MY Horrible PS Story (Part 1)

OK, so 2 years ago I finally couldn't take it anymore. I had wanted to get a ba for years and had been researching
different doctors, talking to people, etc. I found a doctor (saw 2 girls ba by him) and thought i'd go check him out. Might I add... Both of these girls were an A cup and got big perky breasts after both of their ba. I was a full D... lost weight... I was down to a small C at that time. I went for the consult. I had a 930 appt and the doctor didn't even show up until 1030-1045am! That was the first sign I guess. He seemed very knowledgeable though. I wanted silicone implants but he didn't like doing silicone implants and convinced me into saline. I told him I wasnted to be a DD, that my skin was too loose to have small boobs, I wanted to be BIG, wanted to fill out my numerous stretch marks that are ALL OVER my breasts, etc. He told me he could definitely do it. He said that he wanted to do a lift (areolar) on both breasts which would help my slight assymetry problem since my left breast was slightly bigger than my right and the nipple therefore sat a little lower.

Sounded great right? He wouldnt give me a price... I had to speak with the office manager. She quoted me approx $9200 for saline implants + areolar lift. The consultation was $53 and was deducted from your surgery if you ended up getting surgery. They wouldn't offer a discount for paying in cash so I took out a loan.

I decided to get the surgery done August 11, 2006. (he did it at the hospital)

OK, so I'm on the way to the hospital and my bf at the time and mom came with me. I already had anxiety (my 1st
surgery ever) and my mom was freaking me out that I might not wake up from surgery, that this was a mistake, etc.
(I was 22 years old, no health problems). By the time I got to the hospital my nerves were shot and she was making me cry, etc. I had to have her leave the room so I could relax. When she came back she was like "oh, they are going to be putting a tube down your throat!" I was like WHAT?? I spoke with the CRNA who said that was true and that they might chip my teeth in the process because I was undergoing general anesthesia (I had no choice in the matter -- the PS only worked with general)!!!

When I got into the OR came some MAJOR problems. First, the PS told me that the procedure which was supposed to be like 4 hours (ba & areolar lift) was going to be less since he no longer wanted to do the lift... that he thought wouldn't need it and that instead of cutting around the areola (he thought the scars were goning be bad) he was going to do a crease incision. Now, mind you, I signed a consent for BA and BL. I wish I had said forget the surgery then, this isn't what I agreed to... but I trusted the mans judgement. I had already paid the surgeon, the hospital and anesthesia $9200. With the new surgery it was going to be $7200 so I should get back $2000. This was my first surgery, as I mentioned... I had an adverse reaction to the general anesthesia/ET, chips in 2 of my teeth, OMG!!! What a nightmare!!!

After the surgery I had to go for post-op visits. The surgeon asked me what I thought when I went... And I told him I wasn't as big as I wanted... and my nipples weren't at the same level like I wanted and my right breast was lopsided looking. It was misery. I had I think 3 post-op visits. The 3rd one I was there waiting for 3 hours (yes, I had an appt.) and got so pissed from waiting that I walked out.

They kept shrinking & shrinking & shrinking! (Saline unders). I called & called to find out how many cc were inserted into each breast. I finally got an answer of 390 (Right) 360 (Left). They never gave me a card including what was placed into each breast for documentation or anything. Now remember I didn't get the BL and $2000 was owed to me... Well, after approx 6 months of calling, leaving messages, going to the hospital in person, going to the doctor in person (who was 1.5 hours away might I add) I got back SOME but not all of the $2000 that was owed to me. I wanted to take them all to court to get the money I was owed but was told that in order to do that the amount suing for had to be higher than what was left over that I was trying to get and that it wouldn't be worth it. I also found out later on that since the PS made a breach of contract and changed his mind in the OR and my consent was not for what he did I should've NOT got the procedure done and/or I could've have possibly sued. But it was two years later when I found this out...

I've spoken with various PS since then and have been told by one that you lose 20-30% of size within the first year oof getting saline implants. For this reason he recommends silicone. He told me that many women come to him to get re-dos because they are unhappy with their breasts getting smaller with saline. I've seen a woman who had D-cup implants 10 years ago (saline) and now, 10 years later, she's a small B cup. (didn't have kids or anything like
that after they were done.) Mine shrank from a full DD (approx 6 months after the surgery) to a full C-cup. Small C
to a full C with 360-390cc?? That doesn't seem right. And not the size I wanted/agreed on. My nipples are 1.5 inch difference in height when I measure from the sternal notch to the middle of my nipple (sternal notch is the the bony part at the top of the center of your chest where it feels like it dips in right a bove the notch... hard to explain, sorry!)

So, after getting ba i have the following problems:

1. Adverse reaction to general anesthesia (I will NEVER get general anesthesia again unless it's an absolute matter
of life and death)
2. Assymetry (1.5 inch height difference in nipples)
3. Right boob is lopsided
4. Size is WAYYYY too small (small C to full C)... With all my extra skin it looks so bad
5. Pockets were made too big so my boobs flop all over the place and feel like real boobs (which is not what I wanted)
6. When I lay on my back, my left boob falls into my armpit & my right one stands straight up --- It looks sooo BAD
and then I get weird tenting on the inner part of my left breast when I do this (when I say tenting I mean it looks like an older persons skin (like 60 years old) I am only 24! when you pinch/pull it up and it stays that way and doesn't go back down) because of my extra boob skin.

Now my nightmare continues.

I've been getting consultations with other doctors... Story so far will follow soon...

OMG you poor thing!!! I cannot BELIEVE that doctor! Did you at least report him to whatever medical board that oversees this type of thing? I really hope you find a great PS who can fix what this asshole did to you and give you the results you want.

Tanya, that is so terrible! What an ordeal to have to go thru, I feel for you...this is awful! Honestly, if I were you, I would talk to a lawyer. One who will take his commission from what he can get you for the 2 years of pain and suffering, and what it will cost to have a re-do with someone else. Were you documenting all of this? If not, I would get a calendar out and try to get it all down...even if it takes you a couple of weeks for it all to come back. This is not right, and I'm sure the PS's you are seeing now feel this way but can't say anything because it is one of their colleages (sp)!

I am compelled to reply to your story and say I am SO sorry this has happened to you. I hope this doctor gets his medical license yanked..whoever this yahoo is! I hope you are able to find a qualified surgeon to repair this damage and give you the breasts you've dreamed of. I will say a prayer for you

wow ~ tha'ts sooo unbelievably wrong what your PS did IMO. I would be furious as well and I think you totally deserve the refund for the lift that wasn't performed. I'm so sorry you have to go through this and I hope things get better for you.((BIG HUG))

Mine shrank, my friend who went to the same PS after I did had a big problem with not only size but a numbing sensation on the sides of her breasts, and the woman I know who got implants 10 years ago shrank a lot too =(

Mine definitely shrank by A LOT. I mean full DD to a full C is A LOT of shrinkage

I'm not by any means saying everyone's do/don't (I'm not a doctor), and i'm not trying to scare anyone with my story of what has happened to me so far, but one of the PS I spoke with told me he typically sees 20-30% shrinkage with salines so he prefers to augment with silicone... and since i've seen it first hand on myself and some people I know, I do believe it to be true. I'm sure there are a lot of bad doctors out there too. Each consultation I go on now... I want to see credentials, exactly how long and how many surgeries they've done like what I need/want, etc. and if they get weird about me asking, then they aren't the surgeon for me.

Thats exactly right. I went on a consult about a week ago and I explained to the PS everything that was wrong with my boobs and how I was so upset about it and he just listened and didn't make comments on the last PS's work... just on what needed to be done to correct my problems. I mean... even if the 1st PS would offer a re-do for free I would never trust him to operate on me again!

OOps, meant to hit quote and hit thanks. Anyway, I have to chime in on this, because I don't believe it is true at all and I don't want anyone worrying needlessly. This question was posed to one of the PS's on the "Ask a PS Forum," and he also said that it is not true. Salines do not shrink 20-30 %, any more than do silicones. You might lose size when your swelling goes down, but as long as the implant shell is intact, you're not going to be losing any saline or silicone. My personal experience, after having had my salines in for over 1 1/2 years, is NO change in size whatsoever. They're as big as they ever were,
