Another question about dropping..

I read somewhere on here that dropping is not your actual implant dropping; that it's your muscle letting go of the implant, allowing substance (saline or silicone) to flow from the top of the implant to the bottom.

Is this true??

If that's true, does that mean I am always going to have deflated implant near my collar bone??

THX in advance!!

Ummmm, I don't think so! I haven't heard that before. For one thing, the implant is filled - there is no deflated area. When the muscles relax, then the implant can drop into the pocket made by your PS. At least that's the way I've understood it to happen. If I am wrong, so be it. I'd be interested to hear. Good question, Whitney!

Hmm... this is an interesting question. I wonder if it's a little bit of both. The implant itself dropping down into the pocket and the fluid inside the implant forming more of a teardrop shape because of gravity. This is just a guess though. Maybe you could post this on the ask a PS forum?

Before I read any replies, I would've said exactly what Annie said, it's the implant falling into the pocket that was created....I can only speak for silicone, I would think the same for saline but the filling won't move, it stays put, it's your skin and muscles that relax, not the implant...i think ! x

There is not a set time for the implants to drop. It is different for each person. Some notice it overnight. For others, it is a gradual process. Each boob is a separate surgery, so rarely do they both drop at the same time. I'd say mine started to drop at around 2 wks......... but it took at least 4 months till I felt they were done. And they did not drop at the same rate. My lefite was way slower than rightie. You really won't know what to expect until it happens. Wish I could help more, but that's the way it is.

Hi! I'm 7 weeks since my breast augmentation....my leftie has dropped some, but it's still very high....my right one dropped rather quickly....so I feel really crooked and uneven....is this normal? I know we all ask the same question, but I'm just getting very nervous to see my leftie still up here after 7 weeks!....

I have my 2 month post-op follow up visit tomorrow....it was scheduled for next week, but I asked to see her earlier...I'm very concerned about the way my boobies look....am I overreacting?!

From what I hear, that's completely normal!!

Read Slinky's post right before yours and you will see how she says that it's really 2 separate surgeries (1 per boob) I think you're alright.

I guess we all want immediate results.....I'm not good at being patient...LOL....so this is really getting to me....specially when that it has to do with my own body....I wouldn't mind the pain, the zingers, the whole recovery process, if I could magically look perfect right after surgery.....lol

My question is, with those of us with the dreaded strap does the D&F not happen as drastic as those without? I do not have the 'square' look that many have.

Great tread by the way for those of us still new to the boobie thing!

Wouldn't that be nice. but we know, in the end...we will be happy and the uneveness will be worth it. It's temporary I am sure.

hmm...this is interesting. I know the pocket just loosens and the implant is free to settle in the place it's supposed to be. SO...what happens when the implant is pretty much perfectly placed after 4-5 days? Is there a greater chance of bottoming out since the implant has so much more to shift?

The dropping part makes sense - the muscle loosening up. But I still can't figure out what the "fluffing" means that I keep reading. Can someone explain that?
