![]() | tenting, symmastia, and cleavage
So, this may be a stupid question but... I stuck a finger down into the top of my ace bandage, and I noticed that the skin/muscle over the sternum are squishy (like I can compress it half a centimeter down, if I push twds my sternum). Is this normal for cleavage (I've never had any, LOL!), or is it tenting that will go away with skin stretching, or beginning of symmastia? I'm probably being over paranoid, but I'm so worried about having ugly boobies after all this pain and money! >.< |

Dont worry, I would say it is just part of the healing process. Maybe there is some swelling which will subside or some fluid which should be drained soon. If you have any issues just ask your PS, I am sure it is just the skin and tissue healing. Good luck!

I had tenting after both of my breast augmentation's. I'm now 6 weeks PO after my second breast augmentation and I still have it. But I've heard that it goes away after a few months after the skin stretches a little more. If you push your boobs together or flex your chest muscles and the skin lays flat on your sternum then its not symmastia (which is when the implants are actually physically touching each other). This is what I've heard and it comforts me every time I worry about having symmastia. My ps has looked at it and he said its nothing to worry about. He says its not symmastia b/c symmastia looks like a strap of skin connecting the two breasts and the nipples begin pointing outwards. HTH

Sounds like tenting to me, and is totally normal. I had it too. It'll go down gradually as your swelling goes down, and will eventually be completely gone.

phew, thanks guys! It sounds squishy too, and I was told that was the antibiotic foam, so hopefully my body will absorb it soon! =)

I am almost one month post-op and feel like I still have that. However, when I lay down on my back to go to sleep it goes away. I am assuming that if I had tenting or the beginning of symmastia this would not be the case, right?

Hmm after further thought I think its probably swelling. I'm not on pain meds anymore, and it hurts haha.
