What happens if your dissolvable stitches don't dissolve?

On my lefty in the incision I can feel two sharp spots, like a needle head or something, I am assuming it is the stiches? I am almost 5 weeks out. I can't feel it on my righty. It doesn't bother me at all and I can only feel it if I run my finger over the incision, but I just didn't know if this was normal or not. Im SO tempted to grap it with my fingernails and pull it out! Haha, can I?

Depends on what you surgeon/nurse has to say about it. I had one in my areola and one in my crease that slightly poked through. My surgeon said to leave it alone and a week later it was gone.

Awesome thanks! I don't have my next PO appt until the end of Jan so I will just wait and see what happens. I have scar tape that I have to leave on for 6 straight days and then it comes off for 24 hours and goes back on for 6 more days. My last PO appt the tape was on and I didn't even think about it. I tend to only think about it on Wednesdays when the tape is off and I can feel my incisions Ill give it about another week or so and if it is not gone Ill give them a call!

This sounds like a good plan! Sometimes they say pull it and put neosporin on it. Mine were just the very edge of a stitch, so it just went away one day.

sawdust is an unknown quantity at this point
Do you have stitches that dissolve by themselves?

I do and and I have "whiskers" poking out of each side of each boob. They aren't sharp though- they just look and feel like whiskers.

I've got them coming through incisions on my breasts from my lift and also through my tummy tuck incisions. Sometimes I pull them out, sometimes I wait to see my surgeon. If they are already protruding the skin, I clean the area with rubbing alcohol and then pull gently with sterile tweezers until there is firm resistance, then clip them as close to the skin as possible with sterile cuticle cutters, treat the area with antibiotic ointment and cover. I pulled two inch long suckers from my hip yesterday, totally gross. The silk threads probably won't hurt to pull on gently but do not mess with the any protruding deep sutures. These look like fishing line and could be holding something important together. I've got super delicate skin and my body is determined to get rid of the sutures as soon as possible, so annoying! There are tons of tiny bumps below my tummy tuck incision where little bits of vicryl silk are being pushed through my skin. My surgeon did such a beautiful job suturing with no surface perforations and then my body has to go and ruin it all, rah! Also, don't mess with any that are below the skin's surface.
