I need to shower but nervous..........

i know u guys prob heard this too many times but it would help me out alot if i could get some answers...........Thanks

I had my breast augmentation this past wed. morning 11-11-09 I was able to shower on day 3. I had under crease incision and dissolving stitches. My plastic surgeon told me to take off the tape and shower but im still afraid and nervous to cause the stiches would be exposed after..........what did u do after u showered? did u bandage the stiches back up or just leave them exposed? if u didnt bandage the stiches back up did it irritate u at all? Please Help.......

I had aerola incisions and i showered 3 days post-op..i was as careful as possible to keep the incisions as dry as possible in the shower...when i was finished, i lightly patted them dry, then let them air dry for a little bit and them covered them up again...i had the steri-strips, and was instructed to leave them on til they fell off...HTH

My PS, Told Me I could shower any time Immediately Post Op when I felt well enough.I took one on day 3 before I went out that day,He also said no Bath's and no Swimming until He saw Me and Cleared Me (Healing of the Stitch's) I was Approved to bath and swim 3 week's Post Op, I was also crease Incision

He took the surgical tape off My Incision's at the 7 Day Post Op visit and it was the 2 week Post Op visit He showed me how He wanted Me to Massage My breast's, You will be fine,follow Your PS's instruction's He has Your best interest at Heart

I had same directions for breast augmentation and pocket repair. Shower on day 3. My crease incision has tape over it and removable gauze square placed over that. Nurse gave me a packet of guaze to replace after showering. It's a little cushion between incision and bra but also absorbs any seepage or light bleeding that might occur. Return day 7 to remove tape and stitches and continue to use gauze over incision until no seepage. That's it……

I showered from day one, needed it to feel human again. Initially, my PS told me to keep the tape on during showering and to change it every three days. When it came off in the shower, I would just pat dry afterwards and apply the topical I was given and then replace the tape. I had dissolvable sutures also and never had a problem

My PS told me I could shower 24 hours after surgery. I had an areola incision with steri-strips. I think as long as you follow the instructions your PS gave you, you should be fine.

I was given instructions that I could shower after 1-2 days, but to keep my back to the spray......to TRY to keep the area around my incisions dry, I guess. That being said, I also had Op-site (clear plastic tape) over the steri-strips on my incisions. My PS told me that it was okay if the Op-site came off but to try to keep the steri-strips in place as best I could. The PS removed BOTH the Op-site and Steristrips at my first post op appointment (12 days after my breast augmentation).....they must have been extra sticky or something. :-)

I was able to shower at day 3, but not a long one. My ps said I can just leave my tapes on until 2 weeks so I did. Took a shower - almost passed out - and then i had my bf "pat" me down to dry off. I was gentle with the incision areas.

I had my post op at 3 weeks and they had to take my tummy tuck tape off because I almost passed out taking the tapes off my breasts (I'm a skirt) the day before in the shower...lol They re-taped me at my visit w/ some kind of scar tape? Gave me a role of it and said leave it on for 7 days, take it off in the shower and then re-tape after I dry off and repeat process for 2-3 months if I want.

I am always so scared to shower. I have my redo almost a month ago and I still have not gotten the incision really wet. I still watch for it in the shower. I know its ok to get wet but its all in my head. You are fine to shower just watch for he incision and pat dry after.

Thanks everyone for helping me through my first shower. I really appreciate all the advice....... it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be and ended up regauzing and retapping after just cause it made me feel more comfortable. Thanks again!

I was cleared to shower on day 2. I have to leave the steri-tape on till it falls off. When im done in the shower i pat them dry and lay on my bed to let them air dry and be free for about 10 min

Be careful with drying off! Don't use a towel to rub the area dry, use your blow drier.

I had this foamy tape stuff that covered my incisions and I thought I had dissolving stitches but he actually used that glue stuff to close my incisions. I was told I could shower the day after but I waited until 2 days post op. I was told to leave the tape on and they would remove it at my post op appointment 6 days out. I hated that tape though... it felt like it was pulling on my incisions a lot and when they took it off at my post op appt, it tore off some skin with it! OUCH!

Anyway, if you have any questions, call your PS's office. They should have an after hours answering service that can help you and if they can't help you, they will have a nurse call you back who can help. Good luck!

Didn't it feel really good after? I showered on the 2nd day and it really helped me feel somewhat normal. Just blotted my incisions (the strips stayed on until my 1 week PO) and I was good to go......back to bed
