pins and needles and sensitivity on bottom half of breast

So the bottom part of my breasts have been a little numb since my BA. I expected it because of the crease incision. Some days they have more feeling than others. For the last few hours, one of my breasts has been getting pins and needles and is very sensitive to the touch on that lower part. I assume it is normal, maybe gaining some feeling back, but I also just started wearing underwire bras today (as suggested by my PS) so it makes me a little paranoid. Does this sound normal, or could it be a problem with wearing underwire too early?

I had the crease as well. I am still slightly numb above the incision line up to the nip. The right is more numb then the left tho. I am not sure if it has any affect of wearing underwires, my ps has not cleared me for those yet. I am not sure how long the numbness will last but it will be one of my questions next apt. I am over 2 mths out.

This went away last night after a few hours, I put my sports bra on to sleep and didn't think anything of it. About mid way through the day today, wearing my underwire bra, it started up again. Could the underwire be pushing on some raw nerve or something? The bras are comfortable, there is no pain just constant pins and needles and very sensitive skin on the bottom half of my breast.

Mine are sensitive undeneath but i think its the skin streching to accomidate my new creases. That the only place that I have sensitivilty except for on my incisions them selves.

It sounds normal, but the underwire could be causing it to be more uncomfortable. My PS set me free at 4 weeks to wear an underwire and I still haven't taken the plunge. Sometimes mine feel odd with just the soft bra I wear. I would just take note of how fast you start feeling the discomfort after wearing the underwire and then maybe put it off a bit longer. Good luck to ya

There is a nerve that runs from the nip to the 4th rib and it sounds like that may be whats irritated. I had my implants placed through the transaux incision but I am having problems with that nerve. I have a post in the ask a plastic surgeon forum to the Dr in Texas and his response was that it was normal to experience some pain and numbness with the size of implant I went with. My right nip will get hard on the top half but the bottom half won't. It's kinda funny looking at it- a lopsided nip. I'm still not cleared to wear underwires (that's killing me because all my bras have had underwires since I was 14) but if the underwire fits tighter than the sports bra it may be irritating the nerve.

I'm not a dr, I don't know a half of a one millionth of what your PS knows, but I have had nerve problems before. I broke my collar bone on the right side and it just happens a nerve runs right over it. I had surgery to reset the bone and that irritated the nerve, for about 5 months I would have numbness running down my arm and breast or the pins and needles feeling. I was told that it would probably go away when the nerve inflammation and irritation went away. Luckily it did go away but there is a chance you may have some loss of sensation longer term or even permanently.

Definately ask your PS if you are worried about it or it gets worse. Hopefully it is just some nerve irritation and will go away with time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of us with the tingling and numbness though.

It isn't the numbness I'm worried about, I expect that and I know it should go away with time. It is the pins and needles, sensitivity and now itching in one breast when I wear an underwire bra only. From all the other reading I have done and prettyinpink's post, I'm thinking the bras are just pushing a bit on a healing nerve. I emailed my PS so I'll have to see what he says tomorrow. For now I'll just go back to my sports bras just in case.

Hi Lindz! I have both these issues and talked to my PS. He said it is normal and part of healing. The pins and needles feeling is basically a good sign because it is your nerves regenerating. The numbness on the bottom of your breast is because the nerves were cut there from our crease incisions and will take a little time to heal. I had to wear underwire from day 1 and I actually asked my doc specifically if this caused it and he said no. Still best to check with your own PS though. Good luck!
