![]() | I went to the drugstore yesterday and asked the pharmacist what she recommended for new surgery scars and she said mederma. I also asked her about vitamin E oil and she said it kept scars from healing from underneath the skin. So you don't want to use it right away on new scars.

I'm using Juveness that I ordered from **********.com. It's a silicone based cream. I've only been using it for a week but I swear I can already see a difference. I've even been using it on some old stretch marks and it seems to be working on them too. It is really expensive but so far so good. I also had a tummy tuck and can really see a difference on that scar. I bought silicone scar sheet also. I plan to alternate the cream with the sheets starting next week. Will let you know how it goes. :

![]() | http://cococare.com/product.php?prod...3&cat=0&page=1 This stuff is AMAZING!!! It is a 100% cocobutter stick and you just rub it on. Even my dr and nurse were complimenting how great my breasts look when i went in for my consult. They look very natural. No scars no stretch marks. The dr also recommended to me vitamin e (just a little each time). i actually bought at walmart the vit e geltabs and would poke one with a needle and apply that as he directed. I def followed what he recommended the whole time i was healing. but the big things were the vit e and the defintely the cocobutter! :-)

MY PS has his patients use a product called Scarguard for scars. Really does help. As for the stretch marks - I used emu oil on myself while I was pregnant and didn't end up with a single stretch mark anywhere whereas my mom and sister are covered. Might want to try that. I got mine from LB Processors.

My sister has started using Vitamin E oil on her c-section scar and has said that in the 3 days she's been using it (twice a day) the redness and swelling has reduced considerably. I'm definitely going to try Vit E oil on my breast augmentation scars in a few weeks. In saying that though, I didn't use anything on my first set of scras and over time they healed up nicely...but it took a while (2.5 years!) before the redness faided. |

My PS recommended simply putting Micropore pressure tape on the scars - I am 4 weeks out and I am surprised how much the scars have already flattened out and softened.

I like the suggestion though about the mederma...perhaps i will consider it depending on when I get my stitches out how bad the scar looks like it will be.

I am just using silicone sheets that the PS gave me. I just cut them into strips that I can re-use for about 3 weeks before they get mushy. Then just cut some new ones off and away I go again. So far so good although Iam only early days...

Okay, ladies, I'm going to thread-jack, sort-of! ![]() I took notes and read over everyone's posts so far, and tabbed up what everyone's using, ONLY noting it if that person said it was working or had worked, or if a PS recommended it. No jokes about how I have no life and/or am retentive about researching, please. Here goes (#'s are recommendations by the girls on here): Winning out were:
Out of these three, Mederma was PS recommended most, followed by Vit E. Bio-Oil was recommended once or twice by PS, but was noted multiple times by girls about fading the color of the scar. Other top contenders (hehe):
The Scarguard had the most PS recommendations of ANYthing, even Mederma. Dr Blains is a kit which uses Sil Sheets and a Vit E oil + Sil gel mix. It was noted that some people are allergic to Neosporin. EVERYTHING ELSE, includes:
Some docs recommended AGAINST vit E, especially early on. Hope this helps, I might post it in a separate post. It's easy to see why it's so confusing as to how to treat scars, huh?! |

![]() | Bio Oil
Does anyone know where to get this? And what is Bio Oil used for, your incisions/scars? I purchased Polysporin already, and cocoa butter. I am assuming Polysporin will be for my scars (this is what my PS recommended)... but are you ladies putting COCOA BUTTER on the scars? I am just confused.. with all this advice I am buying everything and not sure which is best, if I should use them all.. or what?!?! |

So I am 3 months out and just took the plunge and bought Biodermis silicone sheets. My PS told me I wouldn't need anything, and post-3 month appointment, said using something wouldn't be a bad idea (obviously I would have started sooner!) With me, I am not so much worried about size or "raised" characteristics - mine are just redddd. Does anyone have any experiance with these pricey wonders helping them with scar coloring? |

My doctor did clear me for putting stuff on my incisions, and I've been using cocoa butter, right on the incision, and bio oil. Bio oil can be used anywhere on the body, though- it says it's for scar tissue, stretch marks, skin discolorations, etc. My PS didn't recommend anything over anything else, so I'm trying my hand at various things. If your PS says to use Polysporin, ask him what exactly makes it work. | |
