and socks. Finally got out of there and went out to lunch with my sis....did last minute food shopping...got the prune juice!!
Next day...surgery!! My appt was at 7:30 so my dh and I left the house early since my sis said to anticipate the traffic, but we got there before 7 so we sat in the car as he ate his breakfast...damn, I was getting hungry and he kept teasing me telling me to eat some...anyway finally went upstairs and everyone was waiting for me. She told my dh I should be able to go home by 1 pm, hugged and kissed my husband and followed the nurse into a room where she gave me the infamous gown. So, I put it on and put my hair up in a bun then she came back took me to the bathroom and then brought me to the OR and lay down. They put a tube that blew out hot air onto my chest and then layered couple of blankets over me. The anesthesiologist came, asked me questions while doing my iv and didn't even know she already did...then the ps came in and started praying for me to give me strength and a smooth surgery which I thought was really nice of him...then I started feeling weird and I was out. Then I woke up moaning from an uncomfortable pressure from the ps pushing the implants down. I realized the deed had been done and just felt heavy pressure on my chest from being wrapped up so tight (I have bruises on my back and sides) and felt some pain near my underarms from where the drains were coming from. The nurse said I was in surgery for almost 3 hours since I was a bleeder!! They had to monitor me for awhile at recovery since my blood pressure was still low. I was able to go to the bathroom with her help and she continued to measure what was coming out of the drain which I knew to be blood just didn't want to look at it. She asked me to at least move my legs around a bit to get my blood circulating and to help my blood pressure which worked so they helped me onto the wheelchair. My dh was waiting for me in the recovery waiting room where they wheeled me to that's when I started feeling dizzy which I dreaded!! I did not want to be sick at all!! My dh asked his questions about the post-op and was given instructions on the drains. (I knew he really didn't want to have anything to do with drains which they hung from my neck with a ribbon). So went down the elevator, was helped into the car and put my legs up and went to sleep the whole ride home to my sisters house. Both my dh and my sis helped me out of the car and propped me up on the couch. It was hard since I couldn't move my arms. My dh brought me some water and jello so I could start taking my meds. He helped me to go to the bathroom...thank god for my dh!! Then I slept propped up the rest of the night and just waking up every 6 hours to take my antibiotics. I didn't take any pain killers because it wasn't painful...just more pressure. The next couple days were the same but was unable to "move" even drinking the prune juice. I don't know if it were because of the bandages being so tight or the meds but I was very uncomfortable feeling bloated. So finally my brother in law (he's a nurse also worked at a ps office) suggested dulcolax which totally helped and felt so much better!! As for the drains, my brother in law helped with that since my dh was squeamish....I really didn't like the drains at all!! They were coming out from my underarms but the bandages were digging into my skin and I just couldn't find a comfortable position for my arms, especially when putting the antibiotic ointment where the drains were coming out from. My dh would have to move my shoulder and slightly lift my arm - which hurt to apply the ointment.
The follow up appt day four - they removed the bandages - I could finally breathe...more important to look at my boobies which they filled 380cc (my ps said if i shouldn't go any bigger)!! However for me, I didn't really look at them...I didn't want to look in the mirror...didn't want to see more blood and I just didn't want to be disappointed, but from what I saw looking down - they looked damn good but with some bruising near my cleavage from what I saw !! The nurse then laid me down and told me she would be moving the implants around the pocket to remove anymore blood or liquids in the pocket. She warned me it would be uncomfortable, the other nurse was holding my hand to help me bear the pain so I already assumed it would hurt!! I asked her if I were going to kick and scream...she said please don't!! She told me to take a deep breath and she did my left side first, then the right....OMG - I wanted to punch her and kick the other nurse holding my hand, it hurt!! So they stayed with me a few minutes and then left for me to rest. There was still a lot of blood so the drains were not coming out...aawww shux (another day of struggling to go to the bathroom on my own)! The nurse had to help me up off the table since I still can't use my arms and they bandaged me up again, but not as tight as the first time and this time felt different because my nipples felt sensitive.
Follow up day 6 - the nurse said to come in since I had 5cc's of liquid/blood in my drains so went in and they cut the bandages away, measured my drains and told me they'll be massaging my boobies again.... pain! But it wasn't as bad this time, I could tolerate it!! Still bleeding.....so one more day of drains and being bandaged up again, and still the nipples are sensitive.
Drains finally off day 7 - The nurse cut the bandages, laid me down and check the drains. She moved the gals again and some blood but not as much. She said the drains were coming out so she left the room and the ps came and did the same thing. I thought the drains were going to hurt when they removed it but not at all. She cut the tubes a couple of inches away from the opening on each side the pulled them out. Then I saw her holding a needle which freaked me out, but it was antibiotics she squeezed into the opening of where the drains were which felt a little cold going in. She then went around each of my boobies to squeeze out any excess liquids - none came out...yay!! She propped me up and told me she'll be showing me how to massage and put me in front of a mirror....DAMN...my boobies look huge was my first reaction!! Then I saw more bruising on my sides near my underarm, on my back and on my boobies - purple blots here and there. I also noticed some scars like dots all over my boobies in random placement (this is where they poked with a long needle into my boobies to squeeze some anesthesia all over and under), I also saw my incisions which weren't too big. The ps did one areolar and the other peri-areolar. Massaging my boobies were not bad at all, it just felt weird when the implant slowly dropped away from my collar-bone. So I've been massaging it 3-5 times a day. My arms are still weak, I'm not to lift my arms above 90 degrees and I'm still not able to pull myself out of bed.
Last follow up before going home - the nurse checked my pockets and said I'm doing good with the massaging. The ps came in and checked my incisions - he said the right side was opening just a little so he put an ointment and a bandaid. I go back next week again for a follow up. All in all, I love my new boobies and would do it all over again...even with the drains!! Of course the girls are still swollen so I'm hoping they end up looking as good!!

Thanks for sharing your story. Sorry to hear about your troubles, how great to have a nurse at home help out. I know the drains would gross me out, but I think my DH could handle it. Can't wait to see pictures of your results.
