![]() | IS it bad to go on vacation a week after BA??
My mom just completely surprised me and told me we are going to the Philipines for spring break. We'd be there March 14th-21st. My breast augmentation was scheduled for March 18. Just my luck! So, because of financial reasons, the soonest i can schedule it is May 5. Would it be really bad to go out of the country a week after getting my breast augmentation?? is it bad to be in the sun? and water? or on an airplane? I don't know what to do! i was so excited about getting my breast augmentation, but i dont want to miss out on a vacation with my whole family. |

How cool! That's awesome your mom surprised you with a trip! I'm guessing that you meant the earlier you can schedule your breast augmentation is March 5 and not May 5. If that is the case, I would definitely consult your surgeon about hopping on an airplane a week after your breast augmentation. My plastic surgeon advised that I not travel for at least 10 days, and then I finally traveled by plane on Day 17. If your plastic surgeon does give you the green light for traveling . . . I would just keep this in mind while you are in the Philippines: Sun -- If your new twins are going to be exposed to the sun, make sure you have plenty of sunblock with high SPF. I hit the beach on Day 7, totally did not wear any sunblock, had my new girls exposed . . . and I got burned a little bit. Your skin in that area will be very sensitive, especially after being stretched out . . . so be very careful. Water -- Do not go into the ocean and soak your incisions!! Your plastic surgeon should give you a guideline as to how long you need to avoid soaking your incisions (obviously you'll be able to take showers, but I believe most plastic surgeons do not advise that women soak incisions/take long baths for quite some time after a breast augmentation), so I would definitely ask him/her. Hope this was helpful, and I hope you get to go on your trip!

yes, i meant march 5! whooops. if i use my credit card the soonest i can get it would be February 26th, but idk if i'm trying to stress myself out by doing that. Would that be early enough for me to go on the trip and not have to worry about anything? My mom just spur of the moment decided to go with the rest of our family. Only one of my cousins knows about me getting it, so the Philipines should be interesting.. everything is just bad timing and i dont know what to do! It's gonna be so hard watching everyone in the water and i wont be able to go in! I just don't want to risk messing up the healing process or whatever. Should i just wait til after?? I'm so anxious to get it, but i am kinda thinking thats what im gonna have to do. thanks for your advice |

Judging by what you just posted, it sounds like . . . it might be best if you wait until after your trip to have your breast augmentation. Just like you said about risking the healing process . . . what if something happens and you need to see your plastic surgeon . . . and you're overseas? I'm not trying to scare you, I just want you to be able to have the most comfortable, peaceful recovery period . . . . . . not to mention, an enjoyable trip! It might suck not being able to enjoy the trip, the ocean, and all the beautiful beaches since you'll be in recovery mode. Not to mention, I know how judgmental the people in the P.I. can be (at least, from what my mom tells me!), so being over there with a breast augmentation might raise eyebrows and cause a wave of gossip amongst your relatives who don't know about your decision. LOL. Just a thought (I totally know how Filipino relatives can be). I'm not telling you that you should care about what others think -- I'm only saying that if you can avoid drama . . . it might be good to avoid it in this case! Hope this helps, and let me know what you decide to do!

IMO, I'd wait until after the trip to get the girls done. The first week was rough for me, I couldn't leave the couch, let alone even think about going on a trip. I think you'll just be too uncomfortable ... and your boobs might look not so pretty in your bathing suit. I'm just going from experience and if I were you, I'd REALLY want to enjoy that awesome vacation! You never know how you'll feel after surgery and you might be out of it only a week out. Your boobs are just so sensitive and you really have to take it easy for a while, definitely longer than a week. I wouldn't chance it! Good luck with your decision.

I personally would not go, or schedule the breast augmentation for after your trip. One week out you may not even feel up to it. you really wont be able to enjoy the vacation. plus god forbid there is a complication, you should be close to home. good luck in whatever you decide though.

No way should you travel like that so soon after a breast augmentation ---Please talk to your PS. I believe the best thing to do is wait to have your breast augmentation after you return from vacation. |

I wouldnt schedule it right before youre trip. Like what some of the other ladies said, you will still be kind of sore after a week of surgery. I couldnt even raise my arms at 1 week post and i was pretty sore still. Enjoy your vacay and the time with your fams first then maybe reschedule as soon as you get back. JMO though. |
