![]() | Actually, 2 BAs - one a redo
I never thought I would need a breast augmentation. Since that time I have learned to never say "never". I never thought I would need a lift, or go for silicone, either, so I have had quite the education these past two years. I always had a C+ or DD figure, depending on my weight. Then my doctor prescribed me some medication that put me on a rollercoaster weightwise. I gained a lot, then lost 40 lbs. I also bf 2 kids and lost almost all the volume in what I learned was the "upper pole". I still had breasts, but they were a far cry from what they were. Then I bought this bra from Victoria's Secret. It boosted me up and made me look like I used to. I asked my dh if he wouldn't like it if I looked like this all the time, and the search for a PS was on...I found Dr. Ari in my area. I clicked with him almost immediately. He was an older gentleman with 25+ years of experience and only had one infection in his entire time of practicing. He had virtually "no ego" and was so nice and explained everything. He talked to me like there was no one else in the office. I tried on sizers - they looked so huge! He explained all the differences to me and gave me information to read on the different brands. I decided to go with Mentor, smooth round 400 saline unders, areola incision. He did about 385 on lefty since she was bigger. I was shocked when he told me I would need a lift. He told me I would need the Benelli lift and explained it to me. But when he was finished with me my girls were perky, and they hadn't been for a long time! The day of my surgery I wore one of my husband's button down tops, a pair of pajama bottoms and slip on shoes. The hardest part was getting the IV in. The operating room was freezing cold. The nurses brought me some warm blankets, and the anesthesiologist told me (she was wearing a Curious George cap, I remember) she was going to give me something to "warm me up". Soon I felt warm and fuzzy, and then I fell asleep. When I woke up I was bandaged stem to stern (I had a MTT, too) but surprisingly wasn't in any pain, I just had a feeling of engorgement in my boobs. My stomach didn't hurt unless I coughed and I was relieved to find I didn't have any drains. I went home and recuperated for 8 long weeks, having to wear a compression garment on my stomach and in the surgical, button up the front bra and only able to lift my arms a few inches each week. By the fourth month I was pleased with my boobs but I noticed rippling in righty. I also had the boobie greed bad. So on my 6th month anniversary I was accepted into the Mentor study for cohesive gels. I was hoping for 800's but all Dr. Ari could fit in was 650's. I had the crease incision this time. The first time I went for the redo it was a no-go, he spotted a tiny red spot on my breast and said he wouldn't take a chance. I was crushed. He sent me to the infection specialist who gave me strong antibiotics and 24 hours later I was back at the hospital ready to try again. This time it was a "go". Again, the hardest part was the IV. Everything was the same as before. I even had the same anesthesiologist (but she wore a different hat this time lol). When I came out of surgery they gave me some crackers and Coke, and a pain pill. But I felt fine. I asked, "800?" and they said, "No." I said, "700?" and they said, "No." I said, "Oh. What then?" and they said, "650 was all he could do and still close you up, sweetie." I was disappointed then but am happy now, I realize with the 800's I would have been too big. I don't have boobie greed anymore! I wore flannel pajamas and slip on shoes for my redo, so that I could go right to bed when I got home. This time my recovery took 6 weeks - same thing with the restricted arm movements. I will say, I was a little unusual in that it took 11 months for lefty to completely drop but I believe that is because I had more breast tissue there and so she had more to work through, whereas righty was stuffed to the max. So here I am a year and a month later, that is my story. I can't wait for bikini season and to hit the beach! I hope my story helped someone. Love, Lizzie

Lizzie, Thanks so much for posting your story! You've been on the forums and had your breast augmentation(s) before I ever joined. I feel like I am catching up, on this thread, with you ladies that had your breast augmentation before I joined. And I love that! It makes us all closer to each other. We all have something in common and yet it's also our differences that make reading the stories so interesting. Annie |

![]() | Thanks, sweetie!
Thanks, Annie, I hope my story was helpful! (((Hugs))) The only thing I forgot to put in was, what an easy recovery I had! I was off my pain meds by day 3 even with the MTT and I was feeling really good, except I could only move my arms so many inches per week according to my PS' instructions. But I wasn't really in any pain! I had a wonderful surgeon. When he retired 12/31 of last year I cried. I was so lucky to have had 2 BAs by that man. I am looking forward to reading your story should you decide to post it! I certainly have enjoyed reading the other ladies' stories. I think this was a great idea Nikki had for us to share our "tales from the front". Thanks for writing to me! XOXO Lizzie

Sounds like a story I might be able to tell later. I already am not happy with my size, I thought 390 CC's looked huge!! Now they are in and its like this is it, what? Was your PS wanting you to wait any specific time to get a re-do? Mine says come back in a year if I feel the same. I know I will so why wait? Uggh. Yes I fit in a D/DD but it LOOKS like a full C, if that. How much more was it for the re-do? Glad you are happy now, I am jealous! You go girl!!! Thanks for your story.
