Thumbs up Stephnz's BA Story

Hi ladies,

I just wanted to share my experience with you all, especially for those of you who have an upcoming surgery or are thinking of undergoing a breast augmentation. I know I found it really helpful to read about other womans experiences when it was leading up to my op

I am 22 years old, pre breast augmentation I was a 32b (only just, I was quite flat!). For as long as I could remember I had wanted bigger boobs, and at age 21, I was sick of waiting for the girls to grow so I made the decision to do something about it.

I consulted a surgeon who a few of my friends had been to with fantastic results. I told him I wanted a nice natural look, a full C, maybe a small D cup so he recommended a 260cc implant for me to start with (as I am quite small). We eventually settled on 280cc cohesive gel silicone overs, with a crease incision. As I was comfortable with my Dr, and had done my research, I booked my surgery for three weeks after my second consultation with him.

I went in for my op on Nov 14th 2006, very nervous and excited! Most of all I was scared of post operative pain as I'm a total wuss when it comes to pain.... When I arrived the nurse took me in and I changed into a gown, she took my blood pressure etc, and gave me something to settle my stomach. My surgeon came in and made some markings on my breasts and reassured me that they were going to look great. After a few questions with the anesthetist, I was ready to go in. I walked into the operating theatre, lay down on the table with my heart beating so fast, I remember actually shaking I was so nervous!

My iv was put in and I was administered some antibiotics. My lovely surgeon held my hand and hummed a little song (so cute) while they gave me a sedative to relax me. I felt all floaty and relaxed, then they told me they were going to put in my anesthetic in. I felt a cold sensation creeping up my arm from my iv. My last thought was "When is this stuff going to start working?" Then literally, it felt like a second later, I opened my eyes and I was in recovery!

I felt very groggy and heavy, I was kind of drifting in and out of sleep for awhile. I was cold and shivery, so the nurse put a lovely warm blanket on me, she then asked if I was in any pain, my chest felt quite heavy and sore so she gave me some morphine through my iv. I was fine after that! I stayed in recovery for an hour or so until I was fully awake, the nurse helped me sit up and get dressed, showed me how to empty my drains (which were removed the next day) and gave me some more painkillers. I then walked out to see my bf and my sister who were waiting for me, they couldn't believe I was walking around! During surgery I was injected with local anesthetic around my boobs & along my collarbone so I was quite numb that first day which was great. I went in for surgery at 7.30am and was home by 1.00pm.

That day was quite easy, I just rested at home with my friends and my mum and sister. I had many peeks at my new girls, they looked amazing already! Very high and round, but I could tell they were going to look great. My recovery was actually very good, the second and third days were the worst for pain, but it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. The most annoying thing was not being able to use my arms for anything, getting out of bed was impossible... My lovely bf helped me with that and was very good at arranging my 5 pillows for me. I had a shower the next day after my drains were removed back at my ps's office. My boobies felt so weird, they were very numb and swollen but I loved them!

After lots of icing with ice packs, rest and painkillers, I was almost back to normal after a couple of weeks. I had to take things really easy and be careful not to over do it, I definitely got tired easily. After three weeks my swelling was gone. Over the next few months my boobs went through lots of changes, now at three months post op they are so soft and jiggly and have dropped really nicely. My scars and still quite visible so I am using bio oil daily. I also found my skin got quite itchy from all the stretching it had to do so I was constantly moisturising my new additions.

Overall, this surgery has been such a positive experience, I am so happy with my boobies, they make me feel more feminine and curvy, and I love the fact that I can wear whatever I like now! They feel very natural too. Bra shopping was wonderful, I am now a 32c/d depending on the bra

I hope this has been helpful to some of you, it is certainly a huge decision to make, and a major change, but such an amazing thing to do. We are so lucky we have the opportunity to do this.... I know this forum was a huge help to me leading up to and after my surgery so thank you to everyone who offered kind words and gave advice. It's great being a memeber of the boobie club now!

Stephanie xx
