![]() | I posted this on the Complications forum but have not gotten any reponses. I would like to know what you ladies think about this ... As you can see from my siggie pic, my right breast sits higher than the left. The PS said he needs to go in and open up the pocket. There is not enough room for the implant to move so it is pushing to the top. He explained the dent/hump near the cleavage as a fold in the implant due to not enough room to expand in the pocket. I understand all of that no problem. What I don't understand is he said the surgery is called an open capsulotomy. I understand an open capsulotmy as scraping away scar tissue that has built up from CC. Is opening up the pocket the same as scraping away scar tissue? Would love to know your thoughts on this. Thanks, ladies. |

OK hon, keep in mind that I do not have overs and I haven't personally dealt with CC, but since you haven't received any responses I thought I might throw some things out there. ![]() I went and read your post in the complications section after I read it here and it sounds to me like CC is what you and your surgeon are tackling. From what I understand CC can be handled in three different ways: a closed capsulotomy, which is what your Dr. did manually with his hands. An Open Capsulotomy where they go in and make cuts in the scar tissue to release the implant and an Open Capsulectomy where they completely remove the capsul and let your body grow a new one. And I'm not sure what goes on with over placement. I thought that pocket revision work was mostly for people with unders where the Dr. actually cuts away the muscle. Do they create an area for the implant by dissecting or removing tissue and fat for over placement? What does your Dr. actually mean by "opening the pocket"? |

![]() | UPDATE!! I haven't spoken with the PS office yet but received a surgery proposal by mail. Looks like the doc is going to do a capsulotomy. It will cost $1635 which isn't bad as I thought it would be upwards of $2500. I am going to schedule the surgery for ASAP. I really like my PS and his staff. They have always treated me like a rock star. The letter from the patient coordinator, who is also the doc's wife starts out like this: It was good to see you even briefly the other day. You have such a beautiful presence about you. I am sorry you are having difficulty with the one implant settling. That was not what we had planned. It looks like they worked the discounts as much as possible to try and get me the lowest out of pocket cost. I really appreciate that. |
