Pressure in chest - feels so tight??

I originally posted this on the wrong board so I wanted to repost here!

I had my breast augmentation on 2/9...I know it has only been 1 wk and I am probably still sore, but I was wondering if it is normal to feel such pressure in my chest - like a tightness. I mean it takes my breath away. to be honest, I have a hard time singing LOL....guess it could be the surgical bra too! I just wanted to make sure it wasnt capuslary contracture (or whatever its called). I had 375CC Saline round smooth under the muscle, but they look so high kinda like breast shields lol...hope they change soon.

This is completely normal. I'm 16 days post-op and still sometimes have that tight chested feeling. It gets better everyday.

I remember my chest being so tight it felt like my skin wanted to rip. I hated it by boobs felt like rocks. After time the skin streaches and relaxes allowing the tight feeling to go away. Just wondering if your ps is having you massage, I think that really helped me, but follow exactly what your ps tell you to do they know best

very normal - my PS said to remember that your skin is stretched alot, which will cause some pain/discomfort

I let the PS decide during the surgery what will be best for my body! So happy he put in 550cc silicone under muscle

Just hope they dont give you a compression bad to help them drop I had to do that and it was the most annoying week of life, worse than the week after surgery

Did the compression band help them drop...right now I am almost willing to deal with the annoyance of it because i feel like these babies are in my armpits lol

Honestly im not even sure if it did, they still felt high after a week of that horrible thing. Mine didn't drop for at least a month maybe longer. My ps said it would speed it up but i have heard both ways. They will drop in time. I just remember i felt like my boobs were so high right after surgery that when I was shaving my armpits it felt like i was shaving the side of my boob haha

With my first BA, I felt like I could not breathe. Like someone had put bowling balls on my chest. It gets better....I promise.

I wore a compression band for two weeks after my op and although it was pretty horrible it definitely helped my boobs drop and they are in a really good position now.The tight feeling for me stayed around 6 weeks...it does get better.I didn't massage at all,my nurse said it wouldn't make a difference with unders as you need to wait a while for the muscle to accomodate the implant and stretch so they always take longer to drop.Saying that everyone has different advice so do what you feel comfortable doing and it will get better soon!!!

I've had my compression band on for a week now and it's such a pain. I went to my 2nd follow up this morning and the nurse gave me a really thin strap that fits on top of my implants better then the wide one they put on my after surgery. Hoping this one helps more then the last one.

I am seriously hurting, my chest is sooo tight and the bowling ball feeling is pretty overwhelming. I am on day 3 after surgery and can barely do anything! Anyone have suggestions to help this pain/tightness?

I had this feeling a couple of days ago. I also had some twitching and what felt like muscle spams. My PS prescribed some xanax (just 4 pills) to help me sleep. I've only needed 2 pills and the feeling is gone! I took a break from my bra for a few hours and tried some massaging, too.

Did your doctor give you any Valium? It helps relax those muscles a lot, I'm so glad I had it. I think it helped me more then the Percocet. I was able to take it every 6 hours for the first several days.

I did not have to wear a compression band, but even I had that pressure. I often told a co-worker who had augmentation 3 years ago that I felt like I had a constant battle going on between my chest muscles and my ribs. They were fighting over the implant in between. That lasted for a while. I think at least 3 weeks, but all is well now!
Best wishes!

I also had my surgery 2/9! Officially 11 days post-op. I had a full anchor lift with small implants under the muscle (275cc salines). I had a fair amount of size to begin with, just wanted a restoration of what I had when I was younger (I'm 46).

I do know what you mean about the tightness. It does loosen up. My doctor told me to take frequent deep breaths. That helped me get used to the feeling. I didn't have any external stitches; two layers of internal and glue externally plus steri-strips. I had my one-day post-op appt; 5 day post op appt and another this friday (2.5 weeks post op).

I went out for girls night on Friday and my new girls were the star! I was a bad girl and wore a regular bra, but figured since it was just a few hours, it wouldn't be a problem. I wore a low-cut tank and they got us really good service that evening!

I hope the tightening loosens up for you. I haven't started massaging yet, but the deep breaths I think have helped.

Tightness in chest/Breathing issues

Hi i'm new, and going for my consult tomorrow. Very nervous, not so much pain, but did anyone have trouble breathing after? I also have asthma which I don't think will cause a problem, but also have anxiety. Any help I'd appreciate it!!

yeah, He did give me Valium but I was still twitching and having major spasms and as a result I felt like I was having panic attacks. Just a very heavy feeling on my chest and felt like I was having trouble taking deep breaths. The xanax worked much better, but I was out as soon as I took one. lol.
