![]() | where I had IV hurts.
Hey, did anyone else have alot of sharp pains around the site where your IV was? Everytime I move that arm too fast, stretch it too much, or pick up/drop something that is over a pound with that arm, I get this shooting pain that feels as if my vein just ripped open. I think I remember feeling this way from the IV I got when I had my son, but don't really remember how long it lasted. Does anyone else have this or has had it? |

Hmm...I personally haven't had that feeling. Did they put the IV in the bend of your arm? I do know that one arm hurts worse than the other when I get blood drawn or have an IV. My right arm hurts worse, so I always tell them to do my left...I barely feel it. I guess everyone reacts differently. Is there any bruising?

Hi ![]() I had iv in my left hand & that hurt for about a week after. I also had weird pains in my forearm, it felt like in a vein maybe? It passes, but if youre worried, get it checked out. I found rubbing the area helped. x |

I had my IV in my left ....a little below my wrist on the side. The surrounding area is starting to look bruised. Man I hate needles lol.

I've had that happen before...sounds like the nurse was a bit rough with the needle--they don't all work magic with the IVs, that's for sure! It tends to happen more if you have small veins, but I have big ones & it still happens to me occasionally. I'd give it a week or two...the area will behave like a bruise. Congrats on your breast augmentation!

My arm hurt like hell for a week too, and I also had a huge bruise on it. 11 days post op, the arm no longer hurts, the bruise is still there and I have a little scab from where the needle was. Your pain will pass, sometimes I don't know what hurt more my arm or my boobs. |

OMG ewww.... that's the part I'm TERRIFIED of... The IV. I'm not afraid of having surgery, go ahead and cut me open... Just don't stick a needle in my hand The thought of it seriously makes me sick! |

when i got my iv it was my first time & in my hand. it hurt just a little when they poked me & when they took it out but it didnt bother me b/c i was all doped up, lol. i think it hurt the next day or so a little. it will get better soon but if its red or swollen then apply a warm compress to the site. that will help. |

![]() | Mine was sore for a couple of days but it wasn't like a kind of pain you described... I am righty, so I always ask for the left. Also, I usually ask for a thinnest needle possible for IV or shot. Thinner needle is less painful when inserting. Actually, when I had a flu-shot on biceps a week ago, my biceps was sore for almost a week, even though nurse used a thinnest needle It was painful whenever the muscle was stretched or I lifted something.
