Incisions & Vitamin E?

hey! did anyone put vitamin E on their incisions? i want to start putting it on but im not completely sure what to do & buy. if i remember right, do you buy pure vit E pills then get the liquid out & put it on your incisions? my ps's office is now closed & im clueless. i dont know why this sounds familiar to me but i cant find an old thread on this. if you did this, did you put it on your incisions even if you could still see a little trace of a suture??? also, when i was taking a shower i noticed that my incisions feel a little puffy around them. they dont look puffy & are not red or anything but i really noticed it today. is that okay? (this is wk 3 for me)

I'm sure you know this but I'm going to say it anyway, make sure your incisions are 100% closed before applying anything to them. If you can still see a suture and you think your incisions look/feel puffy I would not advise that you put anything on them. The risk of introducing bacteria to your incision site is too great if they aren't closed.

I didn't use anything on my scars. Some ladies have used vitamin E. You'll want the natural form, read the labels, here's how to tell the difference...

Natural vitamin E contains alpha-tocopherol exclusively in an active form.
Synthetic vitamin E (sometimes referred to as dl-alpha-tocopherol) contains both active and inactive forms of alpha-tocopherol.

I started putting vitamin E on my scars at day 6 per the instructions of my PS. My incisions were not completely healed, but had scabs on them and he said it was okay. I just went to Walgreens and bought a bottle of skin oil that is made up of Vitamin E as it was only like $3. The stuff they sell that is specifically for scars was near $20 and the bottles of vitamin E capsules were about $6-7. This oil works well as my scars are healing very nicely and at 2 1/2 weeks are only thin lines, as well as I use the oil to rub on my breasts when I massage them to keep them pliable and soft.

Atomic will become famous soon enough
I've been using vitamin E on my scars for a couple of weeks now and I've noticed a definite improvement... I bought medical grade vitamin E capsules, and I take one orally every night, and pierce a second, squeeze out the liquid and massage it into my scars. Seems to be doing the trick for me

Smile

I heard to put the vit E on your boobs before surgery to help with stretch marks. Is that true? I'm not sure about your scars sweetie. Some put some type of medical take for the scars but not sure what the name is.

hmm..i wasn't told anything about vitamin E... my PS told me to buy some polysporin silicon gel sheets.. they're kind of sticky on one side, and you stick it on the scar and it helps the healing...

Hello, I am new here, but not new to the breast augmentation arena
I wanted to comment and ask about scars...I am about 9 mos. post-op. My scars look ok, but could be better. AFTER, my incisions were completely healed (3-4 weeeks post-op), my PS recommended Micropore surgical tape (although, I bought mine at his office, it is also sold at Walgreens as "Gentle Paper" tape), along with some $50. cream his office sells. The concept of the tape is to apply constant, gentle pressure to the incision (to keep it flat) and moist for better healing. The PS's protocol involved putting the tape over the incision and rubbing a small amount of the $ cream over the tape, 1-2X/daily. The tape was not to be removed, but would loosen up and start coming off after about 2 weeks, at which time you replace the tape.
After using it for about 3 weeks, one of my toddlers disappeared with the cream--they love those tiny bottles (of course they couldn't have stolen the $3 tape). Since, I am not going to replace this expensive cream, I have been using the tape and either emu oil or Vit E. It seems to be going well, but I'm not sure that the oils I am using are the equivalent of what he sold me.
Has anyone else used the tape method? Any suggestions as to what options besides Vit E/Emu oil are available? I never tried the silicone pads--how are they? Please don't follow the above info without talking to your PS first. Thanks for all of the great info!

MAKE SURE YOU ASK YOUR PS ABOUT VITAMIN E~with that said, i got the ok from my PS to put stuff on my inscisions on day 4...sonce then my daily routine is....break open 1 vitamin E capsule for each inscison and massage in the gel, then i cover that and my entire boobs with cocoa butter(it keeps my skin soft and hopefully i have prevented stretch marks! i do that twice a day...also, i was using cocoa butter on my boobs twice a day for 2-3 weeks before surgery to help keep my skin healthy and soft...hope that helps!!!
