Yes. We all heal differently. You just had a very invasive procedure. Also don't forget each breast is its own surgical site so will heal separately and differently.

I was sore for quite a few weeks. All is good now. Hth.

Actually, I remember week 3 being my most annoying week of all so far! I think my swelling had subsided and I was going through lots of nerve regeneration.

it's more like a muscle ache...it hurts all the way through to my back.

on my left side

i had aA LOT of bruising around day 3-4 on my left side....like it turned DARK purple around my whole side of my boob from my armpit down to the bottom.... so alot of the blood moved up into the upper pole (?) .... the top of the left one is very swollen still...he said it's blood under the skin and some swelling.... he told me it would take like 6 weeks to reabsorb (although it doesn't look like blood, just swelling...anyways...he said about 3 months for the boobies to even out.....so i've had trouble with this side, but it's just sorer than usual these past couple of days. and yes...nipples HYPERsensitive too. haha.

I haven't had my BA yet, but when my dad had open heart surgery his nurse said that post-op pain tends to work in a 7 day cycle with day 21 being the worst. She said that while he may feel great week 2, week 3 may be the worst! I don't know if this applys to all surgery but it might!

I am only 6 days post op and thought I felt great so I decided to go back to work and Quickly realized today I feel great cause I'm able to lay in bed reclined with ice on my boobies all day. but my left is so much more tender and sore than my right. it hurts to do anything with the left side I also noticed a nice sized bruise on the left side at the bottom of my breast almost even with my crease, I see my doctor on Tuesday and hope he says it is normal.

A number of ladies on here have expressed that, after thinking they were feeling great, they then felt more pain and tenderness the third week. So there is just something about week 3 that makes some girls feel weird! Don't worry, it's normal Hope you feel better soon!

3 weeks post op with indent next to areola

Hi,

Im new to this site and hope I can get a bit of reassurance! I too had my op approx 3 weeks ago. I had the implants placed under to muscle (areola incision) and I can finally wake up in the morning without that huge pressure. The problem is my right breast is still swollen and there is an indent next to my areola and it seems as if I can feel the scar tissue (hard swollen long lump) under the areala. It doesnt look that bad when Im lying down although its pretty obvious when sitting/standing. Im still a little bruised on my right side and its a little bigger still but am more concerned about the indent. I say my ps last week before it was obvious and he was happy with everything and told me not to wear a bra - I dont have to go back for another 3 months. Any advice on the indent next to the areola - is it just scar tissue? Thanks heaps!!

i cannot even express how happy i am to be reading this thread .. i have been fine in all of my recovery! i'm 3.5 weeks post op now. went back to work 2 weeks post op ..

but today .. my right boob has gone boom! and swollen up!! .. i've been freakin out! .. called my surgeon .. got told to ice and compression bra ..

i have to call again if it gets bigger but i think i've just over pushed it .. working too hard causing a bit of fluid ...

but glad to see im not the only one with week 3 scaries!

thank god for you girls! Im 2 weeks out and am still pretty sore, just trying to do my best to work thru it and not notice it because once I do then i start to obsess and i feel like the soreness becomes worse! Before i got my surgery, I was thinking by around 2 weeks I was going to be really good to go! But i'm not and i felt like I was totally alone... until I read this! Thanks girls for making me feel normal again.

I think because its such a comon procedure, the misconception is that its no big deal. I know I thought that. But the fact is you were cut open in TWO places, if you had submuscular, had your muscles messed with and manhandled (have you seen on video what they do in there when creating a pocket, I was clenching my butt cheeks watching - they are NOT gentle to say the least) and then had two artifical things shoved up inside you and then you are sewn up. Invasive seems like such a mild term...LOL...

How long does a papercut hurt or take to heal? Think about how insignificant that is in comparison, and then hopefully you feel better about how long you are taking to heal now. Just let your body do its thing. Its natural.
