![]() | Did the Boobie Blues Fairy Pass Up My House? Post-breast augmentation Blues . . . Boobie Blues . . . Post-Partum Boobpression . . . Whatever you wanna call it, it all refers to the same thing: The depression that occurs after you get a breast augmentation. In general, I'm a pretty sane / happy person. But I do consider myself to be the type of person who is prone to anxiety and depression. If a side effect of a medication causes depression, I get it. Once daylight savings happens in the Fall, I get it (depression). After reading up on all of this post-breast augmentation depression hype, I was more than convinced that I'd get it, and more than prepared for it. I even warned my family and boyfriend about it. But . . . I'm 5 . . . almost 6 Days PO right now, and . . . well . . . nothing. In fact, I'm happy as a clam! So what's the deal? Did the Boobie Blues Fairy accidentally skip over my house? Am I past that window of opportunity for the Boobie Blues to occur? Or do I still have a chance of getting the Boobie Blues? ![]() What do you all think? If it means anything, I AM happy with my results so far, and I don't feel fat or bloated. (Wondering if freakish' lookin' boobs or post-op constipation and bloat play a part in the depression.) Your thoughts and experiences, ladies ? ? ?

hopefully, but I thought the same thing & 1 day 3wks po I had a break down & cried all day. I'm not an emotional person normally & I have no regrets of getting breast augmentation.

I love my size and glad i didn't go any bigger. I know that's really common after is the boobie greed monster and it hasn't hit me yet and don't think it will. i LOVE my BOOBIES!

I would say for me personally, boobie blues is something that just randomly happens. It can be a whole day of feeling bad or even just a moment. I was pretty pleased with my results too the first week and I still am, but I think the boobie blues occurs as you get used to your big new beautiful boobs. And just like you have your "ugly days" or "fat days" you might have "i hate my boob days" too where they don't look the way you want or feel the way you want. It seriously can last only a matter of minutes and pass or it can nag at you all day. I think its because the process is so anticlimatic. Its all this build up for this big day and the excitement continues the first few weeks, but as it dies down it can make you feel kind of sad. Like the way you might feel after a vacation or other big/special event in your life. If it doesn't affect you than thats awesome! But if it does, I promise you're happy boob days will definitely outnumber your unhappy ones and as you know, you're not alone! Good luck and know you always have jbi for support if the boobie blues do set in.

I can be a little depressed sometimes. I never got the boobie blues...I always knew that it takes time. You have to stay positive. The vicodin was the worst part by far....

I think the boobie blues strike harder when there is a complication right off the bat... Ones is higher or what ever... When your expectation is not meet. Your mind can go wicked waiting for the result... Then you have to worry about a 2nd surgery to fix... Thats when i think it hits the hardest. But if post op day one you look and mmm there nice nothing to be upset about then lucky you, most likely they will skip you too!!!

![]() | Well lucky for you!!! While I do't think I ever had real boobie blues. I had days that I really questioned having my breast augmentation, but I had a lot of pain, from what I read here I think it was a bit higher than normal. I was also alone which was by choice since I did not want to tell anyone. In another post you mentioned you had a lot of family support, I am sure that helps to keep those blues away. I am so happy for you that everything is going well and you are feeling good! Iris |

Been happy as can be since I went on my consult. Six weeks post and I'm still that way. I'm sure The Beast is wishing he'd had this done for me a lot sooner because he can do no wrong now. LOL! I am the queen of "yes, dear", "anything for you, dear", "have fun at the bar, dear". He thinks the $8k he paid for my surgeries was a bargin for the 'new wife' he got!! LMAO!!!

Great post. It makes so much sense, especially the part about how the excitement builds up pre-breast augmentation, then explodes on breast augmentation day, and then the excitement endures a bit until it slowly reaches a lower point. And boobies become a, "been there done that" deal. I think, because I was so psychologically prepared to get the blues, and since I was so prepared to HATE the way my breasts look . . . I've been pleasantly surprised. You know how it is when you expect the worst . . . a lot of the times the opposite happens (you get the best). It could all be in the expectations.

I think the drugs played a huge part in it for me. I only had one day this time around where I was down and it was because I tried to stop the pain meds too quickly when my kids came home and it backfired on me. My first surgery, I was down a lot. That I think was due in part to how badly I felt physically. The first surgery was tough and I couldn't do anything. I had a three year old that I couldn't pick up for 4 weeks, the housework wasn't getting done and I couldn't do it, etc. This time around I feel great and can do most everything for myself. Also, no one knew about my surgeries, in real life, so it's hard not being able to tell anyone why you don't feel well, ya know. Can't get it off your chest so to speak. |

![]() | Ya know, I think I might have come up with another thing that might factor into the Boobie Blues: The fact that we stop taking our meds. I remember when I broke my ankle last year . . . when I got off the pain meds completely I was an emotional mess (mild withdrawal?). I say this because today was my first day off pain meds completely and I was a little bit emotional. (And I hate to admit it, but I wound up taking a Percocet and felt much better after that; scary!)

I'm at 3 weeks PO this friday and I also thought I'd get hit hard by the BB's as I do get depressed quite easily. The only thing I can really say is bothering me is my lil' stomach pooch I have because of the meds and not being able to do any excercise. My BF said we can go to the gym (I'm dependant on him for tansport) this week, but unfortunately he hurt his ankle quite badly playing paintball this last weekend and I want him to be all healed up before we get anywhere near a gym. I'm allowed to do cardio and lower body aswell as stomach and back excercises right now, just nothing involving my shoulders, arms or chest. I think a BIG factor in me NOT getting the BB's is the sheer amount of research I did. As a good example, a girl named Jen had her breast augmentation done right after mine on the same day and with the same PS. When our bandages got removed 2 days later, I was completely happy with my size, the swelling and the height, whereas Jen was so upset about how "small and misshapen" hers where. I asked her if she'd done any research regarding the first while post-op and she said she hadn't. So, to me the best weapon against the BB's is knowledge. I knew I'd have swelling, I knew they'd be very high, I knew they'd be very hard and I knew to go a lil bigger than I thought to ensure that I got that extra 15% lost under the muscle. I honestly think I would've been a wreck if I hadn't read so much in the 2.5 months pre-op. I mostly have all the wonderful ladies here on JBI to thank for giving so much info on their experiences and advice from their PS's. My advice to any girl going for a breast augmentation would be to read as much as you can to prepare yourself and.... Get BENDY STRAWS!! I love them, my BF had to feed me water and my meds for quite a few days and I would've been lost without them. I love me some bendy straws! |

I have not had it with my boobs but I had a breakdown when I found out that my surgeon gave me a full TT. I am fine with it now but when I found out I was upset. She had to do what she had to do to give me what I wanted and she did not think a mini TT would have done me any good. She wanted me to be happy and I am right now. The plus with all this is that I got a full TT for the price of a mini. : )

I know exactly what you mean about being educated about what things might look like post-op. The more you know, the better you're prepared. I've been researching breast augmentation since 2005! I met a girl who got breast implants about a year and a half ago. She told me that she hated them for the first year. I asked her what type of implants she got (saline? sili?), what placement (over? under?), AND SHE COULDN'T TELL ME ANYTHING. SHE KNEW NOTHING! No wonder she didn't like her boobs for the first year. It was clear that she had done NO research about breast augmentation beorehand whatsoever.

It's good that she used her better judgment and gave you the full TT. Glad you're feeling happier about it now! ![]() And dam! How nice to get a full TT at the price of a MINI! That is so SWEET!
