I used ScarGuard on mine....worked GREAT. Smells funky (kind of like fingernail polish) until it dries. http://www.scarguard.com/ |

I was told to leave them well alone to heal naturally, just keep clean and dry..then at 8 weeks he told me to use bio oil to massage them and break down the scar tissue, 10 months on they are silver and flat

I used Rejuveness scar sheets after one of my surgeries. A friend (Lorna - from here on the forum) sent it to me. I think they worked great. I haven't used anything on my scars this time. I'm 3 weeks po. I want to try the ScarGuard b/c you can just paint it on. Seems more convenient than wearing the sheeting. However, I will still use the sheeting if the ScarGuard doesn't work well.

I saw yesterday that Walgreens will have Bio-Oil as of July 6th (for any one interested). The sales price was $11.99.

I looked for the bio oil at Walgreens and couldn't find it. I went ahead and bought the Curad scar sheets, it has the same medication as Mederma (or at least that is what the pharmacist told me). I can cut them to size and stick them on. I hope it works!!

The only thing I've used on mine thus far, is Neosporin triple antibiotic ointment. I smoke and I didn't want the doc to know by looking at my scars. (Otherwise they wouldn't have healed well.) They look GREAT and he said so. I use it three/ four times a day. Plus I put on Eucerin lotion (my son has exzema) on my boobies at LEAST once a day. Now that the scars have closed, I use it on them as well. I think I will try some of the scar reducers though.

I went to Walgreens on Friday and they had the Bio-oil, it was in the section with the lotions, etc near the cosmetics (I had to ask because it wasn't with the other scar treatments). It was on sale for $10 a bottle for anyone interested. |

Cica Care gel sheets is what my PS recommended I use after I have my breast augmentation. I suffer keloid scarring so it is suppose to help. They are quite pricy but you only need one, cut it in half, wash and reuse for up to a month or so. Also dermatrix is a topical gel cream if you are not to keen on the sheets. Hope this helps! |
