My Journey to Boobieville

I have been small breasted my whole life. My mom on the otherhand has had huge ones. My grandmas, on both sides, have nice size ones. So what happened to me!? Did I get my boob genes from my dad? I guess. Anyway, this has been a sore spot w/me for as long as I can remember. Even my mom poked jokes at me. I took it w/a grain of salt.
I married for thei first time when I was 22. He was so controlling and there was no way he was going to let me get a breast augmentation. He was very jealous. Needless to say, it didn't last.
I remarried when I was 27 and have never been happier. My DH is very supportive of anything I want to do. We'll have our 9th anniversary this year.
Our finances were in order and I just made an appt. for a consult w/o telling him. All I told him was that I had a consult for a breast augmentation on 12/4 at 1pm and I need him to be there. He reluctantly went with me and when we were done, he was convinced that this is what I should do. I was so glad! When I got home I called the office and set up the sugery date for 3/1/07. Seemed like forever away. During my wait, I tried on rice boobs, VS breast enhancers, and anything else I could get my greedy little hands on. As the day grew closer, I wore my VS enhancers everyday so people wouldn't know I had anything done. I only told my best friend. My Dr. had me washing with Betadine skin cleanser once/day for 3 days b4 surgery. A few days pre op I was so nervous that I couldn't think of anything else. I posted and read and read and posted and when surgery day came, I felt confident about everything. Got to the surgery center at 6:30 a.m., signed papers and waited for them to call my name. They called my name and told my hubby they'd come get him in about 1/2 hour. The nurses were all so sweet. I thought they'd be judgemental. My BP was taken and my temp was taken. After that, got issued the lovely couture hospital gown and thigh high white stockings. Had to wash with the betadine AGAIN! I think my doc is kind of paranoid about infections. Nurse started my IV and anesthesiologist came to talk to me. I asked for some calming meds, but they said it was too late.
I kissed hubby good-bye and began the long walk to my OR. It felt like I was walking down death row. I was getting nervous. Now I was nervous that they wouldn't be big enough. They had warm air blowing on the bed from underneath so it was nice and cozy. I also got a nice warm blankie! My PS's nurse showed up and took my hand. It was nice to see a familiar face in there. She held my arm and patted me as the anesthesiologist put the meds in to knock me out. I remember trying to stay awake, but the next thing I knew, I was in recovery. It felt like they had cracked my sternum open. Nothing else was hurting too bad, just my sternum. Again, the nurse was super nice! I had some good painkillers that kicked in and I had several nurses in stitches. My DH was laughing too. They were making fun of me, but hell, I didn't care. I had boobs! I think that was the first thing I said to DH when I woke up, "I have boobs!" Surgery was at 8:00 a.m. and I was home by 11:30 a.m. I made sure to request anti nausea meds in my IV before I woke up to ward off any nausea feelings and it worked beautifully! I slept the rest of the day and was in and out on Friday. Day 2 I felt pretty good, but stayed down just to be safe. Day 3 I went to church, but was pretty sluggish. Day 4, here I am posting my story and I feel awesome! It has been so easy. I'm really amazed. I can't wait to see my final result. Good luck to anyone waiting to go. I'm so pleased that you are doing great and happy. You have had a long journey to get here but it must be so worth it. Your attitude is awesome and you should be so proud of yourself. Make sure you take it easy and I'm praying that you have a very smooth recovery. I'll be checking in often for updates.

My breast augmentation was 3/1 and basically my recovery has been the same as yours. I'm at work on day 4. Yes, there's pain, but it is bearable. I was on another site and they kind of made me feel like a freak because I was doing so well. Congrats on your recovery and I wish continued happy healing! Sounds like you're doing wonderful!

Here I am at the one week birthday of my girls. It's hard to not do too much but believe me, you'll know when you do. I don't get to see my doc for my first post op until tomorrow so I'm looking forward to that. DH keeps having fits cuz I want to look at "them" all the time. To do that, I have to take my bra straps down. He keeps saying, "He (the doc) told me not to let you take that bra off for anything!" Oh my gosh! What's 30 secs. gonna hurt? Of course, whenever I let him feel them, he was fine with me taking that bra off for as long as I wanted. I will admit that when I took the bra all the way off for a minute, it felt weird. Like gravity was really pulling them down. I'll let you all know how my post op goes tomorrow

Hey Jill, I know what you mean by letting them out for the first time. It still feels weird when I shower, like their gonna bust right out of my skin. As you know, I'm 1 week today, too and I have to tell you I'm feeling great!

I'm attempting the treadmill tonight after work - got the ok from the dr. - just brisk walking.

I had my 1wk post op last Fri. Sorry didn't post sooner. My 2 wk is this Fri. and he said I'll get my stitches out then. I'm hoping that's going to releive some of the sensitivity I have around my nipples. My incision is periareolar. He just showed me the massage and said to keep wearing the bra day and night. Oh, and I got issued "the strap!" It's not as bad as I thought. I have to sleep in it. Sometimes when I first put it on, it actually makes my boobs feel better.

Oh Jill, it sounds like you had a great visit with the PS . Sorry to hear that your nips are sensitive.. fingers crossed that they calm down once the stitches come out.
