I am feeling pretty good this evening so I thought I'd share my story. I'm wrapped up right now so no pictures yet, but my first post-op is in the morning and the dressings will come off. Then I'll have to take some pics, even though they probably look a little scary right now
![]() I didn't expect to be able to sleep much last night, so I took the opportunity to finally start reading Twilight, a book that my SIL gave me months ago that I just haven't had any time to start. I had to get up at about 4:15 to get ready, and didn't dose off until after 1am. When my alarm went off though I wasn't tired, just excited to get going. I got showered and partially dressed and then got my DH up to hop in the shower. I went downstairs and packed breakfast for my DS in his lunch box. He doesn't normally wake up until 7:30 or so, and he takes forever to eat so I figured it would be better to just let him eat once we got there. I finished getting ready, got the kidlet up, and we got on the road at about quarter to six to get there by 6:30. Stopped so my DH could get a coffee and the smell relaxed me. The drive was fine and there wasn't much traffic. My DH was definitely more nervous than I was but I don't think it had really hit me yet that this was actually happening. When we got to the surgery center I got checked in and when the nurse called me back I said my goodbyes to my DH and DS. I didn't want him to have to be confined to his stroller for a long time, so I figured it was best if they took off then. They went to my husband's office so he could get a couple things done while my DS ate his breakfast, then headed back to the surgery center and watched a movie in the car until the recovery nurse called them to come get me. Anyway, the nurse called me back and had me go in the restroom to change and leave a urine sample for my pregnancy test. They gave me some cozy slipper socks to wear and then got me in bed with some warm blankets. The nurse went over my history with me and then we just chatted while another nurse started my IV. She numbed it first with lidocaine and I literally didn't even feel the IV. Best IV ever! That is, until she got it all secured and then we realized my arm was swelling up. I guess sometimes it leaks around the vein, so she had to take it out and redo it in my hand. But, the second one didn't hurt either so it was cool. They both told me how great my PS is and that his patients do really well in recovery and are usually on their way after about 45 minutes. They also told me my Anesthesiologist is the one that all the nurses request for themselves when going under, so that put me at ease. They left for a bit, and I think that's when it hit me what I was doing. I started to cry just a little, thinking that I should have just hugged my baby a bit longer and harder before I went back, you know in case anything bad happened. Then I reminded myself that when it's my time it will be out of my hands, and that I really knew I was going to be okay. The anesthesiologist came to talk to me and was joking around and teasing me and I immediately felt more comfortable. I told him he better make sure that I wake up, and he promised I would, "but hopefully not until Dr. S is done." Haha, it's a good thing I liked him and let him get away with that one After that my PS came in with his surgical nurse and talked to me and got me marked up. He said that he may adjust the CC's a bit in surgery to achieve the look that I want but that it was going to turn out great. A few minutes later they took me to the OR and got me settled. The nurse put the compression stalkings on my legs and she and the anesthesiologist were talking to me. I don't remember about what really, but he never said he was giving me anything. I just remember waking up in recovery and thinking I didn't know they were even ready to start. The last thing I remembered was watching the nurse hang up my before pics on the wall in the OR, and then I woke up. It was good not to know what was coming, since it didn't give me a chance to be nervous!I woke up in recovery and looked down, and thought "they are huge!" which was a good reaction to have I think. I know I am a bit swollen and all bound up, so I am glad that they look bigger than I want if that makes sense. I was feeling good, just a bit of pressure but not really any pain. I had a cranberry juice and the nurse called my hubby to come in and go over my discharge instructions with me. They gave me some extra pain medication in my IV before they took it out, and then they let me get dressed. When standing up I did get a little bit light headed and nauseous (sp?) which has continued a bit through out the day. It seems when I exert too much energy that I start to feel a little sick, almost hungover. But then I close my eyes and doze for a while and wake up feeling okay. I've taken a couple pain pills today because I figure it will be better to stay on top of it, but I'm not really hurting. Just some pressure really. My DH has been really helpful and getting mad at me because I'm doing too much for myself. But I can get up on my own and use the bathroom, so that's nice. Okay this is getting really long and I need to rest so I will update more tomorrow after I get to see the new additions! Oh, and I got 255ccs on the left and 275ccs on the right... Mentor moderate profile, smooth, saline, under the muscle. Woohoo! |

I was a 34B before the BA, but pretty deflated. I had my post-op today and got to see my girls, and they look sooo much better than I expected! Definitely a little tight but not nearly the frankenboob that I expected
I'm not bruised at all either. My PS doesn't think that I'm swollen or that I will go down in size, just that they'll soften and settle. He wrapped me back up in guaze as one of my incisions started bleeding just a little after he removed the original dressings. I get to remove it tomorrow and shower, and then I can measure and try on my bathing suit for comparison! Before I left my PS gave me a little gift and said it was "a thankyou for letting me be the one to beat you up," which I thought was funny. I opened it in the car and it's a beautiful, yummy candle. Nice, huh?My DH was so nervous going today and told me he wasn't sure if he would want to look. His ex-gf got implants about 12 years ago now and she was in a lot of pain, and apparently they looked pretty scary so that's what he was expecting with me. He was really happy and kept saying how good they look already. I started massaging today, which is a little weird. I am so afraid I'm going to hurt something! But my PS assured me that I won't, and it actually felt a little better just after the first time. Oh, and I have only taken one Percocet today. It makes me a little queasy, so I just have been taking tylenol and so far so good! I am so, so glad that I went through with this and have to say recovery so far isn't nearly as horrible as I was expecting. I know I'm not totally out of the woods yet, but I think I'll be able to handle it! I'm just going to take it really easy the next few days while my hubby is home. Thanks everyone for the positive thoughts and congrats! |
