Hey all, I forgot to add this to my last post. So Im 10 days post op from my breast augmentation/BL and nurse gave me instructions for massaging. When she showed me on herself, I think I imagined throwing up. The way she did it was so rough to herself and I thought, OMG. Im not one for pain but I said whats the purpose? She said to make them soft. I said, I like them high. She said you have to do it and do it for 2 months. She wasnt mean or anything but it did seem important to do. So the instructions I got were to pinch the implant and move it in all sorts of directions holding it each for a count of ten. I love the cleavage one, that seemed harmless but anyone else doing massaging yet and doc gave certain instructions??? Maria 300/325 cc Mentor mod. profile. pre 34 B/C ![]() |

yeah but my PS called it "pocket exercise." I was told to just grab the bottom half below nipple with my thumb and middle finger then squeeze and push up til I see the implant pop up and hold it for a few seconds three times on each boob 3 times a day. Its easy. Nurse said if I see that it gets hard to get the implant up then I have to come in. So far still easy to do and getting softer! |

Girl this is sooo important to help get those pockets open and keep them that way and to help prevent scar tissure from building up so much, it was thru massage that I found my CC in my right boob and now my massage is aggressive massage so even though I can tell from reading your post you really do not want to its so important to do exactly as your PS says so less likely the chance for complicaitons.

my PS really emphasized massaging- it helps keep the pocket open and prevent CC. i know it hurts and really sucks to do in the beginning, but i enjoy it now- feels good! i was instructed to push the implant up, then down, push in and out to the side. laying down i'm able to really get the implant to the corners of the pocket.

![]() | I cant do it
I cant do it. I am toooo chicken to do it. when I pushed my implant on my left side to go toward my biceps, I feel there is something there either stuck or pulling. It doesnt feel right. Plus I also had my lift so I cant squeeze on the bottom as I have the incision line there. I just tried it last night and today and I dont like the feeling. Is there anyone out there who has not done the massaging and waited a week more? Maria |

Oh, and I can only really push the implant down when I lie down. I waited a week to start massaging as per orders from the nurse.

I'm three weeks out today and have had a post-op & follow up with my PS's nurse. I was told not to massage (they didn't say why). My incision is still sensitive & boobies are still very firm. I've seen videos on how to massage & i don't think my boobies would move that way if I tried. I have an appoinment two weeks from now with my PS, I'll let you know if instructions change then. Good luck, hope it gets better soon! |

My PS told me to use both hands to compress and hold for 10 seconds. And also said to make sure I move the implant around to prevent capsular contracture. I think the implants drop with time (with massage or not). I've been doing massages at night for the past 7 weeks because I do not want capsular contracture.

I just learned how to massage today. I have three different massages to do. 1. pushing them together from the outside to make clevage and hold for 10 seconds 2. pinching the implant under the nipple, hold for 10 seconds 3. push down on the top of the implant and pull up, hold for 10 seconds I just got my stitches out today and they are really sensitive and I can't imagine doing hard massages right now. But its sooo sooo soo important. I will probably try tonight and then do it three times tomorrow. Once my incision area isn't so fresh and messed with I hope it will be better. I was freaking out when my nurse was grabbing and pinching and pulling at my implant. I was not ready for that!! |

Today at my 1 week post op, I got my stitches out and she showed me how to massage. Except the PA did it on me, She gently pushed them together and up. She suggested that I do it in the shower every day. It is very important, like others said to keep the implant moving. That makes the pocket stay open and the implant can stay mobile and more natural. GL The PA even said, I could lay on my stomach as a great massage! Which I was shocked about, Im only 1 week out. She said as soon as it feels comfortable enough, I can do it. I shouldnt be feeling pain. GL once again!

![]() | its just my PS preference. He'd rather me leave the implants and the pocket to heal as they are. perhaps to prevent stretching of the pocket...which is working. My implants don't slide around when i lie down. I'm also not allowed to sleep on my sides for a long while.

![]() | Doc told me not to massage
Called docs office and spoke to a nurse there. She told me not to massage and to wait until Friday. Friday I will be 2 weeks postop. I cant believe how uncomfortable it is. There is such an annoying feeling right by the crease of my armpit toward my upper left side. When I moved the implant up there, it was soooo uncomfortable. Maria 300/325 Mentor Mod. Profile |

![]() | One of the PS's that I had a consult with did not have his patients do massage. Not all of them recommend it.

I just dont understand the whole purpose the massage. I mean does it hold true facts that CC occurs if the massage doesnt take place? I think if the body doesnt like the foreign material, you would know. Ah, who knows. Maria |

![]() | 2 weeks post op
am two weeks post op and was instructed to do the massage. my ps is excellent but i find that at every one of my post op visits i completely hit a blank and dont ask all the questions I wanted to ask! and he did the massage on me but only to my leftie and when i try it on myself i battle with the rightie. also, i can feel my left implant moving around like when i bend over i can feel it fall forward and when i stand up it falls back down. the right doesnt move at all and when i try massage the implant up i battle. i phone the doctors assistant so much im worried im starting to bug her so i bottle up all my questions and start imagining all sorts of bad scenarios!!
