extreme pressure on chest?

hey girls! im so nervous about the recovery time after the breast augmentation but regardless im getting it. i cant wait! however, ive noticed a few girls say that for the first week there is extreme pressure on their chest. is it hard to breathe? i have asthma and i hate that feeling of not being able to take a deep breath and fill your lungs. my asthma is not bad at all especially now ive outgrown most of it, but this scares me! does this only occur in women who go really large or is it typical for all sizes?
thanks!
ashley

I have 600ccs in each and I can't say that there was a great deal of pressure - mostly, just the weight of supporting the implants. You'll find it to be bearable, tho

I had a slight amount of pressure. I also had a small amount of difficulty in taking deep breaths, but coped with it. You'll be fine

For me it was just the day of surgery that felt like that. I woke up with extreme pressure at the surgery center and it lasted all of that day. The next day was better.

Don't be scared, Ashley. I have mild asthma too. For a few days, around days 5-8 post op, I noticed every now and then that I would have to take a deep breath, so obviously I was making up for shallow breathing, but I did NOT have that yucky "can't catch my breath" feeling.

I don't think this is due to the weight of the implants. If so it would not be so quick to go away. I think it's due to post-op swelling -- and if you get unders, also due to the chest muscles being stretched a bit tight at first -- that constricts the lungs slightly until the swelling goes down and the muscles relax a bit.

It's natural to worry about this and that before surgery! Keep asking about your worries, I know that helped me!

I have asthma too.
The nurse warned me that when I woke up would feel pressure on my chest but she said try to breathe normaly.
So when I woke up I knew what to expect, I knew my vision was going to be blury thanks to the vaseline they put on your eyes, so I wasn't scared I couldn't see, she just had to wipe it off.
I tried to breathe normaly, it was hard because it felt like something was sitting on my chest and of course I was very swollen.
The next day was better, you kind of get use to it and your breathing adjusts.
Your going to be sleeping most of the time anyway because of all of the pain meds....Thank God! Just keep taking them, you are going to have pain anyway but if you sleep you won't feel it as much.
I never had an asthma attack after my breast augmentation either.
Good luck!!

I didnt have much pressure. There were times where if I talked alot, I had to stop and take a breath every now and then, but that was really only when I was wearing that stupid strap because it was tight across my chest. Otherwise, when I released that, I felt fine. Your pain meds will help as well with any tightness or pressure that you may or may not feel. In any case, I would tell your doctor that you have asthma just to be on the safe side in case he has any further instructions for you.

the most extreme pressure i had was right after surgery & the whole day. i did have pressure & tightness but mostly they felt very heavy and that feeling lasted a couple of wks for me & i didnt go very large. i never had any trouble breathing though. i think the feeling of pressure/heaviness is a bit worse when laying down but i just could not sleep reclined. i remember thinking to myself "get these things outta me!!!" at one point i got kinda claustrophobic. i think i have issues, LOL! i would TOTALLY do it again though.

I never felt as though I couldn't breath. More like someone had put a bunch of rope around my chest and pulled it tight. I could still breath in and out - but the tight feeling was always there. I have to say that first day was really bad and every 3 hours I was watching the clock for an hour to take my pain meds on the fourth hour. By the second day I wasn't watching the clock and I even managed a walk around the mall that evening. I felt a certain tightness four a week and a half. I am just over two weeks and I only now feel pain free and tightness free. I still have the feeling of bruising under the breasts and down my ribcage - but the black and blue...and yellow and green marks are gone now.

I had no idea they put vaseline on your eyes! Haha. Is this so they dont dry out during surgery or something?

They just taped mine shut. And removed several layers of skin in the process. In fact when I woke up my eye lids were the first thing that I noticed hurting!!!

My worst day for the pressure was also the day of surgery. It got better after that. There is still some minor pressure if I try to take a really deep breath but it's tolerable. It does hurt to laugh a lot though!!!!

Oh I don't mean to scare you but I have asthma too and my anestheliogist made me take my inhaler right before I went under... and when I woke up from surgery... my chest was sooooo heavy. It was the worst feeling out of my whole surgery. I did feel like I couldn't breath for a moment and then the feeling went away.
When I got home I tried to sleep in my bed w/propped up pillows.. and that was a NO GO!! I couldn't even be slightly slanted b/c my chest felt so heavy... so I had to sit in a recliner to sleep. That was the only position I could feel most comfortable.

I can totally see how someone could get pnumonia! I went a few days without coughing or clearing my throat because I knew it would send me into a pain I was not prepared for - I started to feel like I had chest congestion. As soon as I could bear the pain I coughed every now and then to get it up.
