![]() | Mederma for scars
Hey I have a stupid question..I was told not to put anything on my scars ( in the crease incision) and not to long ago I was talking to PS of how I dont like the scar and I wanted it to go(lol like snap your fingers and its gone) he said it would be great if I could start using mederma on them frequently throughout the day and they will be faded away in no time. The directions also say apply frequently throughout the day and I'm just wondering..because my scars are directly in my crease where my bra sits how am I supposed to keep applying mederma all day..wont it just rub off on my bras? I've been doing it in the morning and before bed and just letting it air dry before putting a bra on but during the day when the incisions are getting dry I want to put it on but I dont want it to get all over my bra..how is it done? My PS said to wear sports bra to sleep in at night and wear an underwire all day. |

I think mederma is overrated. I used it (in a less awkward place than the crease) for over a month with no change. (this had nothing to do with the breast augmentation) I think those silicone scar sheeting things are far better for things like this. Check out the thread (What did you use on your scars?) on 'what you used on your scars' good tips in there. |

Thank you but I'm told by my PS to just use mederma nothing else and i want to obey. He says that since I'm highly allergic to all tapes and bandaids. And even if I had to use any kind of adhesive tape it would have to be paper tape. So thats why I cant use any of the silicone scar sheeting things I'm allergic to their adhesive tape. |

^ oh, ok. dang, not sure what to suggest in this case then. I don't think it can hurt trying mederma. maybe make sure it's good and dried before putting your bra back on.

Yea,so far I just do it morning and night like you said making sure its well dried. I'm seriously thinking of maybe during the day put mederma on and placing a small piece of gause over it with a little paper tape to hold it on. I just want the scars to go before the summer..otherwise once I put on a string bikini top and it rides up people will see..not like you cant notice I dont have fake boobs anyways,I'm a stick figure with dubble D's lol |

I don't think there is any tape on the Curad Scar Strips. they are just clear silicone strips and they stick without any tape. Would you be allergic to those, do you think? Maybe you could ask your PS. I agree that you should follow his directions. Hope you find something that works. Slinky |

I'm another vote for the Curad things...this is what Curad Scar Therapy did for me: IMO, Mederma is not any better than rubbing lotion on your scars, it did nothing for me...
