Well I'm new to this forum, and I'm new to breast implants. As a matter of fact, I got them yesterday! So here's my story:
I've wanted breast implants pretty much since I got out of highschool. I was never really big up-top. I always hovered around 36 or 38 b. Anyway I'm no small framed girl. I'm 168 lbs. and I'm 5'6" and I just never felt proportional, nor did I really feel like a girl. I couldn't wear the cute tops without wearing a padded bra. My husband is a youth pastor at a large church. We have abut 700 members. Trying to convince him was harder than anything but he finally got on board after the birth of my second child. I suppose nursing was the proof to him that I needed a boost physically, and confidence wise. I'm done having children so it was time to do something for myself. One of my friends asked me it I felt "convicted" in any way by doing this. I told her simply, No! Women wear eyeshadow, and color their hair and put on makeup, and try to dress nice. This is no different and I don't feel as if God is displeased with my decision. I think it is because I'm doing for the right reasons. It's for me, no one else! I had my consultation about 1 month ago with Dr. Tobin in Cape Girardeau MO. I am very pleased with him. He had an excellent bedside manner and he made it a simple process for me. I can't write any further without first saying that implants for me was a big decision. My mother died of breast cancer at age 25-- I myself have been having mammograms since I was 17. I am well aware of my risks! I was pleased that my doctor took about 30 minutes of his time to lay out everything he could think of regarding breast cancer, to help me in my decision making process. He felt ultimately though that if I just continue to stay on top of my mammos and get the MRI's every 2-3 years, I'll be okay. Now back to the boobies. At consultation we selected textured, round, moderate profile silicone implants, 510cc's each. I battled with the size for the next two weeks unsure of whether or not it was too big or small. We stuck with it and I am pleased. My surgery was yesterday morning at 9:00am at the Auburn Surgery Center. I took a pregnancy test before hand, thank the Lord it was negative! And the doctor came in and drew markings on me. I had a mild case of sagging but not enogh to require a lift so he felt that getting the 510's would fill me out enough and plump me up without the need for one. We also went over the muscle, and the incision was in the crease. I have heard conflicting things on the over/under argument with regard to breast cancer and mammos which was a serious, and main concern of mine. Dr. Tobin told me that my mammos would still get quality pictures so long as the implant remains soft and avoids capsular contracture. Also a radiologist friend of mine who does mammos for a living told me that it I go above the muscle the implant should not be "so large" that it cannot move around enough and "out of the way" for a mammogram. Basically, don't get one that is too large and tight. The surgery itself took about 1 hour and I stayed in the post-op recovery for an hour and half. Second to child birth, I've never felt pain quite like that! I felt, and still feel like there's a car sitting on my chest. Most of the pain I feel is generating from my sternum. Moving hurts! Getting in and out of bed hurts. It feels bruised to me. I have no sensation in my breasts below the first 1/4. I cannot feel my nipples, and I cannot feel my incisions. Hopefully things will get back to normal for me there. Also I think I have a bit of swelling. One sensation I've come to notice is the sloshing phenomenon. Although I have silicone gels, I feel there is water or air trapped between the outside of my implant and the breast pocket. It's a strange sensation. Yesterday I made the mistake of ever so slightly rolling on my side in bed and I felt my implant move. That was also quite wierd and alarming. I felt the texture of it skidding across the inside. I can't wait to get this compression bra off too, it's pretty snug and I'm dying to see my new chest! From what I can see, I'm so very happy. I feel whole now, something that I never felt before. ![]()

luvmyboobies! Thanks for your story - I really enjoyed it...What did your friend mean exactly "convicted" didn´t sound like an appropriate use of words! I dont believe God would agree or disagree on your decision...... I would like to say "Congratulations" to you and your boobies and sorry about your Mum (I am always very sad to hear about people losing their lives through cancer and at such a young age). Enjoy your life with your new additions and I hope you stay here in the forum and learn more about what a great bunch of ladies we are!!!!!!!!!

"convicted." hmmm...... That's an interesting thing to say. As a person holding a degree in Theology and a firm follower of Christ, I can tell you that there is nothing in Scripture about convicting for improving ourselves. It's when we use our looks or make them an idol that it becomes an issue --- know what I mean????? And in no way do I think anyone I've met has done that - good analogy you made about the makeup, etc.....

Congrats and good for you! I'll be joining you soon, Aug 27th!! I hope your healing goes well, and don't ever feel bad about doing this for yourself. I truly believe that God wants us to enjoy life. The happiness we feel can only spill out into the world, and we can always use more of that

Thank you so much for sharing your testimony and for touching on "what God thinks". I am also a Christian and I have thought about this same thing. But as TammieS has mentioned....
So true! Thank you TammieS.

Congratulations! I will also agree with TammieS....although I do not hold a degree in Theology I do have 2 years of study under my belt. Just be happy with your decision and do not let anyone try to make you feel any different. Enjoy your new additions and keep us posted on your recovery.

Its nice to know that I am not the only one who has been approached with the "whats worng with what God created" Christians as well as the "who are you to say that Gods work wasn't good enough." I like your analogy of the make up...I will have to use that the next time my mother in law brings this up. I think your story was amazing and I am so glad to have read it. Can't wait until I join the boobie club!
