Compression bra - how long?

How long did you wear your compression bra after your BA? Was it around the clock? When did you switch to regular bras without underwire? Just curious! I'm one day post op and already wanting a different bra...so silly since I know I'm going to be in this sucker for a while and certainly don't want to do anything to mess up my results! Thanks ladies!

I just have a granny style underwire bra my PS has everyone buy before surgery. No compression bra. I was wrapped with a big ace bandage 2 days though. At my first post op he said I can get different bras. I finally got a couple today just to interchange with the granny bra. I will still wear the granny bra to sleep in though. I know I have a long way to go so I got full support bras from JCPenneys. They had buy one get one free! I am not springing for the sexy stuff from VS until I D and F!

Hmm, I never got a compression bra. All I have are a few sports bras that do up in the front or can be pulled on from the bottom.

My Doctor checked the bra to make sure it would hold my boobs in on the side so they don't get any *ideas* about sliding down to the side. He also suggested I pull the front of my bra down (so the back of my bra goes up) to sort of help pull my boobs down into place (the muscle has them pulled up really high). Not sure if that makes sense. This will also keep the bra from sitting on my incision.

He said I can start wearing a regular bra in three weeks.

That is just what I was told, but everyone is different

I'm supposed to be in one for 23 hours a day for 3 weeks. Im sure if you found another surgical bra or compression sports bra your ps would be ok with it. Mine has Velcro on the straps & it's super annoying so I plan on asking to use my compression under armour sports bra at my next appointment. There are also a lot of comfy looking surgical bras out there maybe you can come to a compromise. I will say whatever material mine is made of is awesome because it won't even hold blood stains!

I am 9 days post op. I brought my compression bra to surgery and when I woke up I was in it and dressed. I was told to wear it day and night for one month. Of course i take it off to shower (which I was able to do day 4) and sometimes I undo the front clasps and let them "breathe" for like 15 ish minutes...it can get tight and annoying sometimes BUT the first 3 weeks are so critical in healing, so keep it on girl! Good luck!

Hi! We have the exact same stats as far as height and weight I just got mine done yesterday! I know that I'm supposed to wear my compression bra at least until my first post op appointment on Tuesday May 14. Definitely just call your PS and ask! Don't remove it before its really time to come off. Hope you have a speedy recovery!!

My PS had me in a surgical bra immediately after my procedure and said that I would have to wear it day/night. By my 1 week PO apt, sheet old me that I can switch to a sports bra. What a difference! The girls are able to breathe!
