PS "Popping" implant to help drop faster?

Hi Ladies-

I am asking this for a friend. I never had this so i am curious she got her BA 4 weeks ago and she is still high and tight since surgery she has had to go in daily at first and now weekly to have her PS "pop" the implant loose? She said he told her it would help her drop- she says it definitely makes a popping noise and loosens up a little when he does this but is very painful. Is this cc starting?

Mine dropped after2.5 weeks so I have no idea but this doesn't sound normal, any one have similar experiences?

Thanks Ladies!

I went in for a one week post-op appointment, and my PS did the same thing to me. I was still high and very tight, and she squeezed hard until they popped. It was painful, but I had noticed that I dropped significantly by the end of that day and softened up quite a bit. She had me start massaging at that appointment as well, and I have continued to drop since. I don't know if this is CC starting, because my PS acted like it was totally normal. I'd like to see if anyone else has had this done, because I have yet to read about anyone else's experiences with "popping" implants.

My ps does this to me. He said it is to break any scar tissue that has formed holding the implant to the tissue/muscle and to stretch the pocket.. as far as helping to not get cc or it being cc i am not sure.. i think i am getting the early stages of cc.

mine were not dropping and he was doing that to help them drop but i ended up getting an infection and i think that is what caused the cc..

Hopefully we will get a few more replies but seems like it might be totally normal.
Bell, Did you ever have to go in again for a "popping?"

BeautifulD, do you think you were getting cc before or not until you got an infection? How long before yours dropped?

Thanks again

Oh god, I don't know anything about this but it sounds awfully painful. How do you girls manage to sit through it??

Now that I've had a job for a little while, I'm hoping to schedule my surgery within the next few months! AND IT WOULD BE ABOUT DARN TIME!

Dr. Revis recommended 600cc's HP, but I prefer mods, so he recommended 500 cc's for mod's (Same diameter, the extra cc's are in the projection). So, I think that's what I'm gonna go for! Will update when I schedule surgery. (After years and years of debate, I think I'm going to finally go with Silicone).

OMG! Yes! My PS has done this to me and put me in tears!

I went in for one of my post-ops and my boobs were starting to get really tight. So my PS had me lay on my back and then he squeezed the implant all the way up to my collar bone. As he did this I heard a loud popping sound and then I screamed at the top of my lungs from the pain. That popping sound is actually the fiberous tissue ripping!! He was breaking down the beginning of a CC because apparently I wasn't massaging correctly!

He told me I had to take 2,000 units of Vitamin E everydayto help loosen them up and to massage them 3 times a day for 2 minutes on each side. I did this for a week and then went back and I was ok for now. He told me if I didnt keep up on the massaging that I would get a CC so I needed to make sure I was keeping up with that.

The moral of the story is MASSAGE, MASSAGE, MASSAGE!!! Otherwise you could easily get a CC.

I didn't have to go in again to be popped, thank goodness! I massage pretty hard and squeeze the girls 10 times on each side for 10 seconds each time, and I have to do that twice a day. That's part of my massage instructions. I also have to push down on my implants and squeeze them together numerous times. My PS instructed me to do this every day for the rest of my life. It actually feels really good to me now.

i heard some ppl including roudner do this. correct me if i'm wrong. Its a sort of post op technique to loosen the pocket. Personally i'd rather have it take longer and let gravity do this...

Yes that is the most pain I had felt in a long time...I am really thinking worse than the kids I had.

I remember crying and him apologizing...

So it is common, he also showed my DH how to do it. But my husband doesn't have the heart to do it as hard as the Dr did.

Oh My God! Crying?? Seriously? I don't think I could sit thru that and I'm a pretty tough cookie. If he made me cry I think I might have to make him bleed. I'm not kidding.

In all seriousness, ladies, the popping thing is GOOD for us. We all heal differently and not everyone needs this to be done but for those of us who do - it makes a night/day difference! And yes, it hurts like a mofo (initially at least, if you can keep your pockets open on your own afterward, it's not that bad).

Just put this on a different thread but I'll say it again.... ;-) Think of your pocket as an open doorway. Scar tissue tries to form across the pocket like cobwebs form across the doorway. Little fingers of it reach out and crisscross the pocket trying to draw it together. This is NOT necessarily CC but a normal healing process. When you massage your implant and squeeze it HARD into all areas of your pocket, it's the same as a person walking through that doorway where the cobwebs were growing. The popping/crunching noise is the implant breaking the strands of scar tissue like the person would "break" the cobwebs. This is a GOOD thing. Yes, it can hurt but anyone who's had it done knows that the pressure before the pop is what hurts, not so much the pop itself and once it's done, the pain's gone (you may feel a bit bruised from using so much force but it's a skin/superficial thing).

CC is generally caused (or so most studies have shown) by a very low grade bacterial infection. You have no idea you have it, no symptoms at all. It can happen at any time and a number of studies have shown a loose correlation to getting your teeth cleaned (they get up under your gums to clean the plaque out - plaque is actually solidified bacteria!) and getting CC. This low level of infection is one you'd never notice but it's enough for the bacteria to get into your blood stream. They find foreign bodies (implants, screws in bones, plates, etc) and collect there. They cause an incredibly minor irritation and your body responds by forming scar tissue. Some people are prone to CC, others aren't. I happen to be considered a damn healthy person but I am prone to CC. My immune system is super strong and I *rarely* get sick, but my body loves to form scar tissue.

Some docs believe in massage and others do not. Personally, I'm a BIG fan of it. It keeps your pockets open which means softer boobs that move/bounce/squish more. The risk of NOT massaging is that you could get those cobwebs of scar tissue all over your pockets and end up not really having pockets at all but having the implant laced down by scar tissue. Of course, if you have issues around pocket integrity (previous bottoming out or something) then listen to your PS and do whatever they say!
HTH!

After reading this thread all I can say is THANK GOD I got anatomicals, no massage required and no scary popping!!!

But for all you ladies who have to do the massage thing remember to stick to it (and by the look of this thread really hard massaging!) and try to avoid the popping pain.....eeek

WOWZA that sounds painful!! But I guess if it made a big difference........ I had another post-op appointment today and my PS said to start massaging so I'm gonna go to town! lol

KARMA - that was a GREAT analogy! I wonder if there is a way to tell if you are more prone to developing scar tissue? Maybe if you develop keloid scars? I don't know but I'm going to look into it.

Thanks! Maybe all my boobie troubles will end up helping other folks. ;-)

I happen to scar very well on the outside of my body. Incisions tend to heal shut in about 3 days, scabs fall off in less than a week and scars almost totally disappear in less than a year - with NO help from Mederma/silicone sheets/other scar dressings. I've had horrible cuts/scars (vicious dog bite, knife cuts, surgical scars) that have simply disappeared that you'd have thought I'd still have when I die. But for whatever reason, internally, I a lot! At least in the CC department. Had a Baker IV, capsulectomy, it came back as a III before this redo. Now with the infection I have - if I shake it - I anticipate it being a few years and needing a capsulectomy again. Some of us just have crappy luck!

My PS does recommend massaging and told me to do it 10 times a day for 5 minutes each... (I've been doing it 3 times a day for 20, 15 & 15 mins) It's actually made them softer!!! Which he said it would... he also said it would lessen the gap between the twins

So, is this why some women use antibiotics prior to having any cleaning/work done at a dentist's office? I have never taken meds prior to a visit, but I sure will now. CC be damned!
