![]() | Post-Op Weight Gain?
Hi Everyone, I'm just wondering if during your recovery period did you end up gaining any weight due to lack of exercise? It's day 5 post-op for me now (I still look like a mutant) and the fact that I've just been laying around the house not being able to do anything but eat makes me wonder if I'll gain weight. I'm use to running 5 miles or more a day. I think I'm getting post-op depression since i don't even want to go out in public due to how ugly my boobs look right now. A big fear of mine is weight gain though since I've spent a lot of time and effort to be the weight that I am now. |

I actually lost weight post op. I didn't eat a lot, I wasn't doing any cardio, but more importantly... I wasn't doing any strength training. I felt more "flabby" after the lack of exercise. I'm 6 months post op and just now getting my legs back in shape...

My weight has not changed - but, I do look flabbier. I am 2 weeks post-op and am walking daily - but, it is just not the same as the gym routine I was doing pre-breast augmentation. I need to be in a swimsuit next month - and I am terrified of going to buy one (damn flourescent lighting in dressing rooms).

I gained weight but I'm sure it's because I ate everything they served me afterward, including two desserts at each meal! I didn't exercise much before, but I'm planning to start once I'm approved to do so, just so I can get off some of these extra pounds and can look good in a bathing suit. |

Phew - I'm glad to hear the bloated stomach isn't just me and because I was scarfing down jello after my surgery! It's a result of all the meds? Good to know. Thanks girls |

I'm having my surgery next Monday the 22nd and have a wedding to go to that Saturday - obviously I can't buy a dress yet andmy boobies will prolly be riding high so I have this cute tight business skirt that goes high to an empire waist and its quite snug - everyone is saying they are bloated andnow I'm worried I wont be able to wear it but I dont have many choices. Is the bloat really bad?? I dont want to look like a cow!!!!

It's not super bad - it's just definitely noticeable. Unless the skirt was skin tight to begin with, you should be able to wear it. I'm actually getting dressed for a wedding right now (3 days post op) and hopefully I won't be eating my words and not fit my skirt I planned to wear.

Thanks for this thread. I too have been worried about weight gain post-op. I'm scheduled for my breast augmentation on Tuesday (June 16) and have been doing extra hard/long workouts in anticipation of the weeks off of my workout routine. Still, I know I'll feel gross and flabby post-op, if not a few pounds heavier (hopefully not more!). I'm also worried about situational depression from not being able to get the endorphins from working out that I'm used to. Anyone have good tips for getting back into movement/light workouts 1 week post-op? (I think I can manage a week off, but week 2 - 4 will be brutal...). Any other tips on things to eat that make you feel good (not bloated, not fat) post-op? I've read Jello, Benefiber and protien shakes. Other ideas? Thanks!!! |

I was joking with my mom the first few days after my surgery that I looked like I was 5 months pregnant. I went from 108 lbs. to 122 lbs. in literally 2 days! But I'm now just shy of 2 weeks post op and I don't have the bloated belly anymore and I've gone down to like 112 lbs. currently.

I havent even weighed myself. I only do that once a month. I go by how my clothes fit and my muscle tone. That said, I DID bloat badly too so it must be the meds. I was constipated for 2 days then I had the opposite for the following 4 days until I finished all my meds. Never seen my belly stick out so much.... |

I was extremely bloated too and constipated until I got off the meds. I took them for about 4 days post-op and never had a bowel movement the whole time! So we're talking 4 or 5 days of the pipes not working down there! It was even hard to pee sometimes. But once I got off the meds did I ever have a bowel movement! Man, I'm surprized I wasn't on the toliette the whole day (sorry ladies, plastic surgery isn't always pretty). But now it's almost 2am and I'm sitting here eating crackers and cheese, feeling sorry for myself and my frankenboobs (and I'm going to feel this way until I see my surgeon and hopfully he can tell me what they're going to look like - I'm so worried about my nipple placement). I'm an emotional eater, and I haven't had anything to do since I'm still in recovery mode... I tried to go fro a walk with my bf and the dog in the woods today which was nice despite the fact I was holding my breasts the whole time but when I got home I was in pain (5 days post-op). So I think that I'll start walking after 2 weeks instead. |

I know we're not supposed to actually work out for a few weeks, but as long as we don't elevate our heart rates, I'm sure taking walks would be okay. I have a normal resting heart rate of 49 because I'm a runner so I think I'm pretty safe to take a daily stroll around the neighborhood. That said, I'm only 6 days out...

HELP..... My first post-op appt with my PS is schedueled for 6 weeks (5 weeks time), and I am booked in with his nurse for a 2 week post-op follow-up. To be honest, I am not comfortable with that timeline, as have many post-op questions. That being said, I do not want to be seen as making a fuss. When I've seen my PS, he leaves me feeling there is nothing to worry about. Am I making too much of a fuss? Thanks, Ginny. |

I am very bloated and have been since the Op last week. On the plus side, when I breath in I have a sassy figure and that vision keeps me inspired. Ginny |
