My turn! I've got boobies!

Well, the major part of the journey is over. Here's my story!

I have always been very self conscious about my small breasts, but was satisfied with what those expensive padded bras and silicone cutlets could do for me. In 2000, I had my first of two children and was amazed at how much better I felt with my beautiful small C cup while nursing. I felt like such a woman. After b'feeding, the pretty boobies went back to my 36A size. They were still pretty perky and fairly symmetrical, just very small.

Forward to almost 9 years later: I still wanted a breast augmentation and even more so as I felt more knowledgable and felt it was getting easier to do and safer each passing day. For the past 3 years, I increasingly got more and more self conscious about my breast and decided to really seek out the breast augmentation option. We moved to a new area last summer where there was a very highly and liked doctor that was only 15 minutes away. I went to my consult appointment expecting nothing and came out ready to do it!!!

I really opted to just get breasts that were similar to my b'feeding boobies in size. I know about boobie greed (got it!) but knew this size would be best proportionally and not give me the unwanted attention of "the girl with the boob job". So I began with wanting silicone because I really think they ARE amazing. But I am a self-admitted hypochondriac and knew that any little twinge of pain would make me worry. It's silly, I know, but I was trying to be realistic and go with what would be best long term for me.

Today, March 18- I arrived at the PS surgical center at 7:30. Three wonderful ladies were there to get me going. I was surprisingly very calm and ready to go. I never allowed myself to worry, even though there was a moment when I kissed my kids to go to school this morning, I choked back a few tears.

First- my husband chatted with the nurse about what his role was. Then I was sent away for pre-op pictures. I then got into my gown, was able to leave panties and socks on, and put a robe on over it all. I was walked to my bed, which was being warmed with a heater and warm blankets. It was awesome. The nurse took my vital signs and asked me a bunch of the routine questions. They ladies working there were very chatty and friendly and the radio was quietly playing pop music.

In about 20 minutes, my PS came in and made a couple of markings for my creases. I gave him my "this is what I want" picture and he felt like it was something he could get very close to doing since the pic looked very similar to my pre-op boobies. I also brought "what I don't want" pictures and he said I didn't have to worry about that look because I wasn't going too big. He mentioned how my right boob would get a little more saline since it was a bit smaller than my left.

So off went my PS and in came the anesthesiologist. He is exactly what I hoped he'd be- very laid back and understanding. He teased me because I was an anesthesia "virgin" and answered my 50 different virgin questions. I was completely comfortable with him and wished I had not spent SOOOO much time stressing over that part these past few weeks. Right before we were going to go into surgery, I told him that I was getting anxious and he gave me some "liquid courage". I swear within a minute I said "hey, this stuff can't be working already, can it? I feel like partying". He laughed and buh-bye, I was in la-la land. I woke up 1 minute later, just kidding, but I woke up in the recovery room in what SEEMED like a minute (as everybody says on this board!).

So I woke up and felt really good for oh, about 5 minutes. Then the nausea kicked in. The anesthesiologist said he had given me nausea meds and pain meds before I woke up. I think I threw up twice after drinking some ginger ale, but it was so minor and really made me feel WAY better. I was given a phenegren supposity and that helped some, too. I was nauseated still but it was manageable.

I head the nurses going over a ton of post-op with my husband and then I was told it was time to go. I'll be honest- I was having a good amount of pain everytime I breathed in. I could only take shallow breaths without it really hurting. The drive home sucked. We had to take hubby's Ford truck so my mom could have the car. It was the bumpiest ride and I must have said the f work 2,000 times on the way home when we hit bumps.

So it's been 6 hours since I've been home now. I've been in bed the whole time, except for a few times to walk towards the bathroom to get circulation going. My actually boobs aren't hurting at all. It is just the muscle tightness that sucks. Any movements and breathing still hurt but staying in bed and doing limited activity is obviously the way to go to get through it for me.

I peaked underneath the sports bra (which I have to wear for 48 hours, then I can shower and put it back on until Monday). They look shockingly good! Not much swelling up at the top at all. I actually think they are already where they should be, so I think minimal dropping with be needed. Yay!! For mommies- it really does feel like engorgement (but pain-free thanks to the meds).

The oddest part about it all- my tongue is numb at the tip! LOL. The office just said that they put something in my mouth during surgery that they had numbing cream on, so it must have hit my tongue. How annoying. I sound so dumb when I talk. My friends think I'm drunk, but really I just have a numb tongue.

I'll post before and after pics in the next couple of days. Right now, I'm alternating between being wide awake and exhausted. Overall, my experience was great (so far!). The pain was expected but I still suck at being in any pain. Thank goodness for meds!

Oh, I think I got 325 cc's and 340 cc's, but I can't remember. I will let you know later when I update. Hoping for a good night!!

Fast forward 24 hours post surgery- I was extremely sore in my back last night. It hurt so bad to move around and I would start shivering and be in pain if I sat straight up. But I slept well on the couch last night! I am now feeling waaaaay better. The muscles in my back are still sore on one side only, but I am moving around great now!

My boobs are surprisingly low (in a good way) and not very sore at all. I get to take off my bra tomorrow to shower, so I'll add some pics soon!!! The first day was pretty tough but I have had a major turnaround in just the last 4 hours.

My advice to you is to make sure you get up and at least walk around your room once in a while so your muscles don't get any more tighter than they already are. Once I started doing that I immediately began feeling better!

Oh yeah, I already have boobie greed! LOL!! But that was expected.
