Showering....

usually how soon after breast augmentation (doing it through nipple - crescent lift) can you take a REAL shower. I'm ok with bathing from waist down...but the hair thing....I can't usually go more than a day w/out washing my hair. And I wont' really have help in that area since I'm a single mom.

I had the nipple incision and was told that I could shower two days after surgery - just put waterproof dressing on the incision and go for it. However, each PS is different, so check with yours first.

I am without a shower at the moment both at home and when I go to stay with my folks. Soon I will be going to the swimming pool to get a shower but that's another story!

Anyway, would it be possible for you to bend over the bath and get someone to wash your hair? Maybe thats not possible post breast augmentation. I think if when I finally get mine I'm going to end up really dirty for about a week

Post Showering....

If your hair gets to the point where you REALLY have to get it shampooed, have someone take you to the hairdresser, and just pay to have them shampoo and blow dry it. Since they put a gown on you anyway, your breasts will be protected from getting wet. It's worth the money to get clean hair!!

i had the transax and i was able to shower after 2 days. you just have to be careful like everyone says. what made things easier for me was getting a nozzle head that was hand head (it was like 25 bucks at walmart), this allowed me to control where the water went and made it alot easier to wash my hair etc..

I had the crease incision and was able to take a shower 24 hours later. I had my dh give me my first shower. I was standing and was a bit worried about getting dizzzy. The next day I had him put in one of the plastic patio chairs into the shower. We have the type of nozzel that can be taken off the holder and held in your hand. It was really nice to be able to give myself my own shower while sitting down.

I was allowed to shower after 48 hours. I just couldn't have direct water splashing on my incisions (crease). So I had my back to the shower head and just let the water trickle down my front (also had to wear tape on incisions). It felt great to just have my hair washed! Though I do have to mention that my boyfriend helped me out a bit. I asked him to be around just in case I passed out or something.

So be careful! And ask what your PS recommends. Good luck!

I had to wait until my post op appointment on day 3 before I could shower. I was like you and had to have my hair washed. I leaned over the sink and my daughter washed it for me. I was told that I could bend over and put my arms out (to wash my hair), I just couldn't stand straight up and put my arms out.

Or the hairdresser is a good idea. You will just have to check with your ps to see what is allowed. All of them are different.

I had to wait a month to shower, but by the third day po I was washing my hair and taking baths by myself without a problem. It got easier as the days progressed.

not much help since I had crease and after 48 hours my ps said soap & water were great for keeping the incisions clean and healthy. But I was thinking about going to the salon and just asking for a wash and dry. They don't charge that much for those. Just an idea
