My darling husband & I traveled down to the city & to our hotel a day early so we could enjoy ourselves, have a nice dinner together, go for a relaxing walk and then just prepare for the next morning by having a good sleep for which I bought sleeping pills for (just an over the counter Wal-Mart Brand).
Surgery Day: Woke up at 6:15am & showered, shaved & made sure I had everything out that I would need. I packed a bag that my husband would bring with him when he came to pick me up that would have the button-up clothes, easy pull-on pants & slip on shoes, so that the nurses could help me get dressed. Hubby & I then walked down to the surgery center as our hotel was only 3 blocks from it & I knew I wanted to enjoy the last walk that I would be having for quite awhile from what I understood. We checked in at the surgery center at 7:25am (I was told to be there at 7:30am). We just relaxed for the 10 or so minutes it took for the nurses and staff to prepare and I could tell that I was there first case for the morning. They finally called me in and my husband & I entered a consult room where my PS made his marks for the BA and then made a whole bunch of markings for the lipo he was going to perform on my lower/upper abs, inner/outer thighs & hips/love handles. Day 2: Holy morning boob! I woke up in agony. I asked my hubby if he could wake me every 4 hrs for pain meds so that way I don’t wake up in pain anymore. I felt pretty stiff so I cradled my precious cargo and gently maneuvered myself out of bed. I also found that having BA and Lipo on most of my body entitles me to not a single comfortable sleeping position. My back worked the best but when you have had lipo on your outer back hips and thighs that it really hurts! I was allowed to take a shower after 24 hrs he said so I had my husband help me into the tub and just had him sponge bath me as the pressure of the water from the shower hitting my back and front was just unbearable. The rest of the day I found I slept most of it. Day: 3 If I had to do this all over again I would still do the BA and Lipo at the same time since what is the point in going thru this agony twice. I found the Lipo the most painful since I was literally hurting everywhere except my feet and arms. My bruising is starting to show now and I’m surprised by the amount I actually have. I’m really surprised by the amount of bruising I have on my breast. I’m thinking my PS must have really had to try hard to stick those suckers in me. I never did ask him why it was like this but the lack of breast tissue is what I’m guessing. The anesthesia really did a number on me and I feel like it is finally leaving my body. Day 5: I’m finding it very difficult to sleep, as I am so uncomfortable no matter what position I try to sleep in. I even tried sticking my new boobs into big fluffy pillows to see if I could try to lie on my side but that was the worst due to my lipo. My breasts are rock hard and so swollen. I was able to go for a small walk (a ¼ block LOL) but at least it was something. Day 8: I’m able to sleep on my back for about 4 hrs at a time now but it really is taking a toll on my lower back. I’m usually a tummy and side sleeper, never a back sleeper. I’m starting to wonder if I’ll ever get to sleep on my tummy again. Went and saw my PS yesterday and he had me start wearing the strap and also start to massage them. So far, so good. The strap i will have to wear for 4 weeks and the Lipo garment for an additional 6 weekds. He also has me continuing on the Iron pills. I also take Arnica Montana in pill form along with a gel and Bromelain tablets. I do find the massaging a bit difficult since I’m still really sore. I’ll try again tomorrow. Day 11: Today I am doing not too bad. It is probably the best day I have had so far but I just noticed that I am out of my pain meds so I will see about getting my prescription renewed since I find I still need them for the late afternoon and thru the night. I still wear the strap and I am able to do very slight massaging of my breasts as directed by my PS. My husband brought me out to the shopping mall yesterday and it was okay for about 30 minutes. I do find I tire really easily though. My husband has been so wonderful with making sure I don’t do anything at all at home except for sleep, relax, and be on the computer for small sessions. He has been doing the cooking, cleaning, dog walking, etc…... He is the best thing ever and it makes me appreciate him even more. The swelling hasn’t subsided yet and I swear that I am at least DD/E but my PS said that the swelling would go down. I pray he is right, as this is way too big! Mt bruising from my lipo is starting to disappear and is only noticeable to my inner knees right now. I am experiencing some numbness in my lower back and on the lower part of my left breast. I will need to get this checked when I see my PS next week. I have also been able to make a Yahoo Group with all my BA photos so far. It has been causing problems here and there but if you'd like to take a peak just pls let me know that your from JBI. Also let me know if you have problems with the photos being viewed. |

HOORAY FOR SHANIDEE!! You did it girl! Sounds like you have rough recovery to deal with since you had the lipo, too. But you sound like you are tough chick, and I'm sure it'll all be worth it in the end.
Take care...rest rest!! |

Shanidee, thanks so much for sharing your story. I'm scheduled for my BA and total ab lipo on 4/30. Have been really worried about the recovery from the Lipo. While I normally don't bruise too much I have been worried about the pain and soreness afterwards. I'm only taking 1 week off from work but luckily I have the ability to then work from home for a few days more if I really need to.
Your story really made me feel at lot better as it gave me an idea of what to expect. Thanks again and remember to keep getting lots of rest!!!!! Deb |

Remember that the bruises make everything look worse. I'm not saying that I'm not hurting or in no pain because I really am, but it is very tolerable with the pain meds. I remember seeing a story on another website where someone was only taking regular Tylenol...I think that is not reality. Either that person had no nerve endings in her body or she was one tough chickee. You definitly need your Presciption pain meds for the first week and then can usually start downgrading to lower strength medication. Just remember that the final outcome is what your going thru all this for. IIf I had to go thru this all over again I would do it again in a heartbeat. Cheers! Good Luck and keep us up to date. |

Thank you
Thanks Shani for sharing your story!
I am 13 days out from BA and lipo of outer thighs.... still haven't been able to sleep on anything but my back! (YUCK!) I wanted to share with you though - that I found putting a pillow under my knees REALLY helps with the lower back pain (and the lower thigh pain from the lipo!).... Now as soon as I start heading for the bed... the first thing I do is get my knee pillow ready.... I just can't wait to sleep on my side and (dare I say) on my stomach too!!! Good for you!!!! Hope you love your new boobies and figure!
