Water retention after BA?

Hey ladies!! Has anyone else had severe water retention after surgery? I'm day 3 PO today, and since Yesterday morning, I have swelled up HUGE everywhere.. I know many people say they gain weight, but I'm talking a lot of weight(15lbs in one evening ) My ankles, feet, legs, thighs, hands, toes, are all swollen, and my stomach is huge and hard! I'm sooo puffy and it sucks... I also can't control my bladder muscles.. It's weird, like i can't feel if i have to pee, i just sit and it falls out, but i can't feel it at all, if it's full or empty.. i had bad reactions to my pain meds, so my PS had to put me on different ones, and then meds to correct my reaction.. I'm a huge fat cow right now!

Yes I has massive water retention also!! My stomach was huge!!! and my ankles well legs in general really... it was horrible. But it goes away over a few days. My stomach also swelled because my meds caused constipation, and I didn't realise thats what was wrong. I think I lost 10cm off my stomach after a laxative haha.
water retention is normal, even when it effects some more severely than others. I got a foot and leg massage and that really helped.

Hope u feel better soon and good luck with the rest of your recovery.

I'm having the same issue and were only a day apart in surgery times. I talked to one of my nurses tonight because I gained 10 pounds in 7 hours. She said it was normal. I'm also am having a similar issue when I pee. I feel like i need to go and nothing comes out or I really have to try and still don't produce much. My nurse said that was a normal side effect of the anesthesia and she hears that complaint a lot. She said in surgery you take in loads of fluids through your IV plus I've been drinking water like crazy because of the dry mouth. I was told over the next 3-6 days you will start going and won't be able to stop. I really hope that's the case!

I have this tea made by Yogi called Get Regular that I'm making now to see if that helps with the de-bloating. I use it occasionally and it works wonders for me. I'm trying to stop any backing up from the pain meds in it's tracks since the water retention is so bad already. I'll let you know how it goes. Here's hoping we both de-bloat soon. I want to enjoy the girls without feelig like a Goodyear blimp!

OMG thank God I seen this. I'm 1 week post op and look fat and prego! I'm normally thin. 5'5 122 but this morning I was 126 with a muffin top! I'm going to pop two laxatives and go sit in the shower and sweat. I hope to wake up skinny! Hehe
