Red face How long does the surgery take?

I am scheduled for next Monday, August 1 at 7:30 am!! I am supposed to arrive at 6:30 am and I think my doc said it will take about an hour for the actual surgery. Then I am assuming I will be there for a little bit after surgery?? How long were you there start to finish and when do they let you go home? Is there a waiting period after you wake up or something?

Thanks!

I had my consult today and the nurse told me we would be in the building for about 3 hours. HTH! Good Luck!

That's pretty amazing that you're out in one day now - which is what I was told with the replacement I'm expecting to have in September. When I had my implants down 8 years ago, it was an overnight stay and the drains were left just before you went home. But the surgeon I'm seeing now performs day surgeries on the Monday and you go back on Friday to have the drains taken out! Crazy...

I got there at 8. My surgery was scheduled for 9 (not sure it started on time - I had some happy meds by then). They woke me up around 10:45 I think. It took my hubby some time to come get me so I left around 11:30 and was fighting to stay awake. I was told surgery would take about 1-1.5 hrs too. Good luck!

I arrived at the surgery center at noon and had an iv of antibiotics for 2 hours. My surgery started at 2 and was over at 4:30. Mine took a little longer than expected. My ps said usually the surgery is 2 hours, but I had some bleeding issues that he had to keep under control. All in all I only lost 1 tablespoon of blood, but it took him some extra time to make sure I didn't bleed more.

My BA was scheduled for 8 a.m. Got there at 7:00 for the prep. PS was in another procedure that ran a little late, so my BA started closer to 9:00. My mom said I was done at 11:30 (my PS is known for being methodical and taking his time). I woke around 1:45 p.m. and left around 2:30.... maybe 3.

Not sure exactly how long my actual surgery took but I know it was right about an hr. My surgery was @ 730a also. I don't know exactly the time we got back to our room but my BF said it was a lot faster than he thought it would be. I don't remember the ride home @ all but he said I kept asking him over & over again what time it was I'm sure he told me every time but I have no idea what he said.

Thanks ladies!! I forgot to ask how long I would be there after the surgery. My sister in law who is a nurse will be bringing me and staying with me the whole day at my house which I am so thankful for! Hopefully I will be out of there by ten
