From AA to....?? My breast augmentation Story! (long, new pics too!)

I've always wanted boobs. Since as long as I can remember. I'll never forget the day in 4th grade when my best friend told me she wore a C cup! I was totally flat. Then middle school rolled around, I got my period, and I was so excited! I just *knew* I would be getting boobs soon. And I did.... Kinda. At that point in my life, I was pretty over weight. 5'1 or 5'2 and around 180lbs. I was wearing a 38C, but they were not cute and perky. More pointy and saggy. I'd make my mother buy me ultra padded strap less bras, which I would then wear under another padded bra with straps. I kept this up till, well, yesterday. Although, over the years I graduated on to gel inserts, and eventually fake silicone breasts that they sell on ebay for breast cancer patients.

When I was 16, I lost about 70 lbs, and ever ounce of breast tissue I had. I was completely and totally flat. Since then I've grown from a 36AAAAAA to maybe an AA. Never more. I tried the creams, pills, all of it. Nothing worked. In fact, one pill caused me to gain *15* lbs, but none of it in my breasts!

When I was about 17, I started researching Breast augmentation. I knew that one day, I would have it done. My main problem was money- I moved out on my own when I was 16, and was far from financially secure. Over the next few years, I tried to save up, but something always came up, like car repairs, a divorce, a family emergency.... Always something. So, I wore my padded bras and my inserts, and fooled the world. In fact, only 2 men have EVER seen my breasts. My ex husband, and my current bf. I dated my current bf for 2 YEARS (yes, years) before I would let him see or feel my boobs. He told me years later that he always knew they must have been small, but that he didn't care, he loved them the way they were. He always made me feel good about my body, and assured me that he didn't want me any other way.



Ok, fast forward to this spring. One night me and him got drunk and I expressed my long time want of breast implants. We had talked briefly about it before, but I don't think he ever thought I was serious! I got online that night and requested information from several plastic surgeons in the area. One of the places never sent me anything! Never a phone call, info pack, nadda! The other, Dr. Lettieri @ Carolina Plastic Surgery, sent out an info pack just a few days later. I called and set up a consult. June 11th. I was so excited, and so nervous! And so afraid of letting anyone see my breasts, even my potential PS.

The day of my consult, I knew I didn't want to wear my padded bra and insert combo, so I picked up a little 36AA padded bra to wear. I looked SO small. I was ashamed to walk into the gas station to get a drink on my way there. It felt terrible.


When I got to the office (which was really nice!) The receptionist was SO nice. I gave her my paper work she had sent me to fill out, and I sat down to wait. A few minutes later, Tracy, who was just as sweet and amazing, came and got me and we went back to a little room where I had to watch a video on breast augmentation's. After that, she took me to another room where we went over my paper work, and she had me put on a gown. I was SO embarrassed, but she was so nice, it put my mind at ease. She had to take pictures of me, I know my face was about 10 shades of red... Lol.. Then she brought in some sizers and a sports bra. First she helped me put in 325's, which I said were too small. Then she put in 350's, which were a little bigger, but still not big enough.... Then the PS came it.
I knew immediately that I was going with Dr. Lettieri. He was so sweet, and very professional. Plus, he was conservative enough that I wasn't worried I be HUGE, as he promised me he had never put implants in a womans body that didn't fit HER body, as this is what causes 95% of complications. We talked about size for awhile, and I told him I wanted to be a nice full C cup... He measured me in several different ways, took some notes, and said he didn't talk bra sizes, but that he thought he could fit 325 to 350 if I went with silicone, or possibly more if I did saline. He definitely pushed the silicone, which I thought felt amazing But was so much more money

We went over what kind of medicines I could and couldn't take before my surgery, that I needed to stop tanning, and smoking (Ahhh!) And a bunch of other things. Then he left so I could get dressed, brought me back a nice surgery planner from allergen, and sent me to his patient coordinator, Gina.

So, me and Gina went over payment, it would be $4900 for saline, or $5900 for silicone, and that included everything except for the blood work, which would be $211, and the prescriptions. She said if I wanted to book a surgery date, I would need to put $500 down that day. So, I asked her what was available, and the soonest she had was July 7th. Since 7 is my lucky number, I just couldn't turn it down!! So I was booked for 7/7/09. I paid the $500, and was scheduled for a pre op on June 25th and Blood work on June 29th.

I left the office floating on a cloud

But, then started the difficult part.... Financing.
My bf had agreed to co sign a loan for me because my ex husband (aka, the immature loser who didn't work, but loved to spend money) had ruined my credit. We had tried surgeryloans.com first. We had been pre approved, and were waiting to get the call back. But it didn't come. Days went by... I finally called, and they said they were waiting on final approval from one of their lenders, and to call back if we didn't here from them by the 16th. Well.... We didn't. So I called. And they had declined us. I freaked out!
That's night me and the bf filled out online apps to care credit (in his name, since I already had a care credit card that was co signed with my mom, for dental work, but it only had $900 AC on it, and they had already denied a CLI) and he was denied (with a 700 credit score!) And then we tried Chase Health Advantage, DENIED

At this point, I was freaking! I had 6 days to come up with A LOT of money! And not doing it was just NOT and option! So, I tried a little hometown loan place who agreed to give me 1500$ if I. Used my car title.... And paid it back within 18 months, with nearly 40% interest.... At first I said no, but then I did end up doing it. So, now, with the available funds on my CC, my car loan, the money I had already paid, and a little extra money I would have from my check that week, I was still short $1800.

I ended up borrowing it from a close friend (step father) and agreed to pay him back by the end of the year (which, along with my other bills is gunna leave me broke as a joke! But ohhh well!)

My pre op was long. And I mostly just sat in a room, waiting on the doctor. Tracy went over more paper work with me, and gave me my prescriptions, the PS came in and measured me one more time, I told him I was going with saline, and we talked about size again, he pointed out that my left breast was slightly smaller, and that my left nipple pointed out to my side more than my right, which I hadn't ever noticed! He said he would probably go 20-30 cc's larger in that breast to make up for the different size, and I would most likely only hold 360 to 370 in my right and 390 or so in my left, but that he would go as big as possible in surgery, as long as he felt it was safe and the results were natural looking, which is what I wanted!

Then I went back to Gina's office and paid! Once I had paid, it all felt SO real! This was it!

On the following Monday, I went to get my blood work and pregnancy test done. It was fast and painless and I was in and out.

Now I just had to wait!
The hardest part was that I was off my ADD meds, and I was having some major drama in my life. My brother's son had just been born, 3 days after he found out he was leaving September 1st to go to Iraq for 15 months (Army), my sister, who lives 1000 miles away, had called me and told me her boyfriend was beating her, and, on top of that, my boyfriend had hacked into my e-mail, misunderstood something, and dumped me! What a mess!



Me and my boy did work things out though, and he agreed to drive me to and from surgery and stay with me for several days! Thank god!

The day before:
I had an app. With my therapist (Working on that ADD) and then school till 8pm. Then I went out and bought a few things to wear after surgery, went to see my grandparents, and then got home about 11pm! And I still had to clean my house!
I think I finally got to bed about 2 am. We had to get up at 6 so I could take a shower and get ready, and be there by 8.
The day of:
That morning, well, this morning(!!) I woke up kinda nervous and so excited! I took a shower, shaved, washed my hair, and got dressed, I had one of those cute little Old Navy yoga outfits to wear, the capris and a zip up.

We got in the car, drove to the PS office, about 15 minutes away. We had to use the side entrance since they were not open yet. Tracy met us at the door and me and my bf went back to a little room. She had me change into a HUGE but comfy purple gown and some cute and warm purple socks. Then she had me take my anti nausea meds, and gave me 2 more meds for reflex, I don't know If they always do this, or if it was because I have had lots of problems with acid reflex and they knew that.
Also, it was super funny because she asked my bf for his name (Jason) but the called him/wrote down James! Which is my ex husbands name!!! We all had a good laugh about that!

Then she took my bf to the surgery waiting area, and told him she would update him throughout the surgery. He was a bit worried (as was I) because of my medical history. Then she came back and got me and took me to the OR.
She put a nice warm blanket on me, and these weird things on my feet to help with blood clots or something.

The anesthesia doc came in and he was SO funny! In fact, I think I knew him from an old job I worked! He kept joking with me like "I hope nothing happens like what happened yesterday!!! Haha " it helped relax me because he was funny! Then the PS came in and drew on my boobies.... He pointed out the size and nipple differences again and said that he had ordered several different size implants to work with. The last thing I said to him was " REMEMBER, as BIG as POSSIBLE doc!" And the nurses laughed. Then Tracy started my IV, and they put something in there to relax me, and one nurse told me that when I woke up, I'd have beautiful big boobs, and I smiled and agreed, and that was the last thing I remember!

Waking up EARLY:
I clearly (well, sorta clearly) remember waking up in the OR when they were taking the blankets off me. I remember PAIN! And then nothing....
Then I woke up in the recovery room, and another lady was with me, a nurse, but I don't remember her name. I couldn't really talk, but the pain was so bad I started crying. Then I finally got out that I was in so much pain, and she sent my bf after my vicodin in the car. I took one of those, and she gave me some ginger ale, but I wouldn't eat the crackers, because I hate crackers, lol!
Then she tried to have me sit up, but I got so nauseas, so she helped me lay back down and then got cool moist towels and rubbed my neck and forehead, which really helped and was so sweet! Finally, when the pain subsided, she sent my bf to get his truck, got me into my surgical bra, and my clothes, then into a wheel chair, and rolled me out.

I hardly remember the ride home, except that it was about 1pm, 100 degrees out side (south Carolina!) And my boyfriends AC wasn't working!



As soon as we got back to my town house I had him strip me down and wash me with cold water... I was burning up! I took another pain pill and passed out, waking up every hour or so. Around 5 I woke up in pain and SO HUNGRY so I took 1.5 vicodin and ate some pretzels, fruit, and a few other things. I have not been able to fall back asleep *yet* but its coming up time for my pain meds again, so I think I'm going to take 2 and I hope I will pass back out for at least 3 or 4 hours.

My post op is at 10:30am tomorrow, and I LOVE my BOOOOOBS!

*I just posted a new (public) album with the few shots I could get of them! Oh my god, I have some cleavage.... Its amazing! Best decision I EVER made!*

Yep! I just wanted boobs, I would have done nearly anything to get them! Honestly, I feel like a real girl for the first time EVER today... Its awesome!

The first night was pretty bad. It wasn't the pain.... i just couldn't sleep! In fact, the pain meds took all the pain away... but they hyped me up so bad that i ended up sitting up online till 4am! Then when i finally started to feel a bit tired, i went ahead and took 2 more, hoping that i would wake up early enough to take the next dose without having to feel what it would be like with no meds in my system. Falling asleep was hard because i had to stay on my back, and at a 45 degree angle, when normally i sleep on my stomach and without a pillow. But, eventually i did pass out!

When i woke up, i think it was 8:30am, and the first thing i tried to do was sit up... BIG MISTAKE! The pain meds had worn off and i was so stiff! the minute i got into an upright position, my boobies we hurting SO BAD. I guess this is what they call morning boob? I woke up my bf so he could get my pain meds and took 2 more, then i laid very still for about 30 minutes... when i did sit up again it still felt weird, but not to bad. It went away after i was up and walking around.

My post op was at 10:30 this morning. We ended up being 15 minutes late because my bf could NOT get my hair up into a ponytail!!! It looked terrible because i have naturally curly/wavy hair and it was SUCH a mess! finally i just gave up and said the hell with it.

At my post op, Tracy met me at the door and took me back to an exam room. She helped me get out of the sundress i was wearing and took off my surgical bra... the girls look REALLY pointy! (I have new pics up, so check them out!) but so symmetrical and nice! I LOVE them already! She said everything looked great, and assured me that they would drop and fill out the bottom more. She scheduled me to come back next Tuesday at 3pm to get my sutures and all out. Then i can wear a regular sports bra or a non under wire bra.

The entire post op only took about 15 minutes. I told her my pain meds were messing with my sleep (Vicodin) so she had the PS write me a Rx for Darvacet which i guess isn't as strong, or is at least different. Then that was it, and we left!

I wanted to pick up a few more things i could wear this week, so me and the bf went by Old Navy and i had him help me try on a few shirts and dresses. I ended up finding 3 that i could get on and off by myself. Then we went to Target because i wanted to look for a non under wire bra. I found a few, but they wouldn't let him come back in the dressing room to help me try them on, so i couldn't do it, even though i tried by myself. I tried on a 38 B and a 38 C, and i really couldn't tell which one would fit better. So, i didn't get anything. To bad, because they were on sale for $6! Then he bought me some new undies and some new pajamas, i picked up some snacks, and we were on the way to the pharmacy.

OH, and the WORST part of this entire thing so far is the ITCHING! I must have looked crazy, because every 2 minutes I'd have to stop in the store and have him itch my back and shoulders for me! The itching is SO intense! So, at the pharmacy, i got some anti itch lotion and my new Rx filled, and then we went and picked up some movies and went back home.

So far, i feel pretty good, and when my vicodin wears off I'm going to try the Darvacet. Hopefully that wont get my all hyped up... i always react so strangely to medication!

Thanks for sharing your story. I can relate to you. I've been completely flat chested all my life, and trying to fool everyone by wearing padded bras and silicone inserts. I felt like I wasn't completely a women yet. At all, my body was still of a juvenile. Like you, I didn't show my boyfriend my boobs until 1 1/2 into your relationship. Even then, I was ashamed of my body. I felt like I was a freak. I now feel normal after my augmentation. I can wear clothes that I always wanted to wear, but couldn't before. I can buy lingerie and feel sexy. Congrats on your breast augmentation and to the new you.
