![]() | is this swelling normal?
Hi girls! I just got my breast augmentation yesterday, and my recovery has been pretty good- not too painful, just very sore and very tight. Since I unwrapped my bandages off this morning, I have become more and more swollen by the hour. And I am really swelling up on the sides, (side of my ribs) my breasts don't even stick out as wide to the side as my swollen sides. Just wanted to know if this was normal- i know that it's normal to swell, but i have never heard of anyone swelling on the side of their ribs, ie. the circumference of the ribs, like right under my armpit. and again, im not in pain, i just feel im blowing up like a balloon!!! Also, my upper stomach, right below my breasts is also sore and swollen, is it normal to swell like this? Please help!! |

I found I did mostly swell up on days 2-4. ICE lots!! Like every half hour for 10 minutes, it will help and it does provide some relief. I found I had to wear an even bigger bra that first week when the swelling was at its worst as the band was so tight I could hardly breathe! I did have swelling all around it seemed, plus there is just a lot of fluid in the upper torso at this time. It will get better!! Congrats on the new girls!

I had my breast augmentation Monday and I feel very swollen in the middle and the sides. And the painkillers did not like me. I threw up 4 times that night. I'm really tried still - switched to different painkillers , but they still knock me out!

I am now a month out, but I remember vividly the feeling when I first took that bandage off. It felt as if my boobs were going to explode out of my skin! It felt so much better to put the bandage back out....but I had to leave it off per my PS. It goes away after a couple of days. Take the advice of the other girls....lots of ice!!! It helps. |

My boobs felt like they were going to burst for the first week or so then it got better by the day. The swelling will reach its peak by day 4 then slowly subside. Goodluck and take it easy

ask you ps if you can take Arnica Montana. It helps with the swelling and you can get it at GNC.

Swelling sucks. But you've got to remember if you start with not much and inserting an object under the skin - the tissue will protest, it's normal. I can't stress enough how important icing is, it really works. And REST. I found the more I thought I could do (shopping, housework etc), my body would let me know with extra swelling. For the first few days (in my case, few weeks), my skin was tight, shiny and looking like it would explode. I thought I had the world's earliest case of CC many times! It's normal and it does go away.

Hihi. I had swelling on the sides too, just like you describe and mine was sensitive. I even had drains and I still got swelling. Most of my swelling was on the left side because I had a lot more work done on the left and it has the bigger implant. I had a slight bit of bruising that also came with the swelling, but it did subside in about a week. I'd also recommend that you keep an eye on it and if it does show signs of the bruising getting worse or the swelling getting worse, go see your PS. Some bruises (heamatomas) are cleared up by the body itself. Just PLEASE take it very slowly for now. |

My PS also gave me Arnica, so far no bruising but they are still swollen.... I'm trying the icepacks today, hopefully that will do the trick... |

My surgeon had me start taking bromelain and quertain a week before the surgery and Anica the day before. This is all suppose to help with bruising and swelling. I've not seen any bruising and some of the swelling on the top has already began to go down.

I had drains in for two weeks because there was so much fluid. When they took them out, I was left with large bruises and two large pockets of fluid on the side under my arms, which were extremely painful (its a very sensitive area). My doctors have had me return every few days to monitor them and with a lot of ice for swelling and warmth for bruises...and after almost a week they've started to go away. My doctor told me to watch for redness, warmth and any signs of a fever because that could indicate infection, but otherwise it was normal. I hope you feel better soon.
