![]() | Finally have the chest of a woman!
I decided I would post the beginning of my surgery since I am only two days out. Especially since I need something to do to keep my mind off of being uncomfortable! I have had small breasts my whole life since I am half asian and mostly take after that side. I remember when I was younger bring embarassed that I didn't need a bra in sixth grade or so when my friends did. When I was older and I would mention to my mom that I would consider one later, she said she always would have done it. This encouraged me. Once I was in high school I had at least filled out to a full A, which was better than the nothing before. Being a 32A was not fun because they always seem to only have the plain colored bras in that size. Then I had my first child, my son, and after breastfeeding dropped to a small A. They were still perky although small so I tried to convince myself I was lucky they didn't sag or get stretch marks. Plus I wanted more kids. Then five years later I had my daughter. I breast fed her longer for about six months and this dropped me down to a 32AA! All of my A bras were too big. And working out in a sports bra i had the chest of a boy! So when I finished breast feeding my husband and I decided to start going to consultations to learn more. My first consult was a pusher for big breasts and silicone, and being small I wasn't comfortable with that. My second was a woman who was very friendly and I considered booking, but she only did saline. Then I went to my third consult on the recommendation of a friend and he was the one. He said he wouldn't go too big for my frame and was very professional. Plus he gave me choices. Even though he wasn't as bubbly as the woman, I felt someone doing my surgery should be more down to business. He was booked out for a month or so, and I decided to pick one a little further out since I was so nervous. Well November 6th came so quickly! Surprisingly I was not nervous from two weeks out on because I tried not to think about it. Even as we arrived at the hospital and did the IV, I was calmer than I expected it was surreal. It helped they numbed my hand first. I also didn't like that I had to be completely undressed (I've heard some girls saying they could at least keep on their bottoms) The whole staff was great, I worried some might judge me. My doctor marked me up and I was given the beginning of the anesthesia and wheeled back to the OR. (which was freezing by the way). Last I remembered they were strapping down my legs and laying out my arms. When I woke up I was by the nurse's station and the room was fluttering. I remember being in pain and the nurse gave me medicine but said it would still hurt. I felt like a wimp! She mentioned she was taking me back to a recovery room to see my husband. I must have conked out again and next thing I know its after 1! My surgery was at 730 and we were supposed to be out before 12 but I guess the anesthesia hit me hard. Taking so long to wake up made everyone nervous waiting to hear the outcome. Well after eating some crackers and going to the bathroom (which was difficult) I was able to leave. The doctor came by and said everything was great, but my chest wall was tight so there will be more pain. Also he was only able to fit in 300ccs, 325 looked too big. He showed me a peek but I honestly can't remember what they look like. I got home that afternoon and my husband was such a big help. He had to help me sit down, stand up, go to the bathroom, brush my teeth, and fetch everything! I felt so helpless. After a long nap, that evening I felt better. It didn't hurt if I didn't move. Even if I did it was just a lot of pressure and discomfort. I didn't sleep too well that night because I probably slept too much already. Plus I kept worrying I'd miss my antibiotic. I was trying to sleep in the recliner, but it didn't work out as well as I'd hoped. Ice packs and lying still was the best. By day two, my chest was less tender but my back was and still is killing me! I did feel better. I tried to walk every so often. I just couldn't eat yet. Nothing sounded good and you can only eat so many crackers and jello! That afternoon I started to feel nauseated. I was so disappointed because I still had the patch behind my ear and I did ok the day before. I got sick once and thankfully it didn't hurt too bad even though it was an empty stomach. I felt better after that but still not up to eating. I was also afraid to take any more pain meds, but I had to force down the antibiotic. Tonight I am lying in my bed with pillows and an ice pack on my back. Feels better and I hope tomorrow will be even better. I would love a make do shower! I guess my biggest complaint is how bad my back hurts, I wasn't expecting this. Its worse than my chest. I am not sure if its from my previous back injury or its common. Anwyway I am back in for my checkup on Thursday. I'll post more later! |

thanks for sharing! It's good to hear other womans experiences- I am currently on day 5 post op. I didnt have to strip down at all! I layed on the table with my gown fully on and they discreetly pulled my arms out to get my Iv going.. They didnt expose my chest until I was out. I even had a robe over my shoulders until I layed down. I know its hard to eat - but just like that first trimester of pregnancy when eating feels like the LAST thing you want to- it is the best thing for you. Try to nibble... It will help... Chin up girl! This is just a moment in time, and will soon be a distant memory.

Here is a couple more days to add on, things are improving! After getting over the sick feeling and finally feeling like eating on the second night, it was a big improvement. I think the anesthesia really kicked my butt because of how long I was out and how long I felt out of it. I was feeling better to call friends and family for updates and played where's waldo with my son for awhile. I considered stopping the pain medicine, but just before going to bed I took one since I wasn't sick anymore. I preferred to have a good night sleep since there was no way to sleep with my back hurting. I had to wake my husband up to give me my antibiotic and with all the pressure in the early morning I took another lortab. Besides the very first dose after surgery, I only took 1 of the 2 recommended lortabs each time. Day 3 I woke up pretty tight and uncomfortable. I laid around until my son came in the room and decided to try and move around. I felt better after and even went downstairs for the first time and had breakfast and coffee with my husband. I even tried to start cleaning the kitchen because I was in shock of what a mess he made since I'd seen it last! I couldn't give him too much heck because of how wonderful he had been all weekend. He stopped me and promised he'd do it that day. I only managed to load about half the dishwasher. I definitely felt more mobile so I asked my husband to help me to a fake shower. Luckily our shower is a huge standup so he was able to get in there with me and use the handheld to avoid getting my midsection wet. It felt sooo good to not be gross!! After all this movement I was a little more uncomfortable but not in pain, so I decided to sit for awhile. I felt fine after some rest and was able to go sit outside and enjoy the bizarre 70 degree weather in November that Buffalo never has. I even went with him and my son and daughter to a family birthday party. Not that I did much, I sat on the couch and just hung out since I was going stir crazy. Only half of my family knew about it, so the other half were asking "what's wrong?" I only replied I was tired because I wasn't about to bring it up around everyone! This worked. My daughter is only 16 months so my mom had been keeping her to help. We took her home this night and this made things more difficult. She just wanted to sit with me and for me to pick her up. It was hard not to. I would allow her to climb up and sit with me, but even that was painful when she would bump me. Now my husband was overwhelmed doing mommy duty and taking care of me too! That night I still was continuing to improve. There was discomfort when I stood up at first or moved my arms too much. I didn't need it but I decided to take my last lortab just to help me sleep. This didn't work too well I was up every so often anyway. Day 4 My daughter ended up waking up early about 530 so my husband had to go rock her in the chair so she wouldn't come into bed and bump me. This took an hour and made me feel so bad since he had to work after too. I tried to get up and lay out everyone's clothes and help my son get ready for school. I wasn't allowed to do much. I think he definitely appreciates my hectic mornings now! Between the kids and the dog, he was feeling it. He managed to make it and dropped my son to school and my daughter to my mother in laws. Today has been so boring because I feel much better, yet I know not to push it. I tried to do easy things like dishes and even loosely made the bed. I wish I could do the laundry but we have a huge thing of detergent I wouldn't be able to lift! I have much more arm movement today. I even realized early this morning I could put my arm up and behind my head. So I am looking forward to being able to wash my own hair soon! It's driving me crazy sitting around and I just want to take a peek. I have tried but looking into the bra is hard because there is gauze covering them. They sure do look huge and thick now but that is all dressing! I'm hoping with more improvement soon I will be able to take care of my daughter alone except for someone putting her into her crib. With taking the nausea patch off, finishing the antibiotics, being done with lortabs, and finally gaining some arm movement things are feeling great. The only weird thing has been these icy feelings from inside, not painful just weird. Now just waiting for some softening and easng of pain from being bumped. Hope this gives insight to some. I know reading everyone else's stories was so helpful to me! As soon as I can I will post some pics. I totally forgot to take before pictures, I hope my doctor did for comparison. |

I also had mine on the 6th! Mine was pretty complicated though, as she had to try about 5 different sizes in me because they were totally different shapes and sizes. Left one was only a large A, right one a small C! I used to always pad my left breast to fill out my bra there, so people never knew I even had this problem. I'm so relieved to finally have this done, its held me back so much all my life. I also had them lifted....the C cup was lower than the other so there was much work to be done. Hoping for a nice full, natural looking D cup. Hope thats what I get! Good luck to you and hope you love your results! ;o)

CONGRATS on the new girls!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing your story. I enjoyed hearing it. I am also pretty worried about how much house will look with me down for a few days and my husband in charge of the 3 kids!! I have to remember that it will eventually get cleaned and it won't matter in the big scheme of it all! |

Congrats and thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed reading your story. I feel for you with the sports bra thing- I am a 34A now and in a sports bra I feel like my stomach sticks out farther than my chest. It's really embarrassing. I've never been to the gym. I do all my working out at home, or running and biking around the neighborhood. I can't wait to join a gym after my breast augmentation though. My hubby and I are going to do it together. I hope he is as helpful as your hubby is during my surgery. I'm glad you are starting to feel better. Thanks again for sharing!
