![]() | PS hasn't told me to massage
I'm about 7.5 weeks post-op and had my last appt at 6 weeks. My next appt isn't until the end of April. My PS didn't tell me to massage or anything...anyone have reasons or beent old why a surgeon wouldn't tell you to massage? I ask because it seems that I read about massage, massage, massage on this site so I'm not sure why I'm not being told to do so.... Thanks for the input!! |

doctors don't recommend massaging, my doc showed me one move to massage but ive been massaging in different ways to because it makes them feel so much better...if i was you i would ask your doc if it was ok? i don't think it would do any harm to massage.

I am only a little over 2 weeks out and mine hasn't mentioned anything yet. I have been moving them around just a little bit only because it feels good and I really don't think it will harm it... it sure doesn't hurt... But I would call. My next appointment it will have been a month since surgery so I wonder if mine will tell me then... But good post. I am curious about this too!

![]() | My PS never said anything about massage so finally I did ask at my one month. He told me it is not nessesary. I do have textured implants and I have read massage is not needed with textured. I am 15 months PO and have not had any problems with CC. |

My PS never said anything about massage either and never did with my first breast augmentation. Now this one I have been moving them around a bit but not really massaging.

This is really interesting topic to me. My surgery was on jan 28th(thursday) my post op was the following tuesday. I had areola incision. So the doctor took off my steri strip.removed the sutures and reapplied a new ster strip. Then he stressed to me he wants me to massage the girls every day for five minutes each. Untill my next post op wich is in three months. unless I need him. gave me directions on the massage technique. So I have been doing it by the book and tomorrow I take off the second steri strip. At first the massage was uncomfortable but so far OMG it has felt so good and the girls have softened up alot. Seems overall to me that ps's have their own little post op instructions. I love my ps and I will do what he says. LOL Like why do some ps use the strap and other's don't? etc,etc.... I don't thing their is a right way or a wrong way Just your surgeons way . .. ![]()

The impression I get is that the massaging helps them drop and fluff....Maybe if you had mentioned to your PS that you wanted them to stay "up there" then you dont have to massage. I dunno.......I think the massaging is for a softer more natural look? My PS told me to massage just a few days into it. I had surgery on the 27th and started massaging on the 29th. 9 days PO and they already feel a lot softer and looks to me like they have even dropped a bit |

My ps never told me to massage and when I asked him he said he didn't recommend it. I have saline overs and they are suppper soft and look natural. I sleep on my stomach every night starting about 1 month after my surgery so I think that has helped with the softness.

My PS has had me messaging since day 1 OUCH! But my boobs are really soft and squishy, the hubby says they don't even feel fake. PS said if you don't message you will have rocks on your chest, but I have seen many girls that haven't messaged and they are just as good. Idk all PS's are diff I would just ask him/her about it.

My doctor says that massaging is not necessary for most people that have under the muscle. He said that it is more of an old-school technique from when most everyone did overs. He says that a lot of doctors just recommend it for all of them, but with unders, the muscle is massaging the implant everytime you move your arms. He said that if he sees that they are too tight or aren't dropping properly at my follow-ups, that he will tell me if I need to massage. He says that maybe 1 out of 25 of his patients have to massage. I had another friend that used him and her boobs look just as great as my friend who had hers done by a doctor that was super strict about massaging. I guess it's just one of those things that won't hurt if you do it, but most people won't have a problem if they don't.

My surgeon has sent instructions on how to massage after the surgery home with me after the pre op appt. His partner I'm told does not do this. So it is up to the Surgeon. I was told they do this to keep from the muscle hardening around the implant but every surgeon is different.

My doctor also told me that massaging is not necessary! It sure made them feel better though so I did it occasionally.

My PS had me start massaging on day 2. Ouch. He said it helps to keep the pocket open so the implant stays squishy. On my 2nd month I kind of starting flaking on it a little, and lo and behold my lefty started to harden up. I just had to go in on Friday and have him loosen it up again for me. Ouchhhhhh! It does seem every PS has a different opinion on pretty much everything

I think it all depends on the PS. Some recommend it and some dont. Always follow your PS's advise. HTH.
