Do you know your new Bra size? Here's some measuring tips...

Hey girls,

I've been searching for some nice new bras -- yes, I KNOW it's way to early but I'm bored and when I'm bored, I shop

Anyway, I found a guide to sizing that might be helpful to others:-
How determine your Bra size

Band Size
To measure under bust
Band Size: Measure around the rib cage just beneath the breasts. Keep the tape snug and straight around the back. Suggested band size based on back measurement:
25’’– 27” suggest 30 band (size 8)
27” – 29” suggest 32 band (size 10)
29” – 32” suggest 34 band (size 12)
33” – 34” suggest 36 band (size 14)

To verify the band size, follow the directions for measuring “over the bust”.

To measure over bust

Band Size: With tape measure around upper bust, high on the back and under the arms, take a snug measurement. That number will be the band size. If it is an odd number, round up to the nearest even number.

Cup Size
Cup Size: To find your cup size, measure gently around the body across the high point or fullest point of the bust line while wearing a bra. Subtract the band size from the cup measurement just taken. The difference will help you to find the right cup.

A difference of:
3” Larger indicates C cup
4” Larger indicates D cup
5” Larger indicates E cup
6” Larger indicates F cup

5 check points for proper fit
• Top of Cup should completely contain the breast.
• Underwire should clearly surround breast tissue on side and rest on the ribcage.
• Bra Band should hug firmly around body.
• Back of Bra should stay horizontal across back; if it rides up, band size may be too large.
• Centre front should lay flat, down against the breastbone.
I also stumbled across Le Mystere No 9 - fabulous bras made specifically for augmented boobs!!
"Le Mystère No.9 is a collection of innovative, designer bras incorporating patented technology so as to compliment the unique changes in shape and size that occur after a breast augmentation. Le Mystère has created the only bra on the market designed specifically for augmented women that fits true to size. You will no longer have to go up one cup size to accommodate the increased depth of your breast, since the design of the No.9 garments has taken into account all of the anatomic changes that occur after your breast enhancement. Now it’s easy for you to find a superior fitting bra for your post augmentation breasts. Look no further, Le Mystère No.9 is here!

In order to be fit properly, we highly recommend using our below fitting guide to aid you in correctly sizing yourself for the Le Mystère No.9 product line. It is also very important to note that even though you may already know your Le Mystère size, we suggest refitting yourself for Le Mystère No.9. Due to the unique changes in cup depth, wire shape and distance between the cups, you may find that the fit of the Le Mystère No.9 bras may be different from your traditional Le Mystère product. Thank you for the info!! I am 11 days postop and still very high/tight but I measured a D cup! I sure don't think I look like a D. I measured 2 times with DHs help to make sure I did it correctly, and there was a 4" diff which = D. It'll be interesting what I measure after I drop!

Hmmmm Im not so sure.. lol

I measured a 31 inches around my bust. Then accross the highest point of my breasts was 37 inches. Thats a 6 inch difference and there is no possible way Im an F. I am more like a 34DD at most.

Did I do something wrong? LOL!

If you measured 31" under your breast you would be a 34 bandsize and then you would subtract 34 from 37 and that would give you 3" making you a 34c.

Which still is incorrect, since I have tried on bras and there is no way these girls fit into a C. 36D fits the best so far, or 34DD

80% of Women are wearing the wrong Bra Size!

Hey girls,

Surprised that you're not measuring what you thought you would/should?

You shouldn't be, as it's likely you're one of the 80% of women that are wearing the wrong bra size. YES, EIGHTY PERCENT!!!

According to NineMSN, Time Magazine and quite a few others....

A staggering 80 per cent of women are wearing the wrong bra size, according to a new survey. Not only does this have an effect on how we feel, it could also be damaging our health.

Full article: http://style.uk.msn.com/beauty/artic...ntid=149248413

I've no doubt that pre-breast augmentation, I have been wearing the wrong size bras as I often switch between A and B, 34 and 36. I always went with what *I* think felt right, instead of being measured. I'm determined to get the right size from now on though - let's face it, my previous fried eggs couldn't have done any damage at that size *LOL*, but these babies may well do ... I've already got backache [tho if I'm honet, it's more to do with sleeping and being unable to move my arms around]

OK, I just went out and bought a tape measure and have measured myself. I measured 31" around the ribcage under the breast (therefore 34 band) and, at first, a bust of 36.5", which would've meant I needed a [full] B cup!?!!

Confused, I re-read the measuring instructions and saw that it says "With tape measure around upper bust, high on the back and under the arms" -- aha! I'd put the tape around my back at the BOTTOM of my bra line and over the highest point of bust.

Re-measuring up high and snugly below the armpits, I measure 38", which makes me a D cup (what my PS's nurse had suggested)!

I see why so many people can get it wrong - it does vary quite a bit depending on where the tape sits along your back. And I guess with bra sizing varying so much between manufacturers, it's always best to try them on and do the 5 point check:-
1• Top of Cup should completely contain the breast.
2• Underwire should clearly surround breast tissue on side and rest on the ribcage.
3• Bra Band should hug firmly around body.
4• Back of Bra should stay horizontal across back; if it rides up, band size may be too large.
5• Centre front should lay flat, down against the breastbone.
Everyone seems to be raving about the fit of the Le Mystere No.9 bra [a range made specifically for augmented breasts], so I'm now off to by one on eBay (http://is.gd/4iDkT ) - wahoo!

Okay I think this time I did it right...

haha I feel like such a dork

So I measured the band size, under the arms across the bust high on the back and measured 35" which is what the PA told me at pre-op anyways..

Then I measured across the bust at the highest point, which shows 39"

Which is a difference of 4" and that would be a D. Now am I only 4 weeks post op.. do you think my size can change? up or down for that matter?

it's so confusing with fake boobs lol. i measure 34F, I fit into SOME 34Fs and the cups on 36DDs fit.. but the band doesnt. but 34DDs that i've tried on are too snug adn the underwire is not flat against my ribcage. ......
and some of the 34Fs the side of the underwire does not fit snug against the side of my breast, rather rests on my ribcage about half an inch to an inch away from the actual side of my actual boob.
grrrrrrr frustrating.
plus i really don't think i look like an F. that's huge!!
