Post-Op Massage Advice for Textured Silicone

Hi Everyone, I am 10 days post op (Natrelle 340cc Round Textured Silicone Unders) I had a horrible recovery. Couldn't take the meds so had to go through all the pain plus with a bad stomach ache from the initial medicine (acid, diarreah, gas, you name it!) My left breast is high & aiming a bit left so both nipples point in different directions & they are hard & tight. I'm not supposed to wear a bra at this point, so they are not looking too nice. I was told that the pain & tightness went away when you massage (advice from someone with smooth silicone implants). I started to massage & it was true, boobs feel better but then realized that since mine were textured, maybe I am not supposed massage? (my doc didn't tell me either way honestly). Do you guys have any advice for me in regards to what I can do to pro-actively best care for my new boobs? I really want to have perfect, beautiful boobs & know post op there are do's and don'ts but I'm not sure about massage vs. textured. Any advice at all regarding anything to do with textured silicone would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance! -CanadianGirl

I have textured implants, which I already hate btw, I see rippling on one side once in a while already. But my surgeon told to massage them at 2 weeks post op, he never told me how or how often so beats me. I just do it when I feel like playing with them. In all honesty it wont hurt its not like they will never be grabbed and rubbed anyways and if it helps then do it gently.

My only advice is listen to your PS. Some say that massage with textured implants makes the textured surface totally redundant and others encourage certain types of massage.

I have Euroscilicone textured implants and my PS said that at 1 week post op I could do the following "excercise":

Place the outer edge of your right palm on your left incision (if you have a crease incision, otherwise I think on the crease is fine) so that your palm is facing up and directly beneath the breast, then carefully but firmly lift and push the implant towards your head/collarbone. Bend your fingers at 90 degrees and push it inwards so your breast ends up going diagonally up towards your right collarbone, asif you're wearing a push-up bra I suppose. Hold this for a count of 5 and let go. Do this 30 times each side (right hand on left, and left hand on right), daily.

These are the instructions I got and they've made my muscle alot less crampy and sore. The lower part of my breasts have also softened up beautifully, but the tops are still hard because the muscles are still gripping on to them. The main idea behind this "excercise" is to stretch the capsule around the implants to create even less of a chance of CC.

Like I said, listen to your PS. They all have their reasons why and why not to do certain things.

HTH

Never massage unless your PS has told you to do so, especially if you have textured. Most girls with textured are told NOT to massage. The whole point in a textured implant is to have the shell of the implant adhere to your tissue - if you're massaging, it'll just reverse that effect.

Call your PS, and go with what he tells you to - not your friend.

Also, at only 10 days out, it's normal for your boobs to look funny. Give it time, girly!

I have textured unders, love them and do my massages as instructed by my PS twice a day. Make sure you ask him if he thinks it is ok to massage, i only did it bc I was instructed to do so

Modern is 100% spot on... ASK your PS first and 10 days is still early. If your PS says it is ok to massage to help drop the implant then I have a blog on my page... I am a LMT. It is very important that you ask your PS first and confirm the type of massage you are allowed to perform... my blog is Myofascial release, so it may not be what you want with textured....
And, again it is still very early
