![]() | Pain Meds Question
My PS gave me percocet, valium, nausea meds and an anti-biotic. So far I didnt need the anti- nausea meds and I have way more than enough of the percocets, I am sure I will have left over like I have had for other procedures(child birth, wisdom teeth removed etc), but he only gave me enough valium for about 5 days(3 times a day as needed). Well those valium seem to help the most, especially in the am. I know how dr's are with these kinds of meds, if I needed more what would they give me instead. Are there other meds that work as well over counter for muscle spasms or anxiety? What meds did you all get?

[COLOR="YellowGreen"]Most PS will prescribe a narcotic pain med (Percocet) a muscle relaxer (Valium) and an antiemetic for nausea (Phenergan). These are all pretty standard meds for breast augmentation. As for the antibiotics, it is the PS preference. Some PS will prescibe an antibiotic to take pre-op and/or post-op as a prophylactic or preventative measure to reduce infection risk. However, this can have drawbacks as well (yeast infection, resistance, GI upset, ect.) so some do not mess with antibiotics unless an infection is actually present. As for the Valium...it is a very effective muscle relaxer and some have a better response or more relief with that than the narcotic pain meds especially those with implants placed under the muscles. Depending on how many days post-op you are and the amount/severity of spasms you are still having will play a role in what the PS decides is best for your situation. I would let your PS know exactly what kind of pain, the severity of it, and what meds have worked best for you and go from there. Unfortunately there really are not any over the counter muscle relaxers. You could try massage if your PS recommends it. There is also a type of homeopathic cream that some of the girls on this forum have used and had relief but I cannot remember the name of it off hand but I think you can get it at GNC. I would discuss it with your PS though, that is what they are there for after all and it's always good to keep them informed of what you are experiencing so they can provide you with the care you need and deserve. Hope this helps a little girl, take care, hope you feel better! ![]() Rae |

Call your ps's office and tell them you need a refill for your valiums. Tell them that nothing else is working as good in keeping you comfortable. Hopefully they will give you a few more. I also took valium and it helps a lot more than the other meds. Demerol also works great, I took a combo and felt great all day. |

Thanks, I might try that. I guess the worse they can say is no... The percocets seem to wipe me out a bit more too, although that might just be my body telling me to take it easy and take a nap |

I was prescribed percocet, tylenol 3s, and antibiotics. The percs made me nauseous; the T3s were much better for my system.

Who knows, maybe they can give you something just as good. Do rest whenever you can, it's good for your body and will speed up your healing time. | |
