![]() | Safe to shower/wash hair?
Hello! My ps says I can shower on day 3 (today! Yay!) But I'm scared. My incisions aren't covered-- they're sutured, but not covered. I know to dry them off after I shower but if I wash my hair... won't soap get in there? What to do??? Also, those of you with transax incisions, please help me! I am freaking out! How much can I lift my arm to "wipe off" under there? Can I at all? I've never had a surgery before so I don't know about incision care, and I just feel like I should have something covering my incisions (sutures won't be out 'til next Friday). Help |

I think if your PS said it is ok to shower it should be fine if soap slips down there. I don't think I would wash there though. I didn't have transax, so I can't help you with the arm lifiting. With crease I could lift my arms ok. Enjoy your shower!! |

I took a shower from the neck down first, and then hubby would was my hair separately. Do you have anyone who could wash you hair? If you do it that way nothing will get in there. But I think if your ps gave you the okay to shower it must be that it's okay, just make sure you rinse your incisions well from any soap residue. |

I was allowed to shower 4 days post-op. I washed my hair first and then washed with an antibacterial soap all over. I didn't have any problems.

I was able to shower on day three too. I have the areola incision and mine were covered with tape but when I asked my PS about my shower he told me not to worry about water or soap getting on the incision (but to not wash the area). He also told me to do what I could in the shower and not to over do it. Best advise is if you are uncertain, give your PS a call. Never hurts to hear it from him/her and set your mind at ease. |
