No Bra after Ba

My PS does not recommend bras after BA.
After 3 weeks I can wear a soft bra with no underwire.
After 6 weeks underwire.
He says that by not wearing a bra your incisions can heal better.
Has anyone else being told that.

Yep, I had to wear a surgical bra for 6 weeks (THANK GOD that time is over!!!), then I could start wearing regular underwire bras again.

I am 3 weeks post op and went to my appt. and my doc says still no bra and we will see if I can take the strap off in 10 more days. I never thought I would miss the bra that bad. I don't think Im going to be able to wear one for at LEAST 6 more weeks. I bought petals for my nipples as Im pretty cold here in ALaska!! Thats seems to be working for now. Good luck and Happy Holidays!!

I wore my surgical bra for a week, the soft sports bra for six weeks then went to my regular bra….

This.

My PS said no bra at all. And when I asked him last week at my 3 week he "not for a while". And I'm still in the strap.

It's getting cold here, so I'm thinking of the petals too...

My PS said no bra for first two months, no underwire for three months - No strap, no night or sleeping bra. Its really been tough trying to get back into the habit of wearing a bra again, though the comments are nice (have you lost weight?) hehehehehe. I like the support of the bra, but damn do they dig into the shoulders!?!

I'm only 4 days post-op, but my PS recommends nothing, except a loose fitting camisole if it's comfortable. No strap. No surgical bra. Nada. He wants gravity to do the work and thinks they ultimately settle better if left alone.

My PS said no bra at all for me for two months - I don't have a strap or anything. He said a cami with a soft shelf bra is fine for short periods, but nothing if I can help it, no sports bra, no bra at night, nothing. He feels bras create more problems and gravity is the best way to allow the implants to drop with the best results. I have a concern: seeing as we have to sleep on our backs so soon after surgery, does not wearing a bra with some support allow the implants to slip to the sides, and the muscles to press down on them? Just curious if anyone had thought of that too...

I had a full anchor lift w/ my ba & my PS said no bra's for 1st 6wks, I came home w/ ace bandage & when that came off, nothing. I think it was so they could settle naturally. they have.

I thought the same thing about the slipping to the side. I wear the strap so pull it down on the sides a bit at night and so it doesn't dig into my arm pits also. But for the most part I am letting gravity do its thing, I don't think the strap changes things up so much as long as its not on to tight.

Sleeping with no bra

My ps said also just camis with a shelf bra. At night I am supposed to roll up washcloths and place under my arms to keep the implants from going under my armpits. My surgery is scheduled for 12/2.

yes...but for slightly different reasons. My PS also says no bras as much as possible after the breast augmentation. I am 4 months post op and go braless as much as I can. When out in public I wear a soft no underwire bra.

His reasoning is that it allows the implants to fall into place faster. Also for my situation, I have tubular breasts, and he said not wearing bras will allow gravity to push the implants where they need to be (drop) and also push on my tissue that needs to stretch and become round. (I had some internal work done to release the tight tissues and tendons causing the tubular affect, the tissue now has to relax and stretch and release to form a normal round breast.)

Oh...and since I had the crease insicion...no bra feels WAY better during the healing process. When my incisions were healing, wearing a bra aggravated the HELL out of my insicions.

After the first post op with him (day after surgery), he suggested the sports bras for me or a bra with no underwire. No waiting and wearing the compression/surgical bra for a few weeks or anything. At night, and around the house when I feel like it, I'm braless. I like to let my girls breathe, and plus I never used to wear a bra before, lol. I do notice they are dropping and it has allowed my smaller side (the right) feel a lot better and seem to stretch the skin I suppose through gravity. I haven't read about any adverse effects from not wearing one per se, and he hasn't said anything adverse would happen.

I was told to wear my surgical bra for at least 2 weeks, after that I can do bras without underwire. I wonder if I should go without a bra more to speed up recovery and drop and fluff..

I also was told no bra for the first month, then just soft sports bras for two months after that. I have been wearing a cami with built in crop for short periods when out and about/at the gym for my own peace of mind, but am braless around the house

Exactly the same instructions. Follow them. It worked wonderfully. I have exercises in which I moved the implants around with my hands. Pushing them down, etc. I was dropped and fluffed within the first month and they are perfect now!

Same here... no bra or just a cami with a built-in. I wear a sports bra occasionally (like when I went to Disneyland for 2 days) but mostly no bra when at home. I am 4 weeks post-op and seem to be dropping nicely. My PS said I could wear the strap to help stretch out the skin under my breasts so that part would fill out a little more, but my nerves were in so much pain that the strap really hurt and I haven't worn it very much. But I feel like they are slowly starting to fill out underneath on their own.

My PS agrees with the theory of letting gravity do it's work to help the implants drop and settle into place. And I wear no bra at night and it feels fine. I think I'm over the "morning boob" too! Yippee!!

My PA also said no bra and no bra shopping for six weeks. It's gonna be hard resisting temptation to go bra shopping and buy some sexy new pieces!
