help. how to wear the band

my doctor doesn't believe in using a band after surgery to help breast drop, because he says there is no need. however, its been more than a month since my surgery and my boobs are still ridding really high, so i decided to ask one of my friend to borrow me her band ( she got hers a couple of month ago) i know its not a good idea to go against my doctors recommendations but at this point im willing to do anything to make this babies drop. plus i dont think it can hurt since its obviously something many doctors use. my friends boobs were never really hight to begin with so she never really used hers, so im wondering how i should use it? do you girls sleep with it all night or only during the day? also, how tight should i put it. thank you, im really starting to think my babies are never going to drop

my ps told me to wear it about as tight as the velcro is wide....does that make sense?? 24 hrs a day but I wear mine to sleep and most of the day. If i'm going to be in public and my shirt wont hide it well i take it off for a bit then put it right back on. HTH and good luck, i believe mine is helping

Great question! I just saw my PS for my 2 week post op appointment and he gave me one to wear. However, I am not sure, you do wear it over a bra? Or without one? Also, not sure exactly how tight...I am currently wearing it as tight as possible, but still being able to breath...well, kind of...

Thanks!

I have to wear a strap for 6 weeks!! Im only halfway done wearing it too :-/

Whenever I wear mine, I put my stupid surgical bra or my stupid sports bra (Can you tell how much I hate these things!?) on first, and then I put the strap on over it.
AND I usually wear it pretty tight, but not TOO tight because it can make you bottom out eventually if that tight all the time (says my PS)

Last monday i went for a post consultation and my ps said they were still high... so he gave me a strap which is more like a band... (like when you put it around your ankle... you know what i mean?)
Well i did put it but did not feel like it was very tight and it was hurting me cutting the circulation.
Si what i do is that i put my bra as a strap... it stays in place better and it does not hurt me.

I got mine about two weeks ago - I wear it basically from when I get home from work (or workout) until morning. I wore it to work a few times but honestly, a lot of my work clothes don't accomodate the look of a giant white band. I wrap it lower on my back and then up in a "U" shape over my breasts. My right side is riding high but I think the band has helped a bit.

I'm currently 4 weeks post-op, wearing a bandaeu almost 24/7 until week 6. PS wants me to wear it if I'm laying down or just hanging around the house, but gave me permission at 3 weeks post-op to take it off for 4-6 hours a day, if I'm running around and don't want to wear it with normal tops. (not the best look rockin' the bandaeu!)

Make sure it stays low in the back, and high in the front (over the girls, of course). It does not nessicarily need to be tight to do its job. I can post a photo of how I wear mine, if that would help. Let me know!

I have a band that was put on me right after surgery and I am supposed to wear it 24/7. I am not sure for how long I am supposed to wear it though. I will find out at my next post-op appointment this week. I would recommend following your ps instructions for best results.

Hi! My PS gave me the band right after my surgery and told me to wear it all day every day until my 2 week post-op. I have taken it off if I have to go in public and cant cover it, but that's only been twice for a few minutes. I also wear it at night because I feel it helps with morning boob...it just stabilizes them more in my opinion. My PS also said that after 2 weeks, I can start wearing it only at night, but I like the stability it gives my chest when moving during the day. I will probably wear it until they drop completely. At first it was really uncomfortable, but the more Ive dropped the better it gets so you shouldnt have much problem with it GL!

I had a bandau and then when I was HOPING to be released from the miserable thing my PS gave me another one The first was a strap under the breasts with a wide strap over the upper part of the breasts to push them down. The "new" one could be worn only on one breast if needed.

I HATED both of them!! They are super miserable. So if my PS told me not to wear one I don't think I would. I can totally understand after reading on here how many girls do have to wear them but some just wear a sports bra.

I am happy to report that despite still having some uneveness I don't have to wear either strap anymore. HORAAY!

Good Luck, I am sure they will drop for you soon!

My PS gave me a band to wear right from the start. At my first post op, I was told I still needed to wear it. You do wear this over your surgical bra or sports bra. Apparently I wasn't wearing the band as tight as I could have. The best way to describe how to wear it is to wrap it around your chest, bringing the non velcro end on the top of one boobie and then while holding that there, take the velcro end pull it straight across to the top of the other boobie. I was told it's a good idea to for the "velcro end" to end right at the arm pit area to ensure the right amount of tightness. Perhaps this may be different for others with bigger frames?? I see my PS Thursday and I hope I won't have to wear the band anymore? Good luck. =)

I have one more week. I was wearing it as tight as I could but when I saw my doc yesterday he said that wasnt necessary. So I have it over my sports bra, and just a little snug. I wear it as long as it can't be seen by my outfit.

I was told snug and high. I only wore it for a week or so and then at night as I just felt better keeping them in place while I slept. My left is still really high at 3 weeks, maybe I should put the band back on?? Thanks

I wish someone could tell or show me how to use the strap (ACE bandage in this case) only on one side!

I'm only a week out. Came out of surgery with one dropped and the other up high. It's freaking me out that I might be one of the statistics that never drops on one side. Anyway, my surgeon gave me the bandage after I asked him about it. (It don't think any of them really know what works and what doesn't, and that's why they disagree.) But my left is almost too low, so I don't like the idea of pushing it down further.

Help?

how do you do it? I have been wearing one since I came out of surgery and it causes almost unbearable pain/discomfort to me at times. Especially when I have been wearing it tight while I sleep. Do you have any tricks that could help this? I feel like if I didn't have to wear this stupid strap I would be feeling 10xs better right now
